Apple Macintosh System Software 6.08 is one of the best system choices to run on an old Mac. It is small in size, uses little ram, boots very quick, and moves around top speed. Instead of System 7, which adds a lot of finesse and bugginess to the Macintosh, you should at least think about system 6.08. To use this you must download Disk Copy and follow the Disk Copy instructions to move the contents of these "virtual instillation disks" to actual disks on your Macintosh.

Apple Macintosh System Software System 6.0.3 is one of the best system choices to run on an old Mac. This system is nearly similar to the one above, but is contained on single density 400k disks. These kinds of disks are accepted all all macs running up to System 7. To use this you must download Disk Copy and follow the Disk Copy instructions to move the contents of these "virtual instillation disks" to actual disks on your Macintosh. ALSO: The Macintosh you are using Disk Copy with must be able to accept 400k disks to complete the transfer.

Macintosh System Software System 7.0 changed the way people looked at their system. This revolutionary little product attempted to redefine the Macintosh Operating System. With this upgrade the user could use multiple applications with ease. Color accents where added to every bit of the system and the icons recieved a well deserved upgrade. The system folder was completely reorganized and the Apple Menu became more powerful than ever! This system may bog down some older macs, but it is a lot of fun to use and adds a lot more functionality to your machine! To use this you must download Disk Copy and follow the Disk Copy instructions to move the contents of these "virtual instillation disks" to actual disks on your Macintosh. ALSO: SImply mount the "virtual disk image" and open it up to find 8 more virtual disks. These are the ones you want to mount!

Macintosh System Software System 7.01 was a bug fix for system 7. This perticular version runs a bit differently, and a bit smoother, in some areas.
