Perforated Basket (PB) or truncated cone strainers are an alternative design to the conical strainer.
PB strainer performance is comparable to the PC strainer with the advantage of larger internal volume for retained solids; this results in lower pressure drops over time and subsequently longer allowable time between clean outs.
PB strainers contain more open area than an equivalent length cone strainer.
Another advantage over the PC strainer style is the shorter required lengths.
This allows the PB strainer to be used in shorter runs of pipe and where available pipeline is limited.
