Why I am running
I am sick of so-called representatives who do not care what their constituents want, but think that they know better than we do how we should run our lives.
I am running for office because I know that we have enough money in our budget to educate our children without raising taxes, but this money has been squandered on programs that we can't afford, don't need, and don't even work anyways. I also want to give parents more choices in education. I don't think our current school systems are doing the best they can, and certainly don't do much to foster individualism in students. I want to see a broader choice, because I trust families to know what is best for their children much more than I trust politicians to make that choice for us.
I am running for office because I know that most families in New Hampshire are struggling to pay their bills, and can't afford any additional taxes.
I want to give New Hampshire citizens their rights back. I want to lift the burden of the property tax. It has made housing too expensive for many of us.
We can both lower taxes and increase services that we need, but we would first have to cut a lot of fat out of the budget. In the New Hampshire budget, we currently spend $370,000 a year on a Commission on Cost Control. And if you ever get a chance to look at the budget, it becomes apparent that these people are not even doing their jobs.
I want to see a smaller government. I want to see people given the power to live their lives however they see fit. I know that people can make these choices better than the politicians can.
Why do I want to represent the people of District 14, New Hampshire? I know that most of us in this district are fed up with red tape every time we try to do something, and we can't afford the taxes we're paying now, let alone any new taxes. We already get an astounding amount of money in federal grants. Why can't the government seem to provide any services for this money? Why are our schools failing, even though the federal government throws more and more money at them? And why should we continue to give them more, if it's only going to get lost to bureaucrats because it's all thrown into a general fund, and not even earmarked specifically for education? Something obviously needs to be done.
But why me? Well, no one else seems to be addressing any of these issues. I'm willing to do whatever I have to in order to fix the budget, keep any new taxes from being implemented, and give people more of their rights back. I feel that the people of this district need to be truly represented. They know what they want. They don't need someone to tell them what's best for them. I'm willing to listen to my constituency, and do whatever they tell me. I want to protect their rights. I want to government out of their wallets, and off their backs. I know that the only way to do this is to shrink government.
This can best be done in conjunction with other Libertarian candidates, such as Dan Belforti for Congress, John Babiarz for Governor, Art Olivier for Vice President, and Harry Browne for President, who are willing to fight for your rights. I have personally met with all of these candidates, and I feel that they are the best possible choice that we could make on the ballot this year.
I don't have the answers as to how you should live your life. But I know that you do. I just want to protect your freedom to make those choices.
