| Summary: | Lady Cherise and Master Lelldorin of House Roesone announe their impending nuptuals in a semi-public dinner including several notables of Andor. Several new members of House Roesone were also introduced within this particular social setting, including Demonder's long lost brother Liam. |
Great Hall: Roesone Manor, Caemlyn
Set in traditional Andoran style, the Great Hall serves for both as the place for main entertainment of guests, and the part of the manor that is home for all Roesone's to share. The room can serve multi purposes, this is for certain, as the large table used to entertaining many guests is typically placed away in place of a smaller and more intimate setting with a few tables spread across either side of the room. Couches and chairs line the walls where they are free from paintings, and at center is what could easily be a dance floor once the carpet is removed. Marble lines much of the floor, but for the few parts that are laid with carpet. Centered in the far wall of this room is the fireplace, one large enough to heat up this room in the winter time. The windows are set to the front of the house, as two bay windows are to the both sides of the entrance. As one moves further west through a wide hallway, the exit to the gardens can be seen, as well as the rooms for servants and staff. To the east the kitchens are found. Just to the side of the fireplace spiralling oak stairs lead toward the upstairs floor.
Darayn, Liam, Rio, Carinae, Turail, Lelldorin, Cherise, Borric, Monya
Rio smiles. "And how could I not? It is very welcome to have an event that is not linked with the ongoing war for a change." She turns to Cherise, "How go your wedding preparations? The date is still rather far off, I understand?"
Rio takes a glass of wine from the servent as she continues to speak with Cherise and Monya.
Pausing at the door, Rennar speaks to one of the servants before entering completely. A rather trim looking blonde man follows her into the manse. Finishing with the servant, Rennar turns to speak a few words to the blonde stranger. He nods to something she speaks, then turns to walk just outside the door. With that matter finished with, she turns once more to spy out those who have come to the event.
Liam nods, grinning as he glances to the blonde on his arm. She's remained rather quiet so far, serenely glancing around the Great Hall as Liam escorts her. "It would take a lot more than a few years in the vineyards to change me, cousin. I missed the city taverns."
"Andoran customs!" Cherise snorts softly in reply to Rio's question. She gestures with her wineglass and grins wryly. "Ah well..I have found ways to get around them.." One of which obviously is the new dress she had made just for this occasion. Scandalous is in the mind of the beholder.
Lelldorin rolls his eyes just as comically, clapping Liam on the arm. "Yes, I imagine so. We had some good times when we were younger, eh?" He smiles, looking out across the room. A smile that fades when his gaze falls on the form of Darayn. His eyes begin to smolder as he looks at that one. He tries to control himself. It would be a shame to ruin the party, but....
Monya smiles graciously to the servant and waves the wine off. She's not sure the butterflies in her stomach really need the alcohol right now. As the servant moves away she turns back to the conversation between her sister and Rio, smiling and trying to look like her mind is completely here.
Liam follows Lelldorin's gaze to Darayn, then turns back to Lelldorin, "What exactly have I missed while I was away?"
Borric looks around, slowly, and then moves off towards a corner of the room. Much easier to look around, from there.
Rio has to smile at the remark. "Among my people, marriage is considered between the woman and the man. If they are ready, then that is all it takes. But then, the travelling folk are not andoran." She shakes her head, there is a world of difference between the free spirited tuatha'an and the society of andoran noblity. "Your cousin Delaemar was able to circumvent these customs then? I saw he and his wife Kismet only a week ago. I don't believe that they've known each other a year."
The sandy haired lord replies, his eyes not breaking from the form of the hune, Darayn. "Too much, Liam." He practically growls, and turns back to his cousin, controlling himself somewhat. What is this? Control? "I assume you have heard of the death of dear Cathryn?" He swallows, his gaze sad as he looks at Liam.
Cherise freezes at the mention of Deleamar and Kismet. So does her smile..Her response is cool and a little sarcastic. "Well, did he really have a choice? She /is/ carrying his child, after all, Rio Sedai.."
Liam nods sadly, "I would have returned then, but...well...it would not have been good for me."
Taking only moments to spy out the people present, the Daughter-heir makes her way into the room a touch more. It is her cousin, Darayn, that she notes first. Rennar's lips quirk upward in the barest hints of a smile. "Ah, Cousin... good to see you here." She murmurs lightly, still paying attention to those about her.
