WHY A Tower is better than an extended pylon

The boat manufacturers have made it possible to install towers on all new boats.  There are several after market manufacturers to make the towers.  Some may be local and some not so local.  There are some distinct advantages to the tower.  First, the boat does not have the tendency to roll as much.  When you get out next to the boat for a Raley or big inverted trick, the towers tend to keep the boat more level.  Towers also have many angles and cross pieces to make it rigid.  This rigidity helps load the rope for that extra pull to rotate faster.  The extended pylons, I don't care how tight you get them, flex.  Lastly, the tower is capable of attachments to get boards up off the floor allowing for more fat sacks or people.  Plus you get the added bonuses of having a sound system to listen to as you ride and you can even put on the spot lights for night boarding.

How to Get up for the first time

1.      This is, for most people, the easiest way to get up. Sit or lay in the water with your knees bent and the board parallel with the boat. Instead of starting out at 5mph, when you are ready, have the driver floor it. This will have the effect of "popping" you out of the water. Once you start to feel the pressure on your legs, lean foward and turn the board to stand up.

2.      If you get bored with getting up the other way, try this. Crouch on the board with the front tip sticking up out of the water. Have the driver go about 5mph until you get your balance. When you are ready yell "Go!" or whatever. The boat driver should floor it and you will feel pressure from the board as it tries to puch against you. Let the board turn sideways as you plow through the water. When I started wakeboarding the pressure of the water automatically made the board turn. Don't fight it and after about two seconds you should extend your legs and stand up. You will know when to do this because you will begin to be pulled out of the water as you gain speed. Try not to stand up too soon because that will make you fall.
