Big Dangers

There are some things in FloorPlan 3D that can cause
errors, crashes, or just be an annoyance.  The problems
may require you to spend hours fixing it or even start over.
Below are some tips on how to avoid these frustrations.

Tip: Save often and save before using invisible walls or inserting a roof
Save extra copies as you go, so if an error develops you can go
back to the saved copy that hasn't been damaged.

Invisible Walls

Invisible walls can be hard to work with.  Try to avoid connecting invisible walls to regular walls. Also save your file before inserting them.  If you place an invisible wall in the wrong spot, do not continue to do other tasks before deleting it.  Delete the wall right away.  If you get errors anytime you try to edit or delete a wall, invisible walls may be the cause.  Visit the How To page for more on invisible walls

Custom Objects

Custom Objects (3DS files) can be inserted into FloorPlan 3D.  This is a great option but can take up a lot of space.  Custom objects greatly increase file size and can cause rendering times to increase.  Also when you insert a custom 3DS Object it will only be available to that one document.  If you start a new document then the 3DS file will have to be inserted again.  Also, FloorPlan doesn't like certain 3DS objects.  This can result in an error which causes the program to crash.  I recommend you save your file before inserting a 3DS object.  For more info on custom objects visit the How To and Task pages.

Basements

When creating a house with a basement, you should be aware that the ground plane may prevent you from viewing the basement from outside.  If you want to be able to see the basement or you want to create a walkout basement change the floor levels.  Go to Tools:Locations and set the basement floor level to zero and go up from there for the other floors.  NOTE:  If you have already started creating the house then it may not adjust properly to the new floor levels.  Make sure you change the floor levels before starting.

Roofing

Roofing can be hard to work with.  There isn't a lot of danger here, however roofs are a common cause of errors.  I suggest you save your file before inserting a roof.  More complex roofing is more likely to cause a problem

MORE TO COME!

There are some more dangers to avoid.  I'm hoping to add more later on.

Do you know of any dangers that you think should be added?

If you know of anymore dangers or problems to avoid let me know.
