| Summary: | Rennar gets stuck in a tree, after being terrified by a dog. Demonder attempts to 'save' Rennar from the big monster that obviously has her so upset. |
Arboretum: Inner City, Caemlyn
Though not exactly busy, the Arboretum's well kept grounds manages to keep it a
popular spot in Caemlyn: a quiet escape from the chaos of the streets always
ready to welcome any and all that should seek her out.
Not far off, couples walk hand in hand, threading their way through the
garden's winding paths. All around, leaves and flowers alike are responding to
the onset of autumn, the garden filled with warm reds, oranges and yellows.
Every now and again, cool breezes blow through, stirring stray leaves across
the small pond and nearby paths as the Creator cleans up the world for the
coming winter. Small stone-lined paths creep off the park's main path, offering
visitors a chance to slip away and find their own 'private' spot to sit and
enjoy the greenery all around. At the western most end of the park, a high
wrought-iron fence is surrounds three large trees, their crowns rivaling the
nearby towers of the Inner City. Nestled amidst the ancient giants is a small
gatehouse, nearly obscured with creeping ivy.

Obvious exits:
Ferret Run Caembarin Boulevard
A strange sight indeed, greets the eyes of the newcomer within this particular
neck of the city.
A young woman appears to be stuck up in a tree, clinging to it on what apppears
to be for dear life. There is /no/ mistaking who this particular socialite is,
for it's none other than Rennar Hune - her face as whiter than any could have
seen it before, even with her odd gift.
A casual manner does lead the young Lord into the gardens, Demonder does stop
in his tracks. There is a sudden shock as his eyes go wide open, and only a
moment later his feet spring into action toward the tree Rennar is hanging
from, hands out stretched. "Renni!?"
Not answering the lord, Rennar continues to cling to the tree in a fearful
manner. A spot or two in her dress appears to be ripped, though a quick
deduction could lead to the fact that it happened when she tried climbing the
tree, on whatever shape she chose to do so. She appears to be shaking, and in
some sort of shock over something or another, head against the tree and eyes
closed tightly.
Two birds burst out of a tree chasing each other in a fury of chirping.
"Renni?" Demonder asks again, more quietly this time, his arms outstretched as
the moment of panic begins to calm over him. "Just let go, I'll catch you?"
there is a slight question in his voice on that.
"I... is... is...." Rennar starts to stammar, though clings to the tree ever
tightly. She swallows, hard, and tries again, "I... is it g...g.. gone?"
Demonder one hand reaches for his axe handle, as well trained eyes search the
opening. "What?" he asks with sudden alarm, as he is clearly in preparation for
battle. Well, almost, with the acception of the one hand that seems to be held
out in case Renni falls.
"Th... th.. the beast... i.. is it g... gone...?" Rennar's eyes are closed
tightly, not daring to see what's down below. She seems very much genuinely
frightened, her face no less white than when Demonder came into the gardens.
Sitting comfortably upon a bench, an elderly gentleman of advanced years rests
age-veined hands upon a walking stiff lightly, his eyes drifting sleepily
closed to nap within the peaceful confines of the park.
"Beast?" Demonder questions, eyes alert, as he begins to do circles around the
area, scanning each bush, each tree. "What did it look like? Surely a Trolloc
isn't walking through here!" he exclaims, though he might as well be ready to
fight one. Perhaps, though he hardly know what one looked like. "I don't see
anything of dnager."
"Th.. the.. the d.. do... dog." Rennar murmurs, her voice barely heard at all;
but understandable.
There are signs that a dog has been indeed in the park, from the patch of
ground that appears to be recently unearthed.
Demonder's eyes grow wide as he expects the worst. What monsters must he be
imagining, as the belt around the axe-handle is loosened for quicker retrieval.
When Renni murmurs dog, he pauses a moment. His mind tries to contrast dog with
a beast. "Was it a large dog?" he asks suddenly, looking up at his fiancee.
Realizing he's directly under, he quickly turns his cast downward and takes a
step back.
A small bird gracefully lands on a near by branch, then sweetly sings.
Rennar quickly nods her head, still keeping her eyes closed tightly. She
appears to grip the tree tighter as well, as if to reaffirm that she's in a
safe place; not upon the ground and in danger.
After the battle-ready stance fades away, Demonder simply looks up with a
strange amusement. At first he seems to want to laugh, but then decides to hold
that back. His fiancee is, after all, still hanging on to a branch for her
life. This time, he does stand bellow her, looking up over her dress. "Come on
Renni, I'll save you," he speaks in a dramatic voice. "Though you are allowing
your husband-to-be a interesting view from bellow here," he adds with a smile,
not actually looking under her dress.
"I... is it gone...?" Rennar repeats herself, looking like she's not going to
move from her frightened spot until there's confirmation that things are safe
again.
Walking out of the shade of the trees, you feel the warmth of the sun on your
skin.
Demonder looks around again, satisfied that there is no dog in sight. "Yes
Renni, its gone." With outstretched hands he readies again. "Come on Renni,
I'll protect you if the /beast/ comes back," he adds with a short smile. "Just
let go so I can catch you, okay?"
