Song Sense
Bomb - "It's about this guy that was in a bombing in London, so this guy goes shopping,
as in wanted to buy you shinny red things, and he gets blown up. Its how it affects his family
and friends because for every person, every vicitim of a bomb there must be at least 30 people
who are directly affected by it." - Gavin Rossdale
Comedown - "It's a moody song, it can mean alot of diffferent things to people, all the
build up and alot of back downs and with the guitar I try to match the desperation in the voice of it." - Nigel Pulsford
Body - "It's about that really difficult question, and this is just the threat of it, the
difficulty of having friendships with people without actually, um, just keeping them platonic, ya, keeping them platonic after awhile." - Gavin Rossdale
Testosterone - "It's about this poet who got into alot of trouble with girls and we figured this was a bad thing, so we deicided to write about." - Nigel Pulsford
Monkey - She disapeared off really, got really heavily into yoga. Started with yoga and
pot and ended in goo-roos and hot coals and in very weird group activities." - Gavin Rossdale
Glycerine - "It's a very sad song, and with the strings on Glycerine you try to capture the saddness and the end piece was sorda inspired cause my father died when we started
making the album and so I wrote a little end piece, sorda has a tribute, so we just tagged that on to the end of it." - Nigel Pulsford
X-Girlfriend - "Well, we found out we had like a spare of a half hour, instead of songs
we just did it. Everybody arrived in the morning and they just had to play their parts one time and we just mixed it as it was, so in was quite instant." - Dave Parsons
BUSH bits
Most the tracks of Sixteen Stone were recored with just 3 members of the band. Nigel
Pulsford couldn't attend the early sessions because his father was ill.
On Razorblade Suitcase: " It's not Sixteen Stone volume 2 by any stretch of
imagination. We recorded more as a live unit, 'cause we've played on the road to
two solid years." - Nigel Pulsford
There's actually 5 members to Bush now, I don't know of if its offical yet, but Sasha Puttman on keyboards who added all those nice touches to "The Science of Things".
The Bush men were house painters, not full-time, but it was one of their day jobs to
keep them finanicially secure while searching for a label deal.
Sunny Ringo was a possible title for Razorblade Suitcase.
"Run with the Hunted & "Flowering the Glow" were possibles titles for The Science of Things.
In England, a "stone" is a measurement of weight. Winston, Gavin's beloved dog, weighs in
at 224 pounds which is 16 stones in England thus you get the name of their debut album, well maybe, I thought it was interesting.
Their first concert that kicked off the Sixteen Stone tour was at CBGB's in New York.
