The town was in peril. Evil was on the loose, Danger was at every turn. An ordinary man would have run away. But Lex Logan was no ordinary man. Lex Logan was a Man of ADVENTURE. From his perch atop the gymnasium, he watched the gunmen mill about in the midst of their frightened captives. His eyes narrowed as one menaced Rebecca Rowan. It was time to act. At his left wrist, a shield snapped to life. At his right, a slim cylinder extended from his sleeve, sliding neatly into his palm. A flip of his wrist and an arc of energy linked his lance to the steam vent. His cord-like muscles bunched, and he leapt into the air, swinging on a chain of light. Gravity embraced him like a lover, and he gladly succumbed to her tender mercies. CRASH!!! Leather coat flaring, he dove through the skylight feet-first. As he landed, the lash detached, coiling about him like a serpent of flame. "DIE!!!!" the gunmen shouted. With a mental command, he released his shield, allowing it to dance across his body, sapping the bullets’ momentum. "My turn," he whispered, and smiled. Three gunmen passed out, and two turned and ran. With a negligent flip of his wrist, he let his whip snake out, caressing them with 5,00 volts. They joined their comrades in dreamland. Five gunmen remained. As they closed, they drew a collection of blades, chains, and assorted weapons of mayhem. Lex spun his whip, allowing the chain to retract. A practiced twist, and the handle extended a full 6 feet. "Let’s rock." The fight was ugly, brutal, and short. At the end, he stood alone, and untouched. His hands flashed out, allowing his weapons to retract. Before he could return them to his sides, Rebecca rushed up and wrapped her arms around him. "Oh, Alex," she sighed, melting into his chiseled form. "Rebecca. Are you OK?" "I am now," she murmured, leaning back to meet his steely gaze. He bent down to her. She closed her eyes. Her lips parted, ever so slightly. Thy moved closer. "All my life, all I ever wanted was you, A-..." "ALEX! You'll be late for school!" Alexander Logan's eyes snapped open. "Just once," he moaned, staring at the ceiling, "Just once, I'd like to get the girl."
