3/9/2001 - Guildhouse Name Contest Winners!
Congratulations to all of the contest winners! The results are in and now posted under the Contests Link to the left.

3/9/2001 - Survey Completed!
Thank you very much, everyone who completed the survey! The clerks are now on their way back to their respective guildhalls to tally the votes before they are submitted to the guildleaders. We were able to briefly stop one for comment, and he admitted that they would be changing the titles to different levels, so that the guildleaders could better add more to the current pool. An overwhelming majority seemed to agree that they would like this approach the most.

Rumor has it that more clerks of this nature will be found to be roaming in the future, but there are no solid facts available yet. Bards are advised to keep a watch out in case more information for the guildleaders is needed.

2/23/2001 - A Bardic Survey:
Rumor has it that a group of clerks are traveling across Elanthia, seeking Bards to question them about their opinions and thoughts to record in a survey for the Bardic Guildleaders. They say that the mysterious clerks can be found either near places that Bards are familiar with or, in the more remote areas, where people are prone to gather. Each clerk seems to carry with them the same satchel filled with questions. What could they be up to? Perhaps you should seek one and find out.

2/2/2001 - Guildhouse Contest Entries Received!
This contest is now closed to new entries! During the coming month, the judges will be choosing winners from the wonderfully creative Guildhouse names that you folks have submitted. For a peek at the contest rules, check out the DragonRealms Message Boards, The Bard's Conservatory Folder, The Guild Guru Announcements Topic, Post #210. Good luck to everyone who participated! [I'll also leave the rules up for a few more days here under the Contests area --H]

1/26/2001 - Update to Naming of Tears:
Some of the mechanics in Naming of Tears were updated tonight in order to smooth out how it interacts with the game environment. You might notice little differences, but no values relating to the effectiveness of the enchante were changed.

As always, if you do happen to notice anything really odd you can either BUG what was happening or leave us a note on the boards.

1/24/2001 - Contest Deadline Approaching!
Bards, this is your one-week reminder about the approaching end of the Guildhouses contest! The deadline for your entries is midnight on February first, so don't forget to send in your entries or the chance to name your havens of music will pass by entirely! All Bards above circle five are welcome to enter, and if you have any questions at all either post them to the DragonRealms message boards or email the address in the rules above. Only a very few Bards have submitted entries so far, so feel free to join in on the fun!

12/21/2k - Albreda's Balm Fix:
Regarding the Balm -vs- Pirates, Elpalzi, and other things that go bump in the night -- After much digging (and lots of player input) I believe we've got this bug licked. As of tonight I put in a change so that if a critter resists (and they're not hidden, same as with PC's) you and others in the room should be properly messaged when the Balm does its thing. Please leave a note in the Bugs folder if there's any problem with the change.

12/18/2k - Name the Guildhouse Contest Announced!
Yes, you heard us right, this is a contest to name the Guildhouses of the Elanthian Bards! Why, do you ask? Well, naming the different Guildhouses opens the door for post-titles among other things, so keep that in mind when submitting your entry. See the new Guild Contests link to the left for Contest rules and information.

11/13/2k - Tapestry and Songbook Contest Winners Announced!
See the new Guild Contests section to the left for all the current and past contest info!

11/1/2k - Another shared ability with 'cooks' released:
From GM Royce:
The first of the sleight of hand skills was released on a 1 week premium preview. This is basicly a fluffly kind of ability for now. As time goes on the ability will expand to involve other things. But for now, It's coins from behind the ear type stuff (Gotta start somewhere).

This ability alone is for both us and Bards. What Bards get will vary just a tad from us. There are 8 things you can do with this ability, When you get your training, you'll learn the first. The rest you have to learn on your own via testing.

And, from our own GM Melodia:
If a Bard has enough training, they can do this as well. As GM Royce said, it will be just a bit different. But I think you'll enjoy it.

How do you do it? Ask your friendly neighborhood thief, they might be able to give you a clue, or two....

9/1/2k - Changes to WHISTLE:
Whistle for Bards only is now live. You must have a certain amount of experience in order to invoke it. You can type WHISTLE HELP to get the correct syntax.

Please do not assist if you can't whistle in a bardly manner, as you just need a bit more experience to do so. If you think there's a problem, please use BUG, or post your observations on the message boards.

Rakash Bards will only be able to whistle while in human form; and as they have no lips, Prydaen and S'kra will not be able to invoke the Bardic whistling. Please be patient, there's something else in the works for you guys that you'll be able to do instead.

Enjoy!

8/8/2k - Changes to Humming:
The Bardic Guildleader Yaziyi would like to announce new techniques that have been developed for humming complicated tunes. No more will Bards have to hum tunelessly in accompaniment to their favorite songs! This new skill is being rapidly taught to youngsters and travellers alike, and should spread to the breadth of the lands in no time at all.

[OOC: Bards now have the ability to hum with emotes! Type HUM HELP for usage. This change is only for Bards!]

8/7/2k - Bard Team Announces Tapestry contest:
Are you familiar with the history of Elanthia? More specifically, the historical events that Bards were a part of before the guild halls opened up again? Then this contest is for you! Design a tapestry that will be displayed in a room in one of the Bard guild halls. (No, we can't tell you which room, yet!) Entries MUST be submitted by midnight August 31st, pacific time. Select the Guild Events link to the left for complete contest rules and instructions. Any questions should be sent to DR-MELODIA@PLAY.NET. (This information is also available in game under News 28)

8/6/2k - Bard Team Announces Songbook contest:
Show off your skills and creativity by taking part in the "Design a Songbook" contest! Five winners will receive the finished copy of their songbook and one free alteration of the book. Entries MUST be submitted by midnight September 1st, pacific time. Select the Guild Events link to the left for complete contest rules and instructions. Any questions should be sent to DR-DERYKA@PLAY.NET. (This information is also available in game under News 28)

7/18/2k - Barbarian and Bard teams squash really nasty bug:
The standing problem between Barb Dances and Bard (combat related) Enchantes is repaired! No more will the mighty Barb's effectiveness be turned into mush, all those who enjoy the benefits of the Rage and the Tears rejoice! Special thanks to GM Veyl for helping us see the light on this one.

6/30/2k - Bug Request?:
The Bardic team wants to thank all of the players that have submitted BUGs pertaining to the instrument system! However, we would also like to ask you to have patience with us a while longer and hold off on more BUG reports related to instrument messaging, since this problem will hopefully be fixed permanently with the new system.

6/20/2k - Demrris' Resolve Messaging:
The problems with messaging for the Resolve, as well as the fact that it would sometimes not unhide people who succumbed to the Bard's singing, should all be fixed. Go get those critters, folks, and thanks for letting us know about the problems!

Brawling with Instruments:
The guildleaders, having heard that some people were using their instruments as weapons, became outraged and immediately took steps to prevent this. From now on no instrument, whether it is wielded by a Bard or not, should be able to be thrown or used as a weapon against a foe. If anyone finds a Bard using an instrument in this manner, they are encouraged to let the proper authorities know.
(OOC Translation: This is a notice that instruments won't be able to be used with brawling anymore! As always, if you find any bugs with this, just let us know.)

6/2/2k - Changes to the SONG verb:
Based on some fine suggestions from you, the players, SONG has been updated to make it a bit easier to find the information you want. Instead of one large screen scrolling list of enchantes and scroll songs, you can select all or just the category you want. Thanks to a quick suggestion when we released SONG, SONG "person" was added to the list for reference.

Eye of Kertigen Changes:
The enchante 'Eye of Kertigen' has been re-released with several new features and improvements.
