| Summary: | NoFace comes to speak to Rennar, discussing the possibilities of a deal between the two of them to make certain she is freed, when the time is right. |
NoFace comes walking in...the way he moves suggests he is highly annoyed with something.
Quietly, Nirema is dusting one of the bookcases within the room, first taking a dry rag to the shelf, then going over it again with a rag that holds a waxy sort of polish.
NoFace is definately annoyed. You can tell by the way his voice cracks in the back of his throat. "You'd think that Queen of your wanted Jeffrin's scalp the way she has this place all sealed up..."
Nirema glances over at NoFace when she speaks, looking slightly startled. So engrossed was she in her work, keeping busy a small way for her to escape from her nightmare, she had not heard the door opening. "Pardon...?" She murmurs, almost meekly - though not entirely.
NoFace scratches his head through the mask. "I thought you nobles was sposed ta be able to hear better than that when peoples talk to um." He moves closer removing his trench coat and placing it on the floor. You hear a number of metal objects clank about inside of it as he does so.
Nirema lowers her eyes, "I was working..." She murmurs in a gentle voice, "I have chores that I must get done every day, so I push myself to get through them." She lowers both rags down to the rest of the cleaning supplies set before her - some for washing the windows and scrubbing the floors as well.
NoFace makes himself comfy on Jeffrin's bed. "Why on earth would ya wanna hurry through the only thing in da world ya gots ta do during the day? Yer Uncle isna gonna treat ya any better for it."
"Hurry....?" Nirema seems a bit surprised, looking up at at NoFace's words, "Usually the list is longer than what I could possibly /do/ in a day." At her small complaint, she immediately looks back down again, "I would rather complete the work than face whatever punishment he has in store for me if I do not."
NoFace says "Yeah but what happens if you do get da work done? Ya only get more right? Why not give him what he expects? Punishment canna be /that/ bad can it?"
"You surely do not know my uncle...." Nirema glances to the door a bit worriedly. "My work is finished when it is supposed to be, not a moment sooner." She comments quietly, reaching down for the rags again, adding a bit more polishing cream to the one.
NoFace leans back against the bed post crossing his legs in a very...well unmanly way without really thinking about it as he makes conversation with you. "Ya know, speakin of yer uncle, I heard him and my boss talkin da other day...Seems jeffrin's on his own now with all these guards hangin round." He watches you as you continue working
Nirema pauses as she halfway rises, eyeing NoFace carefully, "If that is so, might I ask why you are here...?" There is no small amount of curiosity within her eyes as she regards the figure before her, noting small things about it - for surely there are many strange differences.
NoFace says "Volunteers is allowed ta stay if they want ta risk it. So I stayed."
The young woman's curiosity seems to grow even more, added a touch of confusion on her part. "I see..." Rather than expressing her questions and thoughts, she turns back to her work. "I will try to be on my best behavior." As if she has any choice but to do anything else. She continues to dust off the shelf she was working on when NoFace entered the room, carefully arranging the various figures and stands upon it as she does her work, meticulously making certain everything is cleaned and polished.
NoFace says "You done a right nifty job on dis room darlin...Why don't cha take a break for a few and come sit with me over here on da bed."
Nirema seems a bit hesitant, looking between her shelf and NoFace. After a few brief moments she settles her things down again, "I suppose a small break would not hurt much..." She continues to regard NoFace in that ever so careful manner of hers, reserved but not calculating, just careful. She walks over to the bed and stands there, not yet sitting.
NoFace says "I also heard some other juicy tid bits when I was listenin to um talk...one of um in particular really got my brain ta racin...I heard um say that after Aislynn...YOU would be da next one in line for da throne...."
There is no hiding the surprise on her features, "Me...?" Nirema whispers, her voice hoarse. Her eyes go to the doors, then back to NoFace, the color having drained from her face. She shakes her head quietly, "I had not known that... though surely Aislynn has made other arrangements now, if that is true.... I am dead to the world." She looks away from the woman after saying that, attempting to hide any pain that might be showing on her face - being kept away from loved ones as she is.
NoFace snorts. "You didna know that you was next in line for da thrown? Well I hate ta be the one ta break that...horrible news to ya. Well anyways. Before my boss left, he told yer uncle he was a fool if he didna kill you and trash yer body somewhere." He leans back a bit further stretching a bit. "I couldna tell for sure, but I startin ta think Jeffrin mighta agreed with him."
"Aislynn has been gone for several years. I have not been privy to the small talks that we used to take before she left for her training." The young woman speaks with a familiarity of the Queen that might suggest they viewed themselves as almost sisters, rather than simply nobles, or friends. "She had not informed me that she meant for me to be next, should she not bear an heir." She strains to keep her voice together, even if this news has unsettled her. "And I have no doubt that my uncle would stoop to such a level. He has just gained the House, I do not think he would wish to see me on the Throne. I am, afterall, a rat." She murmurs the last as a quiet whisper, her eyes closing as she tries to maintain control of her emotions.
