| Summary: | Rennar meets with Aislynn to discuss the arguement that ensued between herself and the Captain-General the evening prior, which resulted in the Captain-General breaking the glass doors which lead to the gardens. Later, Rennar confronts Nicodemus about matters concerning young Emos, then a mysterious 'Lady Sadi' arrives upon the scene, announcing her recent return to Andor, and more specifically House Hune, causing Rennar to grow a touch nervous as her former kidnapper takes her agreed place within Rennar's life. |
The Queen's Suite: Royal Palace of Andor, Caemlyn
You find yourself in an immense room, with a white marble floor and the same white stone walls that make up the rest of the Palace. The ceiling is a high, vaulted arch and wide, fluted columns line the east and west sides of the room.
Red-and-white liveried servants busy themselves with dusting tables and sweeping the huge expanse of floor. A roaring blaze keeps the huge room warm to the furthest corners during the dead of winter. A tall, arched stone doorway, curtained in thick red velvet, leads further into the chambers. A pair of huge double-doors, gilded in gold, lead out of the room.
Aislynn
The door opens, and a servant announces Rennar's arrival. She gives the proper greetings and what not, then enters more fully into the room, "I suppose you might have heard half of the argument I had with Durnik last evening..." She starts, looking a little shame-faced about the balcony door, even if she wasn't the one that broke it.
Aislynn's lips quirk faintly, and she nods, "Yes...I heard of it early this morning. Surprisingly, though, I slept through it all...." She shakes her head somewhat, as the damage was not insubstantial. "Please....have a seat, Rennar..."
Slowly, the young noble nods her head to Aislynn, her movements graceful, "Demonder is out on the streets, waiting to meet with the men. He decided to go with our initial... plan."
Aislynn bites her lip at this, somewhat nervous, and nods. "I believe it was our wisest course. Now, just to see if they take the bait...."
"I am not happy about this. Demonder and I, even yourself, still stand to lose if they decide it's all a lie." Rennar's voice seems taut, the worry showing on her features, "If he's not back by dinner, I /am/ going out after him. We're supposed to meet for an evening meal."
Aislynn nods, sighing faintly in consternation. "The Light willing, he will return. But I trust your instincts, and if you fear for his safety after that time, do go. If you wish, I can send some men with you, or accompany you myself."
Rennar's eyes widen slightly in surprise as Aislynn says she'll go with her, "I...I..." She seems at a loss for words, then shakes her head, "Aislynn, you are /far/ too important to risk like that. You are the Queen." As much as she hates reminding her friend of that, keeping to informalities as much as possible, it needs to be stressed. "Besides, enough people have already gotten hurt. If something happens to Demonder, it's because of me."
Aislynn smiles faintly at this protective stance, and nods simply. "Of course...But please, at the very least, let me send some men with you." She tilts her head to one side, pondering your last statement. "And -no-: it is -not- your fault. If it had not been for your horrid Uncle, this news would not be known by these scoundrels."
There is a slight ruffling of skirts as Rennar finally takes a seat. She arranges them about her in a pleasant manner. She still looks palish, and peekid, as if she's not eatting right. "Perhaps, but I still cannot help but feel responsible." She murmurs quietly, then folds her hands in her lap, "It seems..." She attempts to change the topic, "that Durnik decided to ignore the order to aid me. That is mostly what our arguement was about, my right to know about my sister."
Aislynn's brows draw together into a dark frown. "He did not honor my words? What, exactly, did he say to you, Rennar?"
"More so, Aislynn, he did not trust my own word upon the matter. He refused, until he had a chance to speak with you and hear it from your own lips." Rennar murmurs quietly, "Then got upset when Lieutenant Cronus decided to talk out of turn."
Aislynn shakes her head, a small sigh escaping her pursed lips. "I wonder what under the Light could be wrong with Durnik. It is not like him to act thus. And Nicodemus, too. I am greatly disappointed in the both of them, and plan to make my thoughts on this matter -painfully- known to them." She shakes her head again, "Great bullcalves bullying about a small child! Imagine the audacity!" She sighs again, and continues on with the matter at hand. "But Durnik denying my words...even though they were not direct....That bothers me greatly. He has no reason to distrust you, none whatsoever!" she finishes, indignantly.
"He would not answer me when I asked what mality he held against me." Rennar murmurs quietly, "And he denied ever having bullied the child Emos, when confronted, saying that he entered teh Gaidin's room willingly."
Aislynn nods, a frown still spoiling the smoothness of her brow. "Aye. But Emos said that he was simply exploring...and came upon my Gaidin's room on happenstance. He was not prying, to the best of my knowledge. And this sudden....friendship, or alliance between Durnik and Nicodemus vexes me..."
"They did not like one another before?" There is a hint of question within Rennar's voice as she regards the Queen.
Aislynn swallows hard at this, and look a bit...flighty. "Well...let us just say that Durnik was not best pleased with the news of the impending arrival....and from whence it came."
