Birth: Matthew 1:24, 25 - And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took her as his wife, and kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus. |
Neo's virgin birth: Neo is born into the REAL WORLD. He emerges from a womblike incubator he spent his entire life within. Imagery within the movie is even symbolic of a birth. While Neo was in the incubator(an enclosed sac) he had umbilical cords attached to him in various places. And the chute, he slid down into the real world. |

Name? Matthew 1:23 - "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel", which translated means, "God with us". Christ was also referred to as: - the "Son of Man" (see at right and below in "Judas"); - the Christ of God, His Chosen One; and a host of other names. |
What's in a Name? The name Thomas Anderson has special meaning. "Thomas" is linked to "Doubting Thomas." Neo didn't fully; or never believe(d) he was "The One." Neo had to see for himself that he was "The One." "Anderson" is a name which means "Son of Man." This is the name in which Jesus was often referred. The name "Neo" means "new" or "change." Change is exactly why Neo was there! To change the world! Neo is an anagram for "One," and "Eon." |

Morpheus Morpheus both believed and proclaimed that Neo was "The One." Morpheus: We've done it Trinity. We found him. |

Predicted Coming The coming of Neo was foretold by the Oracle. (and THAT woman knows EVERYTHING!). |
| The Brothers Matthew 4:18-20 - ...He saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And He said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." And they immediately left the nets, and followed Him. |
Tank and Dozer Tank and Dozer are two brothers who are members of the crew aboard the the Nebuchadnezzar. Three sets of brothers were among the apostles. This is noted as a parallel because there were siblings in this small group and brothers. |
| Judas Matthew 26:15, 16 - ...and said, "What are you willing to give me to deliver Him up to you?" And they weighed out to him 30 pieces of silver. And from then on he began looking for a good opportunity to betray Him. Luke 22: 47, 48 - ...and the one called Judas, one of the 12, was preceding them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him. But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?" |
Cypher Morpheus' group is betrayed by Cypher. Neo was not the target for Cyphers betrayal as Christ was with Judas. The Agents were unaware of the true importance of Neo. They wanted Morpheus instead. Cypher makes a deal with Agent Smith(AI) to lead the group into a trap. The purpose behind this trap is to kidnap Morpheus. The reward for Cyphers betrayal was to be reinserted into The Matrix for a more fruitful life. |

Death and Resurrection Matthew 16:21 - From that time Jesus Christ began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day. |

Resurrection The Oracle predicted Neo's death and resurrection during his visit. She also told Neo that he has "the gift." She also told him that he is waiting for something. Neo asks, "What?" And the Oracle replies, "Your next life, maybe!....." |

Resurrection
Neo is killed later by the Agents. In less than three minutes, Neo is resurrected, not three days. Just how did the writers of the movie symbolically represent three days? Neo was dead for aproximately 72 seconds. 72 seconds = 72 hours which is 3 days. What was it that brought Neo back? It was love. And the person that brought it about was Trinity. We must not confuse the person with what her name signifies in Christianity. In the resurrection scene Trinity leans over Neo and kisses him on the lips. This is "the kiss of life," also known as "the breath of life." Then Neo wakes up. Neo then hears (the) Trinity, "Now,....get up!" |

Resurrection Matthew 28:18 - And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." |
A Greater Power After the
Resurrection The Agents powers are useless against Neo after his resurrection. Neo has now mastered the Matrix. Thus, the powers of the Agents are useless against him. |
| Radiant Presence Matthew 17:2 - And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. |
Radiant Presence Neo runs and leaps into Agent Smiths body, moves through his insides and then Smith explodes. Neo becomes an incandescent figure. |
| Ascension Mark 16:19 - So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. |
Ascension Neo hangs up the phone at the end of the movie, he just got finished telling Artificial Intelligence(AI) that the bondage is over. A new world where there are no boundaries or borders. He then ascends to the sky. |