NoFace looks you over for a sec. "Well if it makes ya feel any better...Ya donna looks like a rat...Tell me darlin...now dat you been here for a long time...and now dat ya knows what yer missin...What would you be willin ta do ta get outta here?"
"Almost anything within my power, I expect..." Nirema murmurs quietly, opening her eyes, "But that is very little, I'm afraid. There is no one in the house loyal to me - they are all loyal to my uncle. The most I can do is clean for you, or do some odd chores... other than that, empty promises of what I could do once away, if I could ever get away."
NoFace smiles behind the visor rubbing his hands together. "There's gonna come a time...I donna know when but soon I thinks...when yer uncle decides he is through playin with his rat...and feeds it to da dogs. You wanna get fed to da dogs?"
A small shiver can be seen running visibly through Nirema, "Of course not..." Her voice comes, though just barely a whisper.
NoFace nods. "alright, now dat we got that established...When that day comes...I will be there ta make sure you donna become puppy chow...but nothin is free in dis world ya understand..."
Confusion turns to surprise once more. Nirema slowly turns about to stare at NoFace at first, then she seems to snap out of it, though her expression goes back to confusion, "But... why would you want to help me... and what price would I have to pay....?" Oh, she knows everything has its price - if anything, she's learned that much from staying under her uncle's 'wing'.
NOFACE'S VIEWING: The second you ask that question you get a very curious viewing. An image of a wedding dress...white as snow...very beautiful.
NoFace says "Because I feel like you could help me darlin...I been on da bottom rung all my life...and I wanna get off it."
Nirema's eyes widen brightly, and she takes a few steps away from NoFace. Curious actions from someonw who has never done so before in the presence of this particular person. The color seems to drain away from her face once more, and her eyes narrow, almost suspicously, at NoFace - though a modicum of curiosity remains, "I... I se... see..." She manages to stammer out. No doubt her 'spells' have become known about the building, and those closer to Jeffrin might even know what they are in truth.
NoFace hasna got a clue of course. "Gosh darlin. You look like you just seen a ghost."
"I... I..." Nirema starts, chewing on her lip. She glances to the door, then back to NoFace, looking torn about something. Finally, rather than admitting what she has seen, she murmurs quietly, "You are not a man, are you...?" She lowers her voice as she asks this question, murmuring quietly, "There are little things that give it away... but something else has as well." She seems reluctant to speak of this something else.
NoFace leans forward sittin up on the bed. "What makes ya ask that?...and what difference does it make if I a man or a woman? Huh?"
"I.. it just surprised me, is all." Nirema murmurs quietly, looking away once more. "Not something I'd expect, or was expecting, particularly after all that has happened." She pauses, trying to consider a way to explain things, "And I suppose it makes no difference, none at all."
NoFace stands up...highly annoyed that someone saw through her mask and her voice so easily. "You should knows better dan most that women can do everything men can do and more...!" She calms down after a moment. "Not many women forced to live the way I do though I guess...no doubts there." *sigh*
The young woman seems to wince, hearing the annoyance in NoFace's voice. "I am sorry... I did not mean to upset you... its just... it surprised me that you will be marrying soon." Though, NoFace never mentioned anything of the sort. "And I know... I have seen, even admired some woman for their prowess to do things men can do."
NoFace just stands there and looks at you for the longest moment, head cocking to the side. After a long uncomforatable silence she speaks..."Marriage? Who said anything bout a man out there actually wantin ta marry me?"
Just as color drained from Nirema's face before, it seems to come back just as easily, "I... I..." She begins, turning around to face NoFace, "I am just rambling, please... just forget I mentioned that...?" Her tone almost begs, pleads with NoFace, "It is not my place to interfere or say. Anything I see is for my uncle alone." Again, she looks away just as quickly as she turned to NofFace.
NoFace says "So I get you out of this then i got yer word you will do anything and everything in your power ta see that one request I ask of you is granted?"
The young woman's voice comes as a soft whispering, "I can only promise that I will try to do everything possible. The request will depend on whether or not I can actually fulfill what it is that you want."
NoFace says "dats what I said silly... I said you will do everything in yer power...if you do that...then so will I when the time comes..."
"Then the answer to your question, is yes." Nirema murmurs quietly, her expression not changing once as she speaks her words.
NoFace says "good. In dat case yous can go back to yer cleanin now...and I'll go back ta my supervisin"
"As you wish..." Nirema murmurs quietly. She does not complain, nor rebell. She simply accepts what she must do. Threat of that dog seems to keep her in line very well. She gets the items needed to clean off the shelf and starts to work as diligently as she had before. =