Rennar lifts a brow gently as she regards Aislynn, "Then, it is all the better that he does not know the rest of it." She offers the Queen a look of compassion, "Though, what you say is.... interesting. I, too, would wonder why."
Aislynn nods, smiling faintly. "It is simply odd to hear Durnik mutter about how he would like to kill the rogue, and then to hear of him apparently working in collusion with him. Very odd...."
A light chuckle escapes Rennar as she regards Aislynn, odd on her seemingly pale features. "I can't say I know what to make of that. Though, I didn't apprecaite the accusation that I was hampering their investigation, when all I've done thus far is come to you and ask that I be kept informed, openly, of my sister's whereabouts and things relating to it."
Aislynn nods, looking indignant at the idea of Durnik denying you access to information about your family. "I can see that you have hampered the investigation not at all. Indeed, I believe you would be an asset...considering what you might be able to...see...in the search." She goes carefully here, knowing that you despise the gift that you have been given. "However, when I am finished with Durnik al'Emrys, he will step lightly for the next several moons."
There is an uncomfortable silence as she's reminded of her gift. "I would rather others not know about that. The less who do, the better. I do not want to become some sort of spectacle, and with these... men... who know about it..." Her voice trails, "I'll be lucky if the Tower does not find out."
Aislynn shakes her head quickly, "No, no. I did not mean to tell -anyone- about the gift. I was simply speculating. I would not betray your trust for nothing...and the Tower shall not find out through myself."
A light smile touches Rennar's lips. "I know. But that does not mean others would try to usurp my gift, as my Uncle had." A light sigh escapes her, eyes moving about the chamber of her friend. "Have you talked about Shalayne, regarding the portrait of the man Chade saw?"
Aislynn shakes her head, "No. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to. I will call her up early tomorrow, and see if we cannot get some more information. Will Chade be available to come here tomorrow, so the two of them may speak?"
Rennar seems to consider, furrowing her brow a bit, "I can certainly ask, should I see him. Hopefully the repairs to Tiras Lorn will be completed soon."
Aislynn nods, and blushes faintly at this, acknowledging her responsibility for at least -part- of that unfortunate fiasco. "How are the repairs coming along, Rennar?"
"Nearly completed, but when I visited, I was told they need at least another week." Rennar looks at her hands when she says this. "Hopefully we won't have to impose here too much longer."
Aislynn chuckles softly, "It is hardly an imposition, Rennar. I am glad to have you and yours here, and I would hope that you knew that. But, I will be glad to see Tiras Lorn repaired. It was such a beautiful old building, and deserved more than what it received. It was very unfortunate, really..."
"Aye, but what with House Roesone having burned down, the Palace is certainly seeing it's share of guests and visitors within its walls of late." Rennar murmurs quietly, folding her hands within her lap.
Smiling softly, Aislynn replies, "The Palace was built for such. And I would much rather have the Hunes and Roesones here than some of those other...puling and favour curying Nobles that absent themselves from Caemlyn at all times except those that they wish for something from me."
Announcement: Void announces "His Excellency Requests All Those Interested In Attending A Formal Recital By The Esteemed Minstrelle, Patrine ni Andivell, Prsent Themselves at Andivell Posthaste"
A light chuckle escapes Rennar's lips, "I can't imagine what it'd be like to be in your place." Sympathy shows in Rennar's eyes for Aislynn. "Nor..." She chides, "do I want to get that chance to imagine it." There is a teasing note to her voice, and it might be amusing at how she waggles a pale finger at the Queen.
Aislynn throws back her head and laughs merrily at this. "I make no promises, Rennar. I would love for nothing more in the world than to have a daughter...but if not..." she spreads her hands helplessly, though she seems to be teasing as well.
For a change, Rennar seems to manage something of a more brightened smile, rather than the half-smile she's usually managed since getting out of Tiras Lorn. "Light willing, you'll have a daughter, and one soon!" She exclaims, yet there's a sullen look behind her eyes which seems to know otherwise - still, she tries to humor the Queen.
Aislynn smiles placidly, apparently not noticing this sullen look. She sighs faintly, and shakes her head, "I just wish Greydon were about more often than he is."
A brow lifts at Aislynn's words, "He's not about...?" This seems to be a surprise to Rennar.
Aislynn shakes her head sadly, "He is at his Estates. He has been gone intermittently since I returned from the Tower."
This news certainly does seem to surprise Rennar, "Well... perhaps this will work to our benefit?" She offers quietly, "Particularly if Demonder spreads that rumor we've asked him to."
You walk through the white, gilded doors, and leave the Queen's Chambers.
Nobles' Sitting Room: Royal Palace of Andor, Caemlyn(#746RL$)
You find yourself in a antechamber with a high, vaulted ceiling inset with colorful stained glass. Lush carpets of red and white lie upon the marble stone floor. Couchs and chairs are arranged in conversational groupings within the room.