Rennar ventures to lift her head up a bit, looking about the area carefully. It
appears she is checking this for herself, eyes opening. She takes a deep
breath, as if having been holding hers, then carefully lets go to jump down
from her spot in the branches.
Demonder doesn't seem prepared for the falling Renni, feet first, the skirt of
her dress flings up as she falls. Demonder does catch her though, first with an
arm capturing her exposed legs, and the second taking her around the shoulder.
His knees flex as he does, leaving her comfortably in his arms.
The dress manages to wrap itself about her in a haphazard fashion, exposing
some things that are best left unexposed. However once she's settled down, if
she is, everything falls back into its proper place once more. Rennar wraps her
arms about Demonder, hugging him tightly. Her fear is still evident, but
there's also that trust there as well.
A bee is collecting pollen on the vast garden of flowers.
Demonder pulls Renni close into him as he swings her around slowly. "Its
alright Renni, the dogs gone." His voice is absent his humor on the situation,
as he comforts her fears. "You'll be alright, love, I'm going to protect you,
okay?"
Rennar nods her head slowly, not letting go of Demonder for a good long time.
She does, in the end, manage to compose herself, her face turning to something
rather neutral and unreadable, "You must think me some sort of child."
Demonder looks to Renni, enjoying having his fiancee in his arms, and offers
her a warm smile. "I'm sure it was a big dog, Renni," he comments lightly.
Rennar gives a small shrug of her shoulders, keeping her features under strict
control, "It was a dog." She comments, as if that's all there needs to be.
"Thank you."
"You don't like dogs?" Demonder asks the obvious question, his eyes warming on
hers no matter how strict her features are.
Three brothers are playing tag amongst the bushes.
Rennar shakes her head quietly, "Was nearly killed by a few once." She
comments, lowering her eyes.
A faint glimmer of a smile comes to her lips, though Rennar shrugs quietly,
"It's only cloth... I can get a new one."
Demonder is in no rush to let Renni out from his arms, he continues to carry
her along the trees. "You must have made a quick climb of that three," he
continues on, a smile trying to urge hers on. "It did not look like an easy
climb, and at what speed you must have made your way up. You practiced a lot as
a child, didn't you?"
Rennar shrugs her shoulders a bit, murmuring quietly, "I suppose."
Demonder nods as he whips her around in his arms quickly. "Did Her Majesty
climb trees as well?"
Rennar blinsk as Demonder whips her about, "Not that I can recall... I was
never close to her majesty until Mogrenne took the throne."
Three brothers are playing tag amongst the bushes.
Demonder lifts her shoulders and head toward his, and attempts to look into
those eyes. "It seems you will be unable to change your mood while thinking of
that dog, did you want me to carry you back to the palace?" There is no doubt
in his eyes that he would, carry her just like that, back to the palace.
"I'll walk..." Rennar murmurs, a small smile creeping on her lips. "That is if
you'll venture to put me down."
Demonder thinks on that for a moment. "No, no," he responds. "I will carry you
right through the palace hall. Or halls, would be more appropriate. And if
anyone asks, I will say you bravely faught away the beasts that walk the
gardens, and tell them you now need your rest." He makes no motion to put her
down, and in fact, begins walking toward the street.
Rennar blinks widely at Demonder, but does not stop him from carrying her; too
dumbstruck to protest, "And when they find out it was merely a dog?'
Demonder continues on toward the gates. "Oh, I assure you, half the Queen's
Guards will be walking this very field in search of the beast," he responds.
"And we shall have that beast captured, and insure that you can walk through
these very grounds again." He suddenly stops in his strides, sending Renni
forward in his arms before drawing her back into him. "Otherwise, how else
would we explain the rips of your dress. And your hands? They probably have
splinters." Though he seems amused at his own comments, the last part does
touch him with concern. "Do they?" he asks more seriously.
Rennar appears to frown now, her humor gone, "We will tell them no such thing.
I can just say I fell and hit a tree at the same time. That's truth enough for
anyone,r ather than concocting some sort of story that gets over half the
palace doing something that'll make me look like a laughing stock." She clamps
her jaw shut a bit, then looks at her hands, shrugging, "A few.I'll be fine
once I get back to my room and changed."
Demonder sighs at Renni after she finishes, and does put her down. Not for her
words, but to look at her hands, which becomes apparant as he takes them in his
to look over the damage. "I think after some years living together you will see
my humor in better terms," he coments with a smile, though concern touches his
eyes.
Two birds burst out of a tree chasing each other in a fury of chirping.
A man bursts between the bushes with a cross-bow, and lets an arrow fling at
the birds. The shot just barely misses.
Rennar jumps as the man comes barreling out of the bushes, already skiterish as
it is from the dog. As she jumps, her hands are pulled from Demonder's own,
involuntarily.
Demonder takes Renni with a comforting arm around her shoulder, and leads her
toward the exit. "Perhaps there is reason enough to send in the guards," he
comments dryly as he leads Renni out. "But tell me, you did not think I'd tell
the Palace that tale, did you?"

