Starfighters MOD (For Jedi Knight)

DESCRIPTION

There isn't really a story behind this one...unless I find out a way to make more computer controlled single-player ships... Mostly this was made just to be a fun thing to play across the internet. Read the "instructions.txt" for more information on how exactly to work it (it's kinda different from other mods...but it works!!)

LATEST NEWS

1/15 - Version 3.0 has been officially released!! Follow the links below to get to the new version of the ships! I'm not even going to bother listing all of the new features, because there are so many... : ) AND, you lucky people, I even took the time to go ahead and put the entire enchelata up there for downloading. As in, all of the individual fighters that are available are now able to be downloaded in one BIG bunch (BIG being about 10 MB worth...but of course you fortunate DSL users out there...I need DSL...took forever to upload a friked 10 MB!!). So enjoy!

Also, version 2.0 of the Rebs vs. Impies level is released. It will ONLY WORK RIGHT with v3.0 or higher (and considering that there ISN'T any higher right now, I have no idea why I'm even mentioning it!! Hehe...). You no longer have to shook the bitty kyle and several other annoying bugs are fixed. Enjoy! : )

1/7 - Well, I've got level editors making some cool ground levels (for all you Rogue Squadron 3D fans out there...) and that appears to be coming along nicely. The Missile Boat complete with overdrive has booked its place in v3.0 along side of the TIE Raptor (a cool TIE Fighter from Warlord Zinij's forces [spellcheck on the name, anyone??]) I'm still wrestling with the idea of making a weapon-to-shield power hotkey...but I've never successfully added a hotkey to this game. I always do something wrong... So if anybody's good at that sort of thing, I'm already working on the COG (once again, any COGers who could give me suggestions would be MUCH appreciated...considering my VERY limited COG expertise...)

We're also wrestling with some phantom problem in the game of, when you create a new character, you type in the name, click okay, and then the game crashes. If you experience this problem, just e-mail me and tell me which ship is giving you the problem, and I'll send you an MPC so that you can just select it. Yes, the premade MPCs work fine in the game...it's just making new characters that is a problem....once again, advice is welcome. In version 3.0, ALL of the ships will come with their own MPC files, so that they can each have individualized Force powers (being reprogrammed to Overdrive, etc.). I mean, it just wouldn't do for an A-wing to hit the Overdrive...so in the MPC I just won't give it Force Speed : ) Any suggestions or questions are welcome, so please send them to dannygast@yahoo.com or df_lev@hotmail.com

1/3 - Despite some people's hopes...the N-1 starfighter didn't work out...therefor not getting into this version. We're not entirely sure WHY the N-1 won't work, but when you try to make a new character (so the 3do works properly), the game crashes. We had the same problem when we tried to add the Y-wing, so you won't see either of these ships in this version. Also, check out the new mission. I'm not sure why the ships have funny texturing errors (textures disappearing, etc...), and I think it MIGHT be because I have a primative video card (with no 3d acceleration), but anyways, it's fun to play the mission anyways. : )

12/28 - We've decided to throw in the N-1 Starfighter and the TIE Advanced for version 2.0, which would be somewhat easy considering the amount of work we've already done, but there's just a small problem. For some reason that nobody can figure out, when you look up and down, the ship doesn't look up and down with you. As in, the nose doesn't point up if you look up. Version 1.0 did not encounter this problem for some reason...so if anybody has any helpful suggestions, please let me know. Thank you!

I mean...you need an open, spacy level to fly ships around in, don't you? : )

Spacesim - I know it's not right to steal other people's levels, but I have looked and looked for the original author of this level. I cannot find him anywhere! Hence, I cannot ask him if I can use this level. SO, it must be downloaded seperately until I get a few of my own levels up and running. This level is really bad... (waits for the complains to die down), but remember, I didn't make it. : ) The only reason I'm offering it for download is because it's the ONLY level that I can find that you can actually fly around in. SO, it serves our purposes. If you'd like to voulunteer to make some nice levels for this mod, I'd be more than willing to allow you to do so. (and, you get ure name in the final version! yay!)

Rebs vs. Impies 2.0 - Unfortunately, the capital ships don't REALLY fight...but it is fun to fly around the ships and their smaller escorts... You CAN also Roleplay out a battle...TIEs versus the Rebel ships, etc. I don't know, but that's the fun part! Coming up with interesting things to do with the level! And, because of the previous problem of accelerating into an invisible wall (boundry of the level) in Spacesim, the boundries of Rebs vs. Impies is GREATLY expanded. It's next to impossible, if you're really playing the level to shoot and kill each other, to hit a wall. The walls are WAY out there...
2.0 UPGRADES:
NOTE: ONLY WORKS WITH V3.0 AND HIGHER!! FEATURES WILL *NOT* WORK WITH LOWER VERSIONS!!
- No longer have to shoot the crunched up Kyle
- Shouldn't die when impacting on walls
- Glowlasers and warheads have been implemented
- New templates for the Torpedoes and Concussion Missiles