Still sprawled in the chair he sought earlier, Turail sips slowly at the wine in his hand, and merely watches the room. He can occasionally see Cherise and Lelldorin through the crowd of milling nobility, and then occasionally glimpses of Lady Belmond, and Monya. He makes a point not to listen to the snatches of conversation around him which he could so easily pick out.
NOT the best topic to be mentioning in front of Monya - that's for damn sure. Ah, but Rio probably doesn't know and so the noblewoman in cornflower blue will not fault her. Instead she will excuse herself from the conversation and glide across the floor to the servant carrying the tray of wine. Now that the butterflies in her belly are now ticked off, perhaps some wine will calm them. Cathryn is mentioned as she passes Lelldorin and Monya suddenly considers a LOT of wine.
Lelldorin presses his lips together, nodding. "It was not good for any, Liam. When I heard the news, I myself returned." He shakes his head. "And then this hogwash about Turail not being the rightful heir.." He sighs. "There is a lot happening that we do not know about.."
Carinae making an assumption that Turail's attentions have been taken to matters of responsibility, stops a passing servant to inquire as to Turail's leave. The servant scans the room, obviously needing a moment to even find the Lord herself. She points Carinae in the direction of the fireplace, where Carinae is able to settle her eyes once more on Turail. Carinae nods a thank you to the servant and mills through the mass of people, offering a smile and greeting to those who call out to her. Refusing to linger this time however, she finds herself in front of the sprawled Lord Captain. Falling into a curtsy, her head rising last, "Lord Captain Roesone." ..and a smile pleasantly demand his attention.
Darayn's answering smile is wry, shielded from sight partly by the glass raised in silent toast to the direction of Lelldorin's admiring gaze, "Lady Rennar," he greets warmly, sparing the Daughter-Heir a rather formal bow, "I am a bit surprised to find you here. As a matter of fact," he adds, sipping lightly from his glass, "I'm rather surprised to find /myself/ here."
Rio looks surprised as the two women seem to freeze, sensing that perhaps she has walked into uncertain footing. "I believe that she is." She shakes her head, "I apologize, Cherise. Being of the tuatha'an myself and understanding their customs, I forgot to include your own into the consideration."
A touch of confusion comes to Rennar's brow at Darayn's words, "Why would you be surprised to find me here? Have not House Hune and House Roesone joined Houses?" She speaks of her own marriage to Demonder. She chuckles lightly, "And were is your date this evening?" She inquires, looking about half-expectantly.
"She may have married a lord, Rio Sedai, but she does not bear the title of Lady, by order of our High Seat," Cherise informs the Grey sister, her voice still in a cool mode as she easily segues into a different topic. It's her party after all, and she will dang well turn the conversation if she wants to. "I thought perhaps you would bring Tebrya with you this evening. She tells me that she is quite the musician.."
Liam sighs as he shakes his head, but his smile is quick in returning, "I have missed far too much. Well, I am back now and surely we can all benefit from that." His smile becomes a teasing smirk as his token date giggles to herself.
Monya takes up a glass of wine from the servant's tray and drifts past the young girl like a wraith, her skirts whispering gently as she walks. Deleamar... Kismet... Cathryn... and ultimately Desdemona, the servant she trusted with her very life. It all comes flooding back to her and as she gazes at a sconce on the wall, candles flickering away merrily, her eyes go unfocused.
Lelldorin shakes his head with a smile, rolling his eyes again. Some people never change. How... refreshing! "Well, thank you for coming, Liam. Hopefully we can have an outing to the Rose and Lion soon for some ale." He winks, and turns to try to locate his betrothed. She seems to have run off...
Liam's eyes twinkle in anticipation, "That would be grand, Lelldorin. Hopefully they have some new serving girls, yes?" Truly incorrigible, this one.
Rio seems to welcome the shift in the conversation away from the tuatha'an woman and her new husband. "Normally, I would be glad to have her with me. She makes an able bodyguard and is a good friend as well. However, she is still beyond the walls of Caemlyn. I'm expecting her in the next day or two."
When the crowd parts for him next, Lady Belmond is not where she was last, and it's Turail's turn to scan the room for her, trying to keep track of her a bit himself so that he may give greetings when she is free. Certainly a popular lady. He is therefore surprised to find Carinae before him, having had no warning of her approach, so busy was he looking for her across the room. He uncoils from the overstuffed chair rather speedily, "Lady Belmond." the Lord bows with a slight flourish of his hand as it travels from heart to brow, his black topknot falling forward slightly with the bow. "A pleasure to see you arrived." His eyes do examine her somewhat however, his offer of an escort never answered.
