| Summary: | Cende meets with Lady Rennar to bid her a fond farewell. She informs her patron that she will be leaving Andor, as Prince Theowyn has made his decision as to who he wishes to spend dote his affections upon. She is returning to Shienar, but in the meantime offers Rennar the services of Fischer and Hawk, men she's worked with along the Border front, highly recommending them. |
Courtyard Gardens: Tiras Lorn, Caemlyn
Large white stone surrounds the courtyard of House Hune. Set into the western wall is the gate, leading out of the manor. The manor house itself lies to the east. A large marble portico runs down the middle of the courtyard in a north/south direction, effectively dividing the large yard in half. It is large enough to hold several wagons, and contains the stables in the northwest corner. The half of the yard closest to the manor house is contained by the portico which runs along the courtyard walls as well, and connect to the house. This creates a covered walkway to protect you from the elements; shade from the sun, and a roof to keep off rain and snow. The ground here is paved with stone, with only a few weeds growing up here and there. In the center of the paved area is a square flower garden.
You sit down on the Tree Swing.
Cende pulls open the gate and comes in from the path.
Today is Fourday, 23 Shaldine, 999 NE. It is an Autumn afternoon.
Cende enters, speaking as usual to the guards. This time, however, she is followed by several tough-looking men and is leading a horse. She is dressed in a nearly military uniform, and the horse is packed for travel. She starts to approach the house as she scans the area, then sees Rennar and changes course. As she moves close, it can be seen her eyes are red-rimmed, but her face is calm.
Enjoying the autumn afternoon, Lady Rennar finds herself lightly pushing herself back and forth while she sits on the swing hung from one of the trees closest to the manse. Rennar looks up as the sound of hooves clipping against the dirt drift in her direction. Delicately, she lifts a brow in Cende's direction, nodding her head gently. "Good afternoon, Cende." Her eyes trail curiously to the men behind her, and then the horse.
Having left the horse behind her, Cende now comes forward, then men staying a respectful distance back. "Hello, Rennar." She stops, and considers for a moment, then simply says "There's no easy way to put this. It's over, he's chosen. I'm leaving, but I won't leave you unprotected. These men" She guestures to the men waiting patiently, "Are all men I've worked with. Honorable. Loyal to whomever they work for, and they can't be bought out of a contract. Here." She brings out a packet "References for them. And they each have mine, for whatever that's worth. They're all looking for a place to settle now, instead of travelling around. They know the decision to hire them is up to you and your husband, but you need guards, and this saves you the first step.
Surprise mars Rennar's features for a few scant moments. She reaches out to take the papers presented to her, eyes casually glancing over them, "I trust your judgement Cende." There's a faint pause as she regards the other woman. Quietly, she murmurs, "I'm sorry it couldn't have gone the other way." A faint smile comes to her lips, "I liked having you around." Its a small admission. Her eyes go to the guards, carefully looking over each one. "Demonder will want to speak with each of them, but I can't foresee any problems with getting them settled here."
Cende smiles briefly. "I liked being here. But I can't stay now." She nods to the men, and waves two over, a blonde man with a sword, and a dark haired man with an axe and a patch over one eye. "These are Fischer," the blonde bows "and Hawk." The dark man bows as well. "They're very good. They're partners - everything on them you'll find together." The men smile and move back "If you need someone to escort you, I would recommend them. Alone, either of them is as good as I am." She faces Rennar and gives a quiet, Arafellian salute "Peace and Light favor you, Rennar, and your family. I will not be back."
The young High Seat nods to each, greeting each separately. "A pleasure to meet you both." She turns her attention to Cende, "I'll keep that in mind if I need to go somewhere." Pausing, she presses her lips together. "Light guide your path, Cende. And Peace favor your sword. You'll be missed."
Cende turns, and moves back to her horse, leading it away instead of mounting. A few nods, a quiet word to the men she brought, and she is gone.
Cende pushes open the heavy gate and leaves the courtyard.
