|         Valves for discharging and safety devices.   This family of valves are designed to remove fluid from a piping system.   They may discharge to another piping system, to a drain, to the atmospher or even to a vessel operating at a lower pressure.   They are often automatic in operation.   Since a valve that works by levers and weights can easily be render inoperative by personnel most pressure relieving valves are spring loaded. |

|         Safety Valves Safety valves are operated by system pressure and are almost always mounted directly onto either the piping or the vessel that is being protected.   It is a rapid opening or popping action for use with air or other gases. |