His eyes are light, but Darayn's tone is lighter still as he turns to converse with the Lady of his House, "Well, I am not so much surprised you are here, Rennar, but that you are here with only one guard, or without Demonder here as well...but that, I suppose, is part of the perrogative of the Daughter-Heir, no?" He chuckles softly at his jest, yet continues on after only this shortest of pauses, "As far as my own companionship is concerned, I've chosen to attend this event alone...in the event the situation becomes too threatening for my un-betrothed sensibilities to withstand.
Demonder comes in from the courtyard.
It is perhaps to everyone's benefit that Rennar is not near the conversants speaking of her sister; Tebrya, otherwise known as Calisa Hune. "I normally only travel with one guard." She points out to Darayn, "Unfortunately, Cende has left the city. The man I brought with me this evening was Fischer, one of a pair she left behind in her stead. Hawk is the other." A light smile touches her eyes, "And who's to say that Demonder is not here? He is, afterall, a Roesone himself. Likely he has many people wanting to catch up with him, which is why his entrance has been delayed."
"Is she now?" Cherise muses idly, sipping her Roesone Red. "She travels much, then? I suppose..but she does more than just play music, I know..that sword she wears is quite nice.."
Carinae swallows, well, and noticeably as Turail takes her in. "Am I to fear that the length of my neglect to accept your arm this night finds you changed of heart?" Now Carinae is Andoran, and rather straightforward. Comfortably, as the finish of her query allows the corners of her mouth to begin to rise, and her eyes to sparkle with the aid of the firelight, while she once again takes in this new Lord Captain she has recently come to know. Turail has recently communicated with Carinae after having met her. Assisting her with House matters and spilling in a little personal. That of course has the only Belmond Lady standing before him, awaiting his response.
Monya smiles bemusedly as she tries to imagine a certain someone dressed in noble regalia and leading her into the party on his arm. She turns and scans the room a brief moment, noting any recent arrivals, and then folds one arm across her belly, resting her elbow in its palm as she holds her drink up near her face.
Rio sips at her own wine, continuing her quiet conversation with Cherise at the side of the room. "Tebrya is a woman of many talents, music being only one of them. She has come a long way in the past few years." Rio doesn't comment upon Tebrya's sword work, being that it is a skill that few women possess and this being polite society and all. "Perhaps once she returns, we could all meet again? I'm sure that she will have a few interesting tales about her recent travels to share."
Demonder pats the Roesone Guard on the shoulder as the two make their entrance. "Well, there are five already," he continues the conversation with the guard, sweeping through the entrance. "A few more are thinking it over. You should see, its a rather interesting following." The Roesone guard he walks with has an axe at his hip, as does Demonder. The two trade their goodbyes, Demonder moving further into the Great Hall with a light acknowledgement of a few of the servants and other staff about. He clearly is looking for his wife, sweeping his attention across the group.
Borric looks around from the corner he has positioned himself in, eyes searching through the room, before he simply looks around, slowly.
Liam turns his gaze elsewhere in the room, looking around for someone else who might remember him. Upon spotting Demonder, he raises his free arm in greeting, "Demonder!" He then leans closer to the blonde woman on his arm and whispers to her. She nods and moves away to mingle with the guests as Liam moves towards his brother.
The smile comes back into place on Cherise's face now as Rio picks up on the turn of conversational topic. "Indeed..I think that could be arranged. Tales of the well-travelled." She muses aloud. "Lelldorin has travelled far as well. But I've only been to Whitebridge and back.."
Monya at least makes a pretty wallflower as she stands to the back of the room, wine in hand and back towards the wall. She watches the crowd through distant eyes, smiling to herself now and again at some thought or another. The dancing flames of the candles in the sconce above her head, casts a reddish halo about her dark hair which seems to cascade down around her, making her seem a thing of dreams.
"No my Lady, the offer is still open if you care to accept it." Turail responds to Carinae's query in his typical throaty rasp. "Have you chanced to meet the favored couple yet this eve?" The question is solicitously cordial.
At the call of 'Demonder' Rennar's eyes light up a touch. Almost instantly does she turn away from her cousin to start searching him out. A warm smile spreads across her features as she does indeed spy him.