The blue-gray of twilight can be seen through the long wall of glass. The evening's first stars are beginning to twinkle. Down below, in the Queen's Gardens, you can see snowdrifts against the white stone walls, and icicles hanging from tree branches. To the east is a wing set with doors that house the nobles who reside in the palace. To the northeast are a pair of double doors that lead to the balcony and gardens. A hallway with guests' rooms branches to the west, and the heavily guarded Queen's chambers are south. A great staircase of white stone curves down to the Entry Hall below.
Nicodemus
"Yes, of course Aislynn..." Rennar chuckles faintly, her eyes dancing about at something spoken between she and the Queen. For once, since her return from being captured, she seems /almost/ happy.
Nicodemus stands in the hall, looking out of a window, contemplating one thing or another. He hears the Queen's door, and glances briefly there to see who comes from within Aislynn's room.
Carefully, Lady Rennar closes the door to the Queen's chamber. She starts to turn about, then pauses as she spies Nicodemus. The humor that was in her eyes before disappears entirely now. "Gaidin." She speaks.
Nicodemus bows his head quite formally. "Good eve to you Lady Rennar." He returns his attention to the window, and snowcovered builings beyond. "It appears that you are well."
"As well as I can be." Actually, Rennar's color is poor. She looks malnourished, and pale. It's almost as if she's hanging by a thread, "I'd be even better if I had the Captain-General's cooperation, and if peopel would stop harassing my staff." Oh, she's not subtle, not subtle at all, preferring to be blunt about such manners.
Nicodemus lets a small smile appear at the corner of his lips. "Why, whatever do you mean M'Lady." He looks to her for a moment, and then back out that same window.
A brow lifts delicately at Nicodemus's smile and denial, or assumed denial, "I'm referring to Emos, and how you and Durnik decided to just brow beat him into some sort of submission for whatever reasons. He is naught but a /child/, and I can quite assure you that Aislynn is far from happy with matters."
Nicodemus inclines his head. "Emos was by no means brow beaten. I caught him leaving my room, and simply wanted a few assurances that he did nothing within." He points to his door as if to illustrate. "In the end I simply wished it to be quite clear to the lad that life is not so easily shrugged off for one's disabilities." He turns to you then. "And in reguard to Aislynn Sedai, I simply wished to be able to call a commoner here... A boy... For her to see. One that might be seen by someone else in the future as well."
"So concerned were you that you decided to force him to swear an Oath to you? An Oath you had no right to make him swear?" Rennar's eyes seem to narrow, and she crosses her arms before her as she waits for his response.
Nicodemus inclines his head. His face is a mask of impassivity, his voice calm and flowing. "It was either that, or have him arrested, and tried under the law for breaking into a room in the Castle's Noble wing. I saw an opportunity, and I took it."
"Had it ever occured to you that he was merely curious? He's seven!" Rennar looks incredulous at Nicodemus, "Were you not curious and into things at that age that you should not have been? I know I was."
Nicodemus inclines his head once more. "Of course I was...Shall I show you the scars that my curiosity gained from me? Emos got off quite lightly if you ask me M'Lady. He is only a commoner, and one day he may have wandered into a pit of vipers. Perhaps now he will think twice."
A brow lifts at Nicodemus, "Do remember where you are, Gaidin. This is Andor. Commoner and noble are not as separated as some other... more base... cultures." Rennar seems to take offense that commoners are 'lesser' beings, "He /is/ a person, same as you and I, and should be treated as such, and he happens to be within /my/ employ. If I ever hear of such again, I'll recommend that Aislynn do something about your actions."
Nicodemus looks to you. "I did not suggest that I see him any differently as you yourself. I suggested that others might, and that is why I did what I did. "He did not tell me that he was in your employ. Merely mentioned in passing that he had some contact with you... Whether in your employ or no, I still would ask that you allow him to visit me. Or will you teach the lad that an oath means nothing?"
"I would know the exact oath you made him take." Rennar speaks, keeping her arms folded before her, "For if it as forced upon him, it was no oath at all."
Nicodemus says "I asked him if he would take the oath, and he agreed to it. If you wish to ask me to drop it, I will do so, but I told him that the oath was between he, Durnik, and myself."
An audible sniff is heard at the mentioning of Durniks name, "I would know what you made him swear that caused him to be so frightened. If you will not tell me yourself, then I'm certain the Queen will find out for me. You are just as bloody bad as Durnik keeping information away from me about my /sister/"
Nicodemus looks to you, that same mask of indifference upon his face. "You are under some misapprehension here M'Lady. I only serve the Queen's best interests. I could care a hairs width about your sister until such a time as it affects Aislynn Sedai. I know nothing more about your sister than commoner in whitebridge. However, I am begining to think more goes on with her disappearance as related to the rest of this land. Perhaps I may know more at a later date. Send good Emos round from time to time, and I will give you pertinant information as I find it.
"I will do no such thing." Rennar narrows her eyes at Nicodemus, "You serve the Queen, aye. The child serves me, and is not beholding to anything you've made him promise, whatever your motives. And, the Queen authorized my knowing what was going on behind the investigation. Durnik decided he didn't want to hear that and threw a tantrum. What I want to know is, will you do the same?" With that she motions to the glass balcony door in which Durnik broke.
