The Macintosh II series were enormous machines with an amazing level of expandability. No longer was the monitor attached to the system, as present with the "Compact Macs". The first Mac II introduced the 68020 processor running at 16Mhz. It only shipped with 1MB, but could be upgraded to an unfathomable 68MB! The II series was creted for high end users. The first Mac II cost $6,500 and the Mac IIfx cost $10,000!
