GRECO-ROMAN
The oldest of all styles in
origin, Greco-Roman
wrestling, as the name
suggests, is a
combination of the
wrestling styles of the
Ancient Greeks and the
Romans. It came about after the Romans
conquered Greece and wisely adopted many good aspects of their
culture |
FREESTYLE
Matches are one 5-minute period in open and high school
divisions but are split into two periods with a short break in between for younger
wrestlers.
Again, the aim is to
perform a successful takedown on your
opponent, exposing his back to the mat and points are accumulated to this end. For a
pin all u have to do is press both his shoulders or scapula to the mat at the same
time.
In Freestyle, due to the
importance of exposure, a wrestler can easily pin himself by exposing his own back
to the mat in a careless moment.
Controlling an opponent
without exposing his back is considered a stalemate position.