Nicodemus looks to the door, and then back to you. "I'm better schooled than to do such things M'Lady. Are you? If you say Emos is off limits to me, then so be it. But I will tell you this. He knows quite a bit of what goes on in Caemlyn for only seven years of learning, and he could do well for himself in other functions. Perhaps he does already?" He waves away the thought with a hand. "I am sure he will enjoy being in your service forever?"
"He is only in my service, and my ward, until such a time as his mother is notified of his whereabouts. Should she not be interestedin taking back her son, whom believes she hates him, then he may remain within my servies, or go where he pleases. He's been given ample opportunity to leave, several times, should he so desire. He has chosen to stay, on his own."
Nicodemus smiles inside. "Then ask the boy if he chose to help Durnik and myself. If he did so out of fear, and comes to me admitting such, then I will apologize. To him... To you... To all concerned. But for now you prove my point for me."
"I don't see that any particular point as made." Rennar states rather flatly and frankly. "In fact, the last time I saw him about the palace was when he revealed to Aislynn what occured between you all. She told me herself, so don't you dare attempt to punish him for something he did not do."
Nicodemus says "Punish the boy? Please... Do not act as if he is being punished. If feels he was, then perhaps he's managed to learn something afterall. If he tells me he felt punished, and that he had no other recourse, then I will release him. And gladly make ammends for it. You say that no point was made, but you said you gave the boy choices, and he made one." He waves a hand, "Do what you will Lady Rennar. I don't care to alienate Aislynn Sedai, or any of her friends.""
The look on Rennar's face suggests she'll do just that. "I'm certain the Queen appreciates that fine gesture." She smirks as she regards Nicodemus. Unfortunately, or fortunately, most of her anger was spent on Durnik the night before.
Nicodemus returns his attention to the window, saying offhandedly, "You have spies within your houshold. Protect yourself Second-in-Line."
"That is news to me, considering aside from my family, only two of my original household remain, and one I trust with my life, and the other I trust with my family. The remaining two are new." Rennar seems to stress the exact size of her House Hold. "In truth, I am without a Household, and without a Guard, but those will be remedied once I move back to Tiras Lorn."
Nicodemus inclines his head. "I only pass along what is given to me. I con not tell you who to trust, but you say that you have two new additions to your home, and that you will have more. If I were wanting an in to your house, I'd most likely try to be hired."
"I am taking care. I would worry more about those employed here within the palace. Vipers run amongst the staff." There is a certain surity held within Rennar's voice as she regards Nicodemus. "And there will be very little new staff, a least for a time. I plan on getting loyal members back to Hune if possible."
Nicodemus looks to you. Finally he's managed to get someone to admit that all things were not well within the palace walls. "I do trust, for Aislynn's sake, that if you knew the vipers, you would name them." Ncak to the window then. "And of course I would do the same for you... I know a few trustworthy men if you are in need of such."
"If I knew of the names, I would be telling Aislynn myself. Unfortunately, all that I know is that this particular viper is left over from the... storming of my House." A shiver seems to run down Rennar's spin, "It was no accident that assassins happened to be there that day. They were searching me out."
Nicodemus says "I know that they were... I believe they are positioning themselves behind all in line for the Throne."
"I am well aware of what 'they' are doing. It's what's happening to Calisa that I'm more worried about." And again, the topic goes back to Rennar's sister. It's no wonder. She /was/ just in a slightly similar sitaution herself.
Sadi climbs up the spiraling staircase, from the lower levels of the Palace.
Rennar is standing not too far away from Nico, who is by a window.
Sadi enters the room escorted by 2 of the queen's guards. The speak up after a moment. "Lady Rennar, this woman says she has business with you."
Nicodemus appears on the verge of speaking, but as someone new entes the area, he falls silent. Content to listen for the moment.
Before you stands a lioness of a woman. She looks to be somewhere in her late 20's to early 30's and stands round about 5'10". She is strong you can tell just by looking at her. She has long jet black hair that comes down to her shoulders and deep blue eyes which are hard to forget. Her rosy red lips seem always to be drawn up into a playful smile. Her skin has an almost porcelin appearance...delicacy which is almost contradicted by the occassional scars one might find at various spots about her body. She does a good job of hiding them though. She is elegantly dressed in a long black velvet dress with blue embroidery. Silky black gloves adorn her hands and forarms. This is a woman who knows she has an attractive body and wants others to know it also.
A faint flicker of annoyance touches Rennar's features. Carefully, she turns around to see what business the guards seem to have with her. A brow lifts as she regarsd the woman they have with them, "Yes...?" There is no spark of recognition within her eyes.
Sadi looks Rennar right in the eyes. "You don't remember me...do you?"
"I'm sorry...?" Rennar's voice seems to speak, question holding within her voice, "I can't say that I do really." Confusion enters her eyes. She glances to the guards to see if they'll be any help.
