Life after death?
That is a question hardly anyone can answer, at least in its rhetorical sense. In my mind Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters have proved that afterlife does exist at some level of interpretation. When I was in my teens and Nirvana was at the top, there was no doubt in my mind that this band would last forever - Nirvana was a revolution!
What I did not realize was, that all revolutions come to an end, some more abrupt than others. Revolutions tend to either fade away or die quickly. In this case we all know the outcome.
At that time it was a disaster, a catastrophe - how could something so good turn out to be so bad. Nirvana was on the top of the grunge-wave and determining the direction of everyone on it. Itwas a disaster, no doubt about it, but who would have thought that something good would come of it.
Actually, the outcome might have been the same. How many bands actually stick together for a lifetime - only a few real life examples, U2, the Stones, Pink Floyd - and with individuals such as Cobain and Grohl, it probably just would have been a matter of time before Grohl wanted to try something else.
He had (has) the potential and developed for each and every album Nirvana ever made. He is the one who have carried the Foos to where they are today, and probably the one who will carry them even further. Who knows, only Grohl seems to know what the future might bring, and this time I fear no disaster.