As Demonder turns toward his brother that smile broadens a touch, finally spotting out Liam from the crowd. He barely takes notice of the woman Liam had been mingling with, appraising her at then Liam in a brief moment of consideration. Taking the several steps in between them, a light chuckle escapes Demonder. "Brother..." Liam gets a shoulder bumping sort of greeting with Demonder's hand going around and roughly 'tapping' his other shoulder. "Its been a while, you are well, right?" he ponders teasingly, pulling away as though to look Liam over. "I have a brief conversation with a guard and already lose my wife...." He spies her out at a distance after a turn. "Where have you been, anyway? You'll need to meet Renni, of course. Not sure if the two of you have met?" he ponders that, already tugging Liam forward toward Rennar in that excited younger-brother sort of fashion.
Carinae hears a voice ring out to Demonder and she can't resist turning to look to at last 'see' him. It has been a very long time. That rasped voice of the Lord Captain Turail does return her attention, promptly. "I would be honoured to do both, Captain. Find myself in your company for the night and meet this favoured couple." Carinae has noted the cordial offering and meets Turail in the same manner. "If you would be so inclined to see to that introduction?" Now Turail's communications with Carinae started as business, but he spilled an aside, a personal aside into things. This only their second time together, has a bit of formality there.
Looking around once more, Borric shakes his head, slightly, and then starts to move towards the door. He looks around, and nods to all of the people he meet, before he leaves.
Rio nods and drinks more of the roesone wine, seemingly finding it to be of favor. "I traveled a great deal before I went to the tower for my training, but find that Caemlyn is always home to me. Perhaps your husband to be can take you somewhere special for your honeymoon? At least then you will have seen more than whitebridge."
Borric exits to the courtyard through the high doors.
"We have spoken of travelling to Tar Valon before the winter," Cherise smiles, nodding her head. "Then in the spring, we'd like to take off again..perhaps south or to the Borderlands. Depending on the political situation, of course.." She grimaces slightly at having to mention that, but..such is the way of things.
Liam chuckles at Demonder's excitement, "I'm well. I've been spending some time among the southern vineyards since...well, you remember what happened." His smile flickers for a moment, but is soon back at full strength, "No, I have yet to meet the incredible woman who has won you over. I do apologize for not attending your wedding, brother."
Rennar moves toward her husband now, having spotted him. "It took you long enough." There's a teasing note to her voice, her emerald eyes dancing faintly. "Let me guess... you're almost as popular here with the Roesone Guard as you are with our own?" There's a teasing accusatory look within her eyes. Curiously, she glances to Liam, someone she's never had the pleasure of meeting before.
The call of one brother to another which has drawn so many eyes to the vision of Demonder has not gone unnoticed by Lady Monya, and she glances his way. A face she hasn't seen since her return to the house, through o fault of her own, causes her to smile a little before her eyes scan the room once more. Liam has his blonde, Demonder has Rennar, Turail, it seems, has Carinae, and, of course, Cherise has Turail. Well, well, well... isn't this nice? The last of her glass of wine is taken in one mouthful and she glides quickly across the floor towards a passing servant to exchange the empty glass for a full one. Trollocs if she's not going to have a good time tonight! Even if she has to do it alone.
Rio sighs. She knows of the sitution in both mentioned directions. Neither is a tourist prospect at present. "Depending on the political situation, yes. Tar Valon can be a good destination. The rivers are pleasant and the city is ogier built and quiet the rival of Caemlyn in beauty."
"Well, they practically raised me," Demonder notes with a light quirk as he urges Liam folder (as though he needed it). "Renni, this man here is my older brother. I thought this my repair your opinion of my older siblings, we know Pitor makes a horrible impression." Demonder frowns at the name, though he goes on. "Liam, meet Rennar." Demonder offers Liam that light nudge with his elbow, as his eyes roam in that hint of appreciation for his wife. Switching from Liam's side, he stands between and then moves to slip his arm around Rennar's.
Truth be known the half shienaran Captain was somewhat worried that his offer of escort in letter earlier that day might have been considered improper by the Andoran Lady of Belmond, especially when no response, either demurring or accpeting was forthcoming before the party. He meant no imporpriety of course, and she did express a need to have a proper escort, but he is yet a stranger of sorts in her circle of acquaintances. He smiles, the stone casing of his features softening to give way to that pleasantry. "Of course, I would be delighted to make introductions, Lady Belmond." A green clad arm is offered to the lady ceremoniously.