The guards aren't of much help. They are guards after all and thus by nature are pretty much useless. "I'm your cousin." Sadi smiles after stating that quite bluntly.
The confusion still holds itself on Rennar's features, quite blantantly, "Pardon...?" She asks, Sadi's appearance by no means recognizable to her. "I'm pretty certain I know all of my cousins, I don't recall ever seeing you."
Nicodemus watches silently from where he stands at the window. Trying not to be obtrusive. Oh this is grand. Right after the conversation he just had with Rennar. A new cousin. His face shows nothing of what he thinks, it being as stoic as ever.
Sadi says "No I got no doubts that you don't recognize me. It was a long time ago. *she moves towards Rennar* Long long time ago."
Demonder climbs up the spiraling staircase, from the lower levels of the Palace.
Standing by one of the palace windows is Nicodemus. Near the stairs is a set of guards, who've just led Sadi into the room. Between the two, poised more toward Nicodemus than the woman and the guards is Rennar, who has a rather prominent confused expression on her features. Then, suddenly, so very suddenly, something seems to click, "Oh....!" Almost too much so. A blush rises to her cheeks, but just as suddenly as all the rest, her expression seems almost an unreadable mask, "Yes... do forgive me though, it has been sometime and I have been under some duress... might you refresh my memory as to /which/ cousin you are?"
Kragar walks into the sitting room from the balcony.
Sadi says "I'm Sadi. *she seems very pleased to be recognized* Don't you remember? Your father booted me out because I had taken a fancy to a man he didn't like?"
Sadi was a rebel
Kragar slips in withput any hesitation like he belongs in the Nobles Sitting Room, cause he's got it like that in his own mind. He inclines his head to Nicodemus and bows to the rest of the room in greeting but says nothing as to not inteerupt.
"Well, yes... my father was a rather pious man." Rennar does not notice Demonder, nor Kragar entering the room. Her gaze back to Nicodemus seems to be somewhat helpless. She had wanted to continue their conversation. She presses her lips together, and gently folds her hands before her.
You whisper "There might be a slight twinge of fear in Rennar's eyes as she regards Nico - a clue of something to be asked about later, perhaps." to Nicodemus.
Lord Demonder makes his way up the stairs in a slight limp, his eyes coming across the seen above. As he reaches the main sitting area, he begins making his way toward Nicodemus and Rennar. There is a slight include of his head to both. "Renni..." name ringing with endermeant. "Gaidin."
Nicodemus folds his arms watching this little scenne unfold before his very eyes. He spares a glance toward Demonder as he arrives, and then Kragar a few moments later. H moves then so he can better see Rennar's face as she talks with her cousin.
Sadi notices this so she speaks up quickly. "I didn't come back here to step on anybody's toes. All I want is a descent life back again...like the way I remember it. I want a nice warm bed...and some food, and someone to bring it for me. That not too much to ask?"
Demonder. A sight for sore eyes, and a wonderful distraction. Rennar's attention goes to him briefly as he calls to her. A light smile, though not very bright, forms as she spies him. She seems a little queasy, as if maybe having waited this long for food might not have been such a good idea - or perhaps it is something else residing in the pit of her stomach. No telling for certain really, "Demonder..." She speaks, her voice holding a fond note to it. Quietly, her attention goes back to Sadi, "Things we can certainly discuss at another time, Sadi? Or... perhaps over dinner?" Her eyes go to Demonder at that, since she had planned to take on a meal with her fiance.
Sadi says "Sure...where can I stay?"
Kragar it is funny how that little man can enter a room and just seemingly disappear. It is a rare gift and one he seems to excel at. Is that Kragar? nah thats a potted plant... how about that? nope a chair..wait there he is, no he moved. The ability to be one with the fern, a gift granted by the Creator.
Rennar shifts about a bit, finding a better standing position, "Well, the family is staying at the palace for now, until Tiras Lorn is finished being repaired. However, that is something I must discuss with th Quene first. She'll be quite interested to meet another member of the Hune clan." Her eyes do seem to go to Kragar and the others as she speaks, her lips pressing together tightly.
Too bad there are no fern in this room...
"I'm sure we could have a guest for dinner," Demonder basically interjects as he makes his way to his fiance's side one way or another. "Or two." With that, he notes the Gaidin that stands near them. Once said, his hand goes to brush on Rennar's arm in a sign of support, though he still remains a touch uncertain.
Nicodemus senses "Rennar's eyes seem to go to you when she mentions the Queen, and the hune's."
damn
Sadi says "That's ok...I donna want to ruin your evening. I'll just go get myself a room at the inn and wait. *she's good at that* You won't forget about me will you?"
Nicodemus thinks that perhaps they'll go, and then he's going to be left here, unable to see the rest of this. He would prefer that he be able to watch, but how to do so without imposing, or making it seem as if he's curious. Ah... Thank you Demonder. He takes note of something, and now knows he must accept. "Such a kind offer. How could I refuse such an invitation?"