Caembarin Boulevard: Inner City, Caemlyn
The Inner City of Caemlyn is built upon the highest peaking hills, surrounded
by a fortified wall built of polished granite with gleaming white marble
inlays. One can look down over the gentle slopes of the rest of the city from
the many vantage points along the wall. The streets have been crafted to follow
the natural contours of the hills, and are paved in silver-streaked gray. A
large park-like area lies to the western edge of the walled Inner City.
The streets of the Inner City are quiet now, with only a few citizens enjoying
the lush landscape of the park. Dead leaves of red, yellow and brown are being
swept around by mild autumnal breezes. A white stone-paved road leads to the
south, winding uphill, and its twin leads off to the east. To the north lies
Origan Gate, which leads into the New City.

You continue southward, walking along the white paved street that spirals
around the hill, toward the Queen's Plaza.
The Queen's Plaza: Inner City, Caemlyn(#749RJMa$)
A large, oval-shaped plaza, paved with pristine white stones faces the tall
gates of the Royal Palace. Spires and golden domes can be seen from over the
walls.
A few Queen's Guards, clothed in red undercoats with long white collars, patrol
the perimeter of the Palace. The red, yellow and browns of autumn blanket the
patches of lawn here in the Queen's Plaza. The first chill breezes of winter
bite at your cheeks. The tall, gilded gates of the Royal Palace are guarded by
a group of Queen's Guards. White stone-paved roads lead to the south and to the
northeast.

Rennar arrives with Demonder.
Rennar give sa small shrug of her shoulders, murmuring quietly, "Honestly, I
don't know what you'd say to them." She comments, leaning in against Demonder
as he walks her along.
Demonder sighs at that. "Renni, I wouldn't have my wife-to-be sound foolish by
making up a tale," Demonder responds. "And I'd keep anything that causes you
discomfort to myself."
Rennar nods her head quietly to Demonder, "I'm not quite myself lately." She
comments softly. "Dogs tend to.... to..." She sighs, unable to complete her
thought, "I'm just not."
"I understand, of course," Demonder responds. "You have other matters to deal
with, none of which show any humor. And much to worry upon."
The guards confiscate any _visible_ weapons and you are provided with an escort
of two armed Queen's Guards for the duration you are on the Palace grounds,
unless said escort is dismissed by a higher authority.
Palace Courtyard: Royal Palace of Andor, Caemlyn
A large, wide-open courtyard surrounds the breathtaking beauty of the Royal
Palace of Andor. The pale beauty of the famed Ogier stonework, its high
terraces and balconies and golden domes making your eye travel higher and
higher to see more. The courtyard is very austere, with well-tended patches of
lawn offsetting the stark white of the paving stones.
Small groups of Queen's Guards patrol the area, keeping it safe from any
intrusion. The smell of delicious foods cooking fills the air. A small group of
servants prepares the Palace for the pre-winter cleaning. The stone of the
courtyard and steps leading to the Palace are being carefully scrubbed. The
massive, double doors to the Palace are guarded by a small group of Queen's
Guards. A small path paved in white stone leads off to the west, and the great
gates lead back out into the Queen's Plaza.

Rennar arrives with Demonder.
Rennar glances sidelong at Demonder, giving him a small hug as she walks along
with him. "Indeed, among other problems on top of problems. Never a dull
moment." She sighs heavily, "Maybe I should have stayed in Tar Valon longer. I
was starting to enjoy my time there."
Demonder squeezes the shoulder that he holds in his hands, and smiles warmly.
"So was I, things were simpler. Well, once you moved to the Inn, anyway. I
would not question you if you suggested we run away from here, and make our
life together elsewhere. But, I know that is not what you want either. You will
not let your Uncle have the power he would abuse, not when it is yours to
have."
Rennar groans at the mentioning of her uncle. "He can not have pwoer. He'd be
worse than Mogrene on the phone." She sihgs quietly.
"You will overcome his dangers," Demonder responds. "You are beautiful," there
is still that touch of wonder in his voice as he says that, "and have the
strength your position requires. The strength to overcome those challenges."
Rennar nods her head quietly as she listens, then comes to a stop, murmuring
quietly, "I think, that i should go in a lone from this point unless they think
you accosted me." She smiles lightly, "And I am a little tired."
Demonder holds back the smile as he shakes his head with amusement. That does
not stop him to lean forward for a quick kiss. "Of course, you are probably
right."
Rennar accepts the kiss with a soft smile, eyes regarding her fiance once more,
"Thank you... I probably would have been stuck there for ages, had you not come
along."
Demonder does let his laugh go then, as he regards Renni with warm eyes. "I
love you," he says, before they depart.
"And I love you." Rennar manages to get out before turning and making her way
inside.
