Libertarians on Campus at Keene State College
Home Page

"In the end more than they wanted freedom, they wanted security. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free."
-- Edward Gibbon (1737-1794)

[Nov. 21 Rainforest Benefit]

Welcome... Our group was founded in 1999, as the first current political group on campus at Keene State College. We strive to bring open political discussion, debate of ideas, and a greater awareness of Libertarian issues to the students of Keene State College, and our surrounding community.

We, as a group, support the candidacy of Libertarians in all levels of government, and the implementation of free-market ideas and policies on local, state and national levels. For information on our year 2000 candidates, click on name below:

Harry Browne for President
Art Olivier for Vice President
John Babiarz for Governor of New Hampshire
Dan Belforti for Congress
Michelle Otterson State Representative District 14 (Southern Keene Area)

We also refuse ALL funding from KSC (this is stated in our clubs Constitution),
believing that donations should be DONATED, and not coerced.

Rainforest Action Benefit

Just before Thanksgiving recess, Tuesday the 21st (No school the next day!), we hosted a Rainforest Action Benefit at the Mable Brown room on campus at Keene State College.
The Cling headlined this gig, and a portion of the proceeds raised ($3 admission) went towards buying portions of the Colombian Rainforest, saving it forever from destruction.
For each person who shows up, over 2,000 square feet of rainforest was saved!
The event ran from 7pm until 11.

The land was purchased through Allies in the Rain Forest, which is working to buy land on the west side of the Andes Mountains in Columbia to add to the preserved forest of Cachalú.