"No... I insist really. The cooks here are excellent." Rennar glances to Demonder, then Nicodemus again, "Aye... am I right?" She asks them, looking for some back up on that particular matter. She smiles faintly as Nicodemus accepts Demonder's invitation, "The Gaidin of the Queen are always welcome at to dine with us." Rennar murmurs, though turns her attention back to Sadi, "Really, I'd love to catch up on al that you've been doing, and I'm certain my fiance, Demonder, and Nicodemus Gaidin would love to know more about you." That being said, she waits for Sadi's response.
Nicodemus waves Kragar over with a hand, to speak with him quietly.
Kragar meanders his way over and begins to listen with rapt attention.
"I've been enjoying the food during my stay," Demonder nods with agreement. And then, he examines over his future wife with a touch of consideration. Of course, they've yet really to be introduced, Demonder looking over Sadi with an edge of curiousity.
Nicodemus leans down to whisper something to Kragar.
Sadi has to mull that one over in her mind. She does not seem at all keen on the idea for some reason. After an akward moment she nods.
Kragar whispers back.
"Excellent." Rennar exclaims, her eyes brightening somewhat. There's no telling what she plans, not beyond her expression. She reaches out and takes Demonder's hand, squeezing it thoughtfully, "Love, this is Sadi, one of my cousins." She introduces, the infliction in her voice rather odd.
Nicodemus looks down at Kragar, and shakes his head. He mutters to Kragar, "... idea... little..."
Demonder bows his head forward to Sadi. "A pleasure to meet you, Lady Sadi. Please, join us. I'm sure there is much to be discussed on House Hune." Well, Demonder is about to marry into the family, he can be involved in those discussions. "And the Queen, of course. Gaidin Nicodemus makes for excellent conversation," Demonder notes the last with a tilt of his head.
Nicodemus inclines his head to Demonder, and then looks to Rennar. "May I have one brief word with you M'Lady?"
Rennar glances between Demonder and Sadi as introductions are made. She smiles lightly, then looks to Nicodemus, "Of course, Gaidin." With that, she gives Demonder's hand one final squeeze then steps over to where Nicodemus stands, a brow lifting quiet in question.
Sadi seems most dubious but she puts her attention on Demonder. She can see what Rennar sees in him...very attractive. Her eyes very quickly pick out the parts she likes and the parts she doesn't but they don't linger for long. Too good for her. "It is nice to meet you...I'm sorry if I won't be very good conversation on that score. I been away."
Watching Rennar make her way off with the Gaidin, Demonder turns his attention on Sadi. "Interesting times to return to Caemlyn, no doubt. You had heard of Lady Hune's problems before coming back?" he asks pondering.
Nicodemus waves a hand in Kragar's direction, indicating him for one reason or another. He mutters to Rennar, "... met... yet M'lady?... trust,... would like for... to... 'guard'... sorts... Do... think it... possible?"
You sense Nicodemus waves a hand in Kragar's direction, indicating him for one reason or another. "Have you met master Kragar yet M'lady? He, I trust, and would like for you to think about hiring as a 'guard' of sorts... Do you think it at all possible?"
Rennar's eyes move toward Kragar, carefully observing him as Nicodemus points him out to her, She mutters to Nicodemus, "... few... during... Roses, though... am not... if he knew... who... was..."
Nicodemus senses "Rennar's eyes move toward Kragar, carefully observing him as Nicodemus points him out to her, "We met briefly, a few times... and once during the Festival of Roses, though I am not certain if he knew who.. who he was speaking to at the time.""
Sadi says "that's why I came...I figured that with all the troubles...the family could put aside its troubles with me from the past for a helping hand."
Kragar stands there looking innocent.
Nicodemus inclines his head. He mutters to Rennar, "... for you during... very distraut... kidknapping... has... going... think... you... you do... it then... for..."
You sense Nicodemus inclines his head. "I had master Kragar looking for you during that time. Aislynn was very distraut by your kidknapping... And with what has been going on of late, I would think that she would be very angered if I were not to give you aid. If you do not require it then so be it, but if you do... He will work for you."
Rennar seems to regard Nicodemus in a quiet manner, a thought passing over her features which causes her to frown, She mutters to Nicodemus, "... I to take... into my... he... /me/ or... you? Based on... discussion, prior to... I'd... there's more motive behind this."
Nicodemus senses "Rennar seems to regard Nicodemus in a quiet manner, a thought passing over her features which causes her to frown, "Were I to take him into my service, would he be working for /me/ or for you? Based on our past discussion, prior to our... interruption... I'd have to think there's more motive behind this.""
Demonder looks over to where Rennar and Nico are speaking for a brief moment before turning his attentions back o Sadi. "Then why the hesitation to join us for dinner?" he asks simply.
Cronus climbs up the spiraling staircase, from the lower levels of the Palace.
Rudra arrives with Cronus.
Sadi can't help but smile as she answers. "Cause...I'm not used to bein in such company."