"A pleasure to meet you, Liam." Rennar greets in a casual manner. Her eyes then trail back to her husband, before she settles herself by his side. "I trust you are enjoying yourselves thus far?"
Carinae settles her hand on Turail's arm, after finding it into position at his offer, as he begins them in the direction of his choice. Looking about while speaking with him. She comments about Demonder's presence. Wonders who the Lord is that is standing with Demonder that they seem rather familiar. Thanks him for his assist in the Belmond concerns of late. She even takes a moment to pause their movement to look directly at Turail and thank him for offering to escort her this night, "My apologizes, Captain Roesone, but I found the time lost to me before I was able to send answer to your request. I thought your attention taken to matters of import when I lost sight of you earlier."
Yaline has been hovering quietly but politely, with a small smile on her face, near the edges of the room.
Liam smiles pleasantly as he gazes at Rennar appreciatively. He bows slightly before speaking, "It is an honor to meet the woman that could tame my younger brother." He smiles wryly before continuing, "And I am enjoying myself. I've missed Caemlyn. The vineyards can be dreadfully quiet."
Cherise looks about for Lelldorin, but doesn't see him anywhere..she tosses back the rest of her wine and nods to Rio. "I know..it is difficult. If you would excuse me a moment? I should see how Lelldorin is faring without me.." With a nod to the Aes Sedai, she moves away slowly and disappears into the crowd.
Rio inclines her head politetly to Cherise as she begins to weave her way through the crowd. The Aes Sedai pauses at this point to look at some of the art on the walls of the Roesone hall, interested in the collection she finds there.
Nanton comes in from the courtyard.
Nanton looks around hesitantly.
One foot begins sneaking back towards the doorway as the youung man starts his exit.
Monya's eyes come back into focus in time to catch sigh of Yaline before she disaapears beyong the fringe of the crowd. She smiles softly and knows that, eventualy, her sister will make it around to talk to her. Now... if only Cherise and Lelldorin hadn't gone and disappeared. Hmmmmm.
"He's missed his younger brother," Demonder insists lightly as he takes escort of Rennar. "What finally brought you back?" Though he tries to spot a few more people in the crowd, Demonder's rather unobservant nature. Even as he asks, Demonder leans over to 'whisper' to Rennar loud enough for Liam to hear. "He almost has his younger brother's charm."
Nanton coughs nervously. "Ehm.. I was t-told .. uhmm.. a person outside mentioned Isandros, dios? needed replacing...
Nanton absently gestures at the lute upon his back.
The gesture looks more than a little odd as he continues to backpedal.
Yaline seems to shy to truly interact much, though. She's been in retirement, mostly. People may have heard that she's speant most days on her knees in her room, meditating, praying. And now she seems at a loss as to how to deal with people.
clutching at hthe neck of his shirt, Nanton waves uncertainly. "Perhpas.. I .. should og... hmm..umm..
Turail chuckles softly as he leads Carinae in search of Cherise and Lelldorin, who now, seem to have vanished. He does attempt to keep up with her questions however as they walk, remarking, "If I am not mistaken, the Lord nearest Demonder was addressed as Liam.. which likely would make him Demonder's older brother..and then pausing to look around for Cherise's bright red hair and not finding it, turns his attention back to Lady Belmond. "Please, do not feel compelled to apologise my lady. The offer was sudden, and I of course am not perhaps well enough known to your family to be considered approved as an escort. I only hoped your silence did not indicate I had given offense in the suggestion." He cocks a brow briefly, but then it sinks to a normal attitude on his face. "I do not seem to be able to spot Lady Cherise and Lord Froenar." He remarks, turning back to Carinae.
Nanton with a nother nod, Nanton, red-faced, backs through the door.
Monya watche the crowd, waiting for another glimpse of Yaline, and when she doesn't get it, she sends a servant over to the woman. The young girl curtsies and blushes to Yaline and stutters out that Lady Monya is on the other side fo the room, should Lady Yaline wish to speak with her.
Liam chuckles, shaking his head, "We both know you got your charm from me. And I have returned because I finally decided I had spent far too much time brooding at the vineyards and needed to return to the city. And its many taverns." He grins mischievously.
Nanton goes into the Music Room.
Nanton comes out of Music Room.
Yaline has to smile at that, a bit. She moves softly over to Lady Monya's side. "Light shine, my sister," she murmurs.
