Rebel Starfighters
X-wing (T-65B)
NAME/TYPE: T-65B X-wing Starfighter
DESIGNER/MANUFACTURER: Incom Corporation
COMBAT DESIGNATION: Space Superiority Starfighter
CREW: 1 pilot, 1 astromech droid
SPEED: 8
MANEUVERABILITY: 3
HYPERDRIVE: Yes, x1
WEAPONS: Four Laser Cannons, 2 Proton Torpedo Launchers
HULL/SHIELD: Heavy
NOTES: The T-65B X-wing starfighter is the main fighter of the
Rebel Alliance. This fighter has an excellent balance of speed,
maneuverability, armor, and firepower. Because of its strong shields
and magazine of six proton torpedoes, the X-wing is considered
superior to the Imperial TIE fighter.
X-wing (T-65C-A2)
NAME/TYPE: T-65C-A2 X-wing Starfighter
SPEED: 9
NOTES: The T-65C-A2 is a much later model of the X-wing which
was created soon after the death of Grand Admiral Thrawn. The
speed and targeting systems have been upgraded, but otherwise
the craft is identical to the earlier models.
X-wing (T-65AC4)
NAME/TYPE: T-65AC4 X-wing Starfighter
SPEED: 12
MANEUVERABILITY: 4
HULL/SHIELD: Super Heavy
NOTES: Several years after the introduction of the T-65C-A2 model,
it was decided to completely redesign the X-wing from scratch.
The resulting craft proved to be superior to both the A-wing and
E-wing fighters, making the X-wing once again the best starfighter
in the galaxy.
Y-wing
NAME/TYPE: BTL-A4 Y-wing Starfighter
DESIGNER/MANUFACTURER: Koensayr
COMBAT DESIGNATION: Long Range Fighter/Bomber
CREW: 1 pilot, 1 astromech droid
SPEED: 7
MANEUVERABILITY: 2
HYPERDRIVE: Yes, x1
WEAPONS: Two Laser Cannons, 2 Ion Cannons, 2 Proton Torpedo Launchers
HULL/SHIELD: Heavy
NOTES: The Y-wing is an older craft still used by the Rebel Alliance.
The Y-wing is very well armed and armored, but its slow speed
makes it easy prey to newer ships such as the TIE Interceptor.
The Y-wing is usually used as a bomber, but if X-wings are not
available to ward of TIE fighters, the Y-wing can be used in an
anti-starfighter role.
B-wing
NAME/TYPE: B-wing
DESIGNER/MANUFACTURER: Slayn & Korpil
COMBAT DESIGNATION: Heavy Assault Bomber
CREW: 1 pilot
SPEED: 6
MANEUVERABILITY: 1
HYPERDRIVE: Yes, x2
WEAPONS: One Laser Cannon, 2 Proton Torpedo Launchers, 3 Ion Cannons,
2 Auto Blasters
HULL/SHIELD: Super Heavy
NOTES: The Y-wing was judged to be inadequate in the bomber role,
and so Admiral Ackbar and a team of Verpine engineers set out
to develop a dedicated bomber. The result was the fearsome B-wing.
The B-wing is armed to the teeth, carrying no fewer than twelve
proton torpedoes. While the B-wing's sluggish maneuverability
makes it volnerable to enemy starfighters, it does succeed as
a dedicated space bomber.
B-wing/E (Expanded B-wing)
NAME/TYPE: Expanded B-wing
CREW: 2
SPEED: 7
WEAPONS: Two Laser Cannons, 1 Proton Torpedo Launchers, 3 Ion
Cannons
HULL/SHIELD: Super-Super Heavy
NOTES: Several years after the debut of the original B-wing, a
new two-seater model was developed. With increased speed and hull
strength, the B-wing/E was a more durable craft. The addition
of a dedicated weapons operator improved the overall accuracy
of torpedo attacks, but forced the compliment of torps to be reduced
to eight.
A-wing
NAME/TYPE: RZ-1 A-wing Starfighter
DESIGNER/MANUFACTURER: Dodonna/Blissex
COMBAT DESIGNATION: Long Range Fighter/Interceptor
CREW: 1 pilot
SPEED: 12
MANEUVERABILITY: 4
HYPERDRIVE: Yes, x1
WEAPONS: Two Laser Cannons
HULL/SHIELD: Light
NOTES: The introduction of the TIE Interceptor proved to the Rebel
command that a dedicated interceptor was needed for the fleet.
Rebel General Jan Dodonna and engineer Walex Blissex (who designed
the Victory-class Star Destroyer for the Old Republic) created
the A-wing to fulfill this role. The A-wing is very lightly armored
and poorly armed, but mounts the largest propulsion engines found
on any fighter craft, giving it a speed greater than that of the
Imperial TIE Interceptor. The A-wing is an excellent interceptor,
but ignorant commanders have, in the past, used them as a front-line
fighter craft, a strategy which always fails miserably.
A-wing (with missile launchers)
NAME/TYPE: RZ-2 A-wing Starfighter
WEAPONS: Two Laser Cannons, 2 Concussion Missile Launchers
NOTES: Addressing the weak offensive capabilities of the A-wing,
later models of the craft mounted concussion missile launchers.
While only carrying two missiles, this modification has proved
very useful in hit-and-run missions. Only a few modified A-wings
were ready in time for the battle of Endor, but later all A-wings
were equipped with missile launchers.
Z-95 Headhunter
NAME/TYPE: Z-95 Headhunter
DESIGNER/MANUFACTURER: Incom/Subpro
COMBAT DESIGNATION: Starfighter
CREW: 1 pilot
SPEED: 7
MANEUVERABILITY: 2
HYPERDRIVE: None
WEAPONS: Two Triple Blasters, 2 Concussion Missile Launchers
HULL/SHIELD: Medium
NOTES: The Headhunter is the direct predecessor to the X-wing.
While it is outwardly very similar, the Headhunter proves to be
obsolete by comparison. With weak shields and underpowered engines,
the Z-95 is a completely outdated craft. Its only advantages are
its low cost and the missile launchers. Because the Headhunter
lacks a hyperdrive, the Rebels try to avoid it as much as possible.
Nevertheless, many Headhunters can be found in the possession
of pirates and planetary navies throughout the galaxy.