Nicodemus takes no time whatsoever to reply. He mutters to Rennar, "... admit... worked for... on a... He is... in fact,... if... him to... anything... and... pass... quiet."
You sense Nicodemus takes no time whatsoever to reply. "I will admit he's worked for me on a number of occassions. He is good. Very good in fact, but if I tell him to hold anything he finds to himself, and tell him not to pass it on... He will remain quiet."
Rennar stands near Nicodemus, speaking quietly with him. Not far off from this particular couple is Kragar, standing by patiently, and innocently, for whatever reason. Demonder is currently speaking with Sadi, who has two Queen's Guards standing by as escort.
Rennar's eyes shift between Nicodemus and Kragar, shifting her position slightly, She mutters to Nicodemus, "... He'd... as likely... you..." Odd words for the Lady to be saying, but there is an uncanny knowledge showing about her eyes, something which she knows to be true. "Though, if you can deny my words and vouch for him." She speaks more loudly, "I will consider it."
Nicodemus senses "Rennar's eyes shift between Nicodemus and Kragar, shifting her position slightly, "You may be able trust him, but you should not. He'd just as likely stab you in the back." Odd words for the Lady to be saying, but there is an uncanny knowledge showing about her eyes, something which she knows to be true. "Though, if you can deny my words and vouch for him." She speaks more loudly, "I will consider it.""
Kragar gets the oddest itchy feeling between his shoulderblades. Wonder why? hmmmm...
Sadi gets some idea of what they're talking about...She looks to Rennar, not able to help interjecting. "What ever happened to halice? You really need 2 peoples watching over you?"
Nicodemus doesn't think he can deny that she is right about nature, but in action he can. He wonders to himself how she would know. He mutters to Rennar, "... can... Thus far,... loyal... the... uncovers.... true... action."
You sense Nicodemus doesn't think he can deny that she is right about nature, but in action he can. He wonders to himself how she would know. "I can only tell you this. Thus far, master Kragar has been a loyal source of information, telling me of the truths he uncovers. He's similarly been true in action."
Rennar's eyes briefly move over to Sadi, regarding her a moment, "My..." She starts, then corrects herself, "Our 'uncle' fired him, and I have yet to see him since my release. I am beginning to think he would not want his job back with the House, and I've no idea how to contact him or where." With that said, she turns her attention back to Nicodemus, a sort of waiting within her eyes.
Rennar folds her arms before her, glancing back and forth between Kragar and Nicodemus, She mutters to Nicodemus, "So, you ask... to... to another?... You do... think he'd... bought..."
Nicodemus senses "Rennar folds her arms before her, glancing back and forth between Kragar and Nicodemus, "So, you ask me to go from one viper to another? Can he truly be trusted? You do not think he'd be bought out by another person?""
Kragar rocks back and forth on his heels, stops himself frm whistling quietly to himself. he thinks, nNope I'm not being sold or passed around like a common....well nevermind.
Sadi bites her lip and keeps quiet like a good girl now.
Cronus enters and glances about seemingly relieved as he moves for a calm spot out of the way yet in a spot where he may listen in on the conversations while he waits... yes with all the people here a run in with Durnik... well at least the beginning of it will give him time to ready a good defense. Rudra, as if commanded moves off to reside in a far corner of the room... and out of the way.
Nicodemus takes his eyes from Rennar to look at Kragar. He studies the man for a few moments, and then returns to the quiet conversation. He mutters to Rennar, "... you... than... he... the... of... that... vipers."
You sense Nicodemus takes his eyes from Rennar to look at Kragar. He studies the man for a few moments, and then returns to the quiet conversation. "The viper you see is far less deadly than the one you can't find... And he is the type of snake that eats other vipers."
Rennar seems to nod a bit in thought about that, then something else occurs to her, 'One last question.' She comments, then lowers her voice again, eyes intensely searching Nicodemus for his reactions, She mutters to Nicodemus, "... life..."
Nicodemus senses "Rennar seems to nod a bit in thought about that, then something else occurs to her, 'One last question.' She comments, then lowers her voice again, eyes intensely searching Nicodemus for his reactions, "Is he someone whom you would trust Aislynn's own life with?""
Nicodemus actually laughs. It is reserved, and quiet, but something rarely seen in the man. He mutters to Rennar, "I... that... question to ask.... to do... quite... in such..." Perhaps he has an overblown sense of worth, or perhaps it's simply confidence in his own abilities.
You sense Nicodemus actually laughs. It is reserved, and quiet, but something rarely seen in the man. "I think perhaps that might be the wrong question to ask. I can barely trust the Prince to do so... We Gaidin are quite apprehensive in such areas." Perhaps he has an overblown sense of worth, or perhaps it's simply confidence in his own abilities.
Kragar looks at Sadi and shrugs as if to say, whats a poor working man to do.
Rennar carefully lowers her hands, allowing them to clasp before her, She mutters to Nicodemus, "... concern, yes?... yourself... to keep me... the... in... a... whom I've... had... who's tbackground... to... at best. If you... to... Aes... hte... would... willing to... after..."
