FOLKSTYLE

Offenly referred to as the
scholastic or collegiate
wrestling.  This is the style this site is based around.  Basic high school wrestling.

The main focus is
controlling your
opponent. Points are awarded for moves which help pin or escape from an opponent.
Each match consists of three, 2-minute rounds
between wrestlers within the same weight class.

See Purpose of Wrestling for more info.

GRECO-ROMAN

The oldest of all styles in
origin, Greco-Roman
wrestling, as the name
suggests, is a
combination of the
wrestling styles of the
Ancient Greeks and the
Romans. It came about after the Romans
conquered Greece and wisely adopted many good aspects of their
culture

FREESTYLE

Matches are one 5-minute period in open and high school divisions but are split into two periods with a short break in between for younger wrestlers.

Again, the aim is to
perform a successful takedown on your
opponent, exposing his back to the mat and points are accumulated to this end.  For a pin all u have to do is  press both his shoulders or scapula to the mat at the same time.

In Freestyle, due to the
importance of exposure, a wrestler can easily pin himself by exposing his own back to the mat in a careless moment.
Controlling an opponent
without exposing his back is considered a stalemate position.
