There is a great deal more information available regarding the former bookkeeper at Batsto, and I will update this page as time permits. For now I have this very brief outline of his family tree to offer:
Robert Stewart and Anne Patterson were the parents of the Robert Stewart who lived at Batsto. Their children were:
Robert Stewart married Margaret Green, also from Ireland. She was the daughter of Andrew Green (1791-1857) and Elizabeth Hamilton, and was born in Dormore (outside Ballyshannon) in 1819. Robert and Margaret married in Parish Drumholm in Ireland on 21 Oct 1835. They departed from Londonderry Ireland on the Barque Wolga and arrived in Philadelphia July 5, 1839, (they were in a cabin and not steerage).
Robert and Margaret had several children
Andrew was married twice; his first wife was named Elizabeth (last name either Haines or Harris). According to her death certificate, she was originally from Millville, NJ. There were children from that marriage but I do not know their names yet. His second wife was Asenath Burr (born in Tuckahoe, NJ on 8 May 1849, d. 27 Dec 1915), and from that marriage came the Andrew G. Stewart (1875-1963) mentioned on the Weymouth Page. There was another son as well, Thomas C. (1880-1942), who married Alice Sauder (1883-1965). They had a son named Thomas C. Stewart, jr. but they lost several children at birth.
In addition to Thomas C. and Andrew G. Stewart, Andrew, sr. had a daughter as well, the Helen Chalmers who is buried at Pleasant Mills.
Andrew G. Stewart married Carrie Mingin, who was born in Small's Hotel in Indian Mills.
Once again, there will later be a great deal more information especially concering Robert Stewart...check back soon