Nicodemus senses "Rennar carefully lowers her hands, allowing them to clasp before her, "Well, you do understand my concern, yes? You yourself want to keep me safe as the next in line to the Lion Throne, yet, you are asking me to trust a person whom I've never really had any full conversation before, and one who's tbackground I believe to be rather dubious, at best. If you can't trust him to look after teh Queen, not an Aes Sedai but hte Queen, then why would you be so willing to trust him to look after the heir-apparent?""
Nicodemus looks Rennar dead in the eye. "Quite simply because I don't trust anyone else to do it."
Rennar inclines her head quietly, taking a step back to further regard Kragar, eyes intensely regarding him. She narrows her eyes briefly, then finally nods, "Alright... though only for a trial basis. Should everything work out, he may remain if he wishes, or move on to other things. If not, he'll be asked to find something else."
Demonder looks to Rennar for a moment, his eyes carefully considering her before he settles back in the room a step. "There are many matters that still need to be cleared." At the sound of the agreement on Rennar's part, Demonder turns more specifically toward her, his eyebrow raising in question.
Rennar turns her attention back to Nicodemus, She mutters to Nicodemus, "But,... that he's nothing... than... I... doing this... thoughts... have... I... probably quite... bit of... on about me... House."
Nicodemus senses "Rennar turns her attention back to Nicodemus, "But, do know that /I/ know that he's nothing more than a mere spy, and that I am doing this to appease whatever thoughts might have entered your mind. I know that there's probably quite a bit of quibble going on about me and my House.""
Nicodemus inclines his head. "Thank you M'Lady." He truly means it by the sound of his voice.
Rennar keeps her voice low, looking over her shoulder at Demonder, She mutters to Nicodemus, "But,... it becomes... would like... he speak... ask him... start... for... He is... and..." Again, there is quite a bit of hidden knowledge behind her eyes.
Nicodemus senses "Rennar keeps her voice low, looking over her shoulder at Demonder, "But, before it becomes official, I would like that he speak with Demonder. I did ask him to start recruiting men for my guard again. He is quite worried about me, and not without good reason." Again, there is quite a bit of hidden knowledge behind her eyes."
Nicodemus clasps his hands behind his back. He mutters to Rennar, "Of course Lady Hune. I will... to... Demonder as... time... review."
You sense Nicodemus clasps his hands behind his back. "Of course Lady Hune. I will send master Kragar to Lord Demonder as soon as time permits a review."
Rennar nods her head quietly, "I thank you." She does offer Nicodemus a small smile, then moves back to where Demonder and Sadi stand. She calls over her shoulder, "Perhaps Master Kragar would like to join us for supper?"
Nicodemus looks to Kragar to see if such an invitation would be accepted.
Kragar raises an eyebrow, gives Nicodemus an unreadable look, "Certainly, Lady. Thank you."
Sadi yawns..."He can have my seat."
Demonder arches another eyebrow, before looking between Nicodemus and Kragar. "Very well. I'm not sure if I speak for everyone, but I am hungry," he notes rather quickly.
"As am I." Rennar quickly follows, a brow lifting at Sadi's response, "Are you certain...?"
Sadi nods. "I'm not very hungry anyway..."
Rennar nods her head slowly, murmuring quietly, "Perhaps another time." There's a brief pause before she adds, "Cousin."
Sadi nods. "I go find myself a room in the inn...Don't forget about me...Gettin in here through the guards is a trick ya know." She is severly annoyed with the 2 she's got shadowing her right now as it is.
Rennar gives a small nod of her head, "At the Inn, the Rose and Lion?" She inquires, tilting her head to the side a bit, "And I will not forget."
Sadi nods and turns round to her 2 new guard friends. "ok boys...lead me out." As if she could not find her own way. They do and she follows.
Sadi goes home.
Kragar looks from Nicodemus to Rennar and then back. Thinks to himself, that bastard has pulled one over on me again. Thats what I get for becoming a respectable citizen. He then shrugs and steels himself for whatever comes next.
Nicodemus makes his way toward Kragar, but speaks to Rennar and Demonder. "Perhaps it would be best if I talk to Master Kragar, and perhaps the two of you might have a nice peacful dinner with one another."
Demonder watches in the background, for the most part, before finally stepping up to Rennar. He's hungry, and right now, he just wants food.
Kragar looks expectantly at his rat bas... I mean friend.
Rennar is the rat, yep. Her uncle told her so repeatedly. A brow lifts quietly, though she nods, "Still, if he is interested, he should speak to Demonder as well." She glances to him, her expression suggesting this is something to be talked about at dinner, "Ready love?"
Nicodemus offers a bow to Lady, and Lord. "I thank you for your time M'Lady... And I thank you for being patient, allowing me to take so much of the good Lady's time."
Kragar bows to the nobility, turns to Nicodemus, steals his money and gives him a mean look then departs. Laughing at himself for what he gets into.
Kragar walks leaves the sitting room and walks out onto the balcony.
