The Crash Space of...

"Unwelcome, Now Go Away!"

"Shit, wait a minute, you're one of us? I'll be damned. Just come on in then. Don't touch anything though. This place is dangerous, I'm serious. Don't let your paws wander. Ratkin Engineering is some pretty dangerous stuff. Can't have you just trapsin' through my place explodin' things. That's my job.

"Dear god, don't touch that! That's a very sensitive defense mechanism. It's based on technology rats were not meant to know! Just have a seat. Don't worry, the rats on the couch don't bite... hard. Seriously, Tommy and Jerinne over there are good company. They also have shiny bits. I see you have a shiny bit. Do you need that thing? Oh, okay, sorry. Just asking.

"Don't keep the people box on for too long though, you never know what they'll do next. Television? What the hell are you blabbering about? It's a people box! I know sometimes people aren't on it but stuff likes to get its peeks in too. But they can see you from inside of there that's why I don't leave it on. It's an umbra thing, how could you possibly understand? They say true geniuses are always mocked. Maybe someday you'll understand. And I hate that Jerry Springer guy. I know he's up to no good! Change the channel, he can see us from here! I don't want him asking me to be on his show!

"Oh, I see, you just wanted something from me. Now that's rude. Coming over here with no other goal than to watch me put these things together. Hah! You wouldn't understand! And no you can't have it. Go away, I'm busy! And tell those twitchers to stop coming around here looking for circular saws, I'm all out!

"Your shiny thing? I don't know what happened to it... what shiny thing are you talking about? No, you always had those buttons..."

Profile: There is no doubt about it. Danny Penzoil is nuts. >From the day he crawled out the stinking hole his mother bred in, he's always been twitchy. He got the birthing plague when he was about a year old and nice and fattened. While the plague worked it's will on poor Danny's already addled brain, he heard the chitterings of the Rat God. It told him how to build stuff. Not just easy things like klaives and little bags, but useful things. Things That Rats Were Not Meant To Know. Unfortunately, while all the ability to build the useful stuff took to the cracks of Danny's addled mind, it gave him some colored misconceptions about existing technology. When he isn't busy avoiding the one-eyed gaze of the "people box" or dodging "rat terminators" he's putting together defense mechanisms for his meager colony of about fifteen rats. He has an intense dislike of cats, and wants to visit the Itchy Zone so that he can exact his revenge someday on that bastard Tom who stares at him through the people box every saturday morning (not to mention he could pick up some keen tips from Jerry). His thought processes match his physical movements: Random and chaotic. He can occasionally sit back for days without getting another flash of insight. But when he gets started, beware the rat or man who would keep him from his goals. In addition to his chaotic tendencies, he also has the mark of a true engineer: kleptomania. "If it wasn't nailed down, you didn'tdeserve to own it," is Danny's motto, but like a true pack rat, he always leaves something behind in exchange for what he takes, but not always at a fair exchange rate. He's under the tutelage of a very old engineer, a Caged Folk rodens named Arthur who has instilled his random patterns of nastiness and cynicism into Danny. However, Danny in his enthusiastic nature has somehow made his rantings almost endearing and has earned him mild respect from the other low rank and file rodents of the warehouse. Breeding is secondary however and the Rat Mothers condemn him for this. Feh, breeding can be done later though in Danny's mind, he's got too many ideas to finish building. He can play later. The present is time to seek knowledge!

Roleplaying Hints:You have the attention span of a rat with attention defeceit disorder then injected with speed. You are a ball of unspent hyperactivity and the world is your playground It's up to you to figure out all of the playground's rules, especially the rules to make things like "people boxes" and "memory storage thingamajigs." You are obsessed with knowledge. If it hasn't been categorized, you'll try to categorize it. If it hasn't been tested, you'll test it. And if nobody's looking... you'll probably steal it.

Other Crap You Might Wanna Know

Mentor - Arthur is a mean old bastard of an engineer. He's served many colonies and no few plagues and deceits as well. He knows quite a bit, but since he's getting up there in years, he's becoming more and more addled. He's forgotten more stuff than many young ratkin engineers know and lets people know it. He's taken Danny into his tutelage out of the need to pass on what knowledge he has left and of course so he can pester the hell out of someone before he joins his ancestors in the umbra.

Colony - Danny's Colony is located in the walls of a Warehouse in the shipping district. The warehouse mostly carries mechanical/electrical parts, a veritable elysian fields of stuff for Danny to stea... uh, liberate (yeah, liberate). It's not real big, at most twenty, at least ten.

Appearance

Danny's Machines - Think of the traps and contraption used to open the fence in the Goonies and you have Danny's machines. Overly complex, his jury-rigging specialy usually takes all day to make (hence it's one per day usage) and are defensive as all get out. And violent. Did I forget violent? He has a bit of Twitcher in him some Ratkin say after seeing some of the more horrific and creative ways stupid humans and rats have been maimed when trying to enter his crash space unannounced.
