| Summary: | Sadi swears an Oath to Lady Rennar that despite her former profession as a thief, abductor or what have you, she will not harm anyone within House Hune, or attempt to do anything of the like. Meanwhile, Jhafir arrives upon the scene as well. |
Nobles' Sitting Room: Royal Palace of Andor, Caemlyn
You find yourself in a antechamber with a high, vaulted ceiling inset with colorful stained glass. Lush carpets of red and white lie upon the marble stone floor. Couchs and chairs are arranged in conversational groupings within the room.
The strong afternoon sun floods in through the glass wall, reflecting a brilliant spectrum about the room. Down below, in the Queen's Gardens, you can see snowdrifts against the white stone walls, and icicles hanging from tree branches. To the east is a wing set with doors that house the nobles who reside in the palace. To the northeast are a pair of double doors that lead to the balcony and gardens. A hallway with guests' rooms branches to the west, and the heavily guarded Queen's chambers are south. A great staircase of white stone curves down to the Entry Hall below.
Sadi
Sadi just looks back at this woman...it almost seems like she doesn't understand what you are asking of her. "I donna understand...why is somethin like that all you need? Where I come from people swear oaths and they break um...just as regular as breathin. You have that much faith in a persons integrity?"
A brow lifts at Sadi, "This Oath is one of the strongest given." Rennar carefully watches her reactins as Rennar speaks, "Should anyone make such and Oath, and break it, you can be given the severest of penalties imagineable. So, therefore, yes, I would put faith in your integrity if you swore the Oath."
The differences in the world that these 2 women come from must surely be making itself apparent now. The idea of punishment she seems to understand though, at least enough to actually see a reason to do as you ask. After a moment's contemplation she speaks up. "I swear by the Light and hope of my salvation and rebirth, that I will do nothing to bring harm to you, your family, or your friends while I live."
Sadi bites her lip, hopin that was good enough...
A warm smile comes to Rennar's lips as she regards Sadi, "Thank you.. for the oath and what you have done." She seems to consider, "I have another wishing to learn more about being a Lady, though she is not one herself, cousin." Her eyes look up to regard the group gathered. When they've noticed the Lady's attention on them they start and scatter. She shakes her head, then turns her attention back to Sadi. "Perhaps you and she can learn together if you wish, but I'll leave that up to you. Her name is Sasha. She's been recently hired as a servant to the House." She appears to consider, "Perhaps... perhaps Leylia can help you, she is also a cousin. I will have to speak with her when next I see her. Or, i can help some, but.." Her eyes go to the window again, ".. before I do have to find my sister."
Sadi follows your gaze out the window. "That would be good of you...I donna know nothin bout being a lady. I can barely talk straight as you mighta noticed...and bein round lots of upidy people...specially Nic...causes me to be nervouse." Hence her reason for backing out. "I feel like dat guy can see through me." She stops as you mention your sister. "You lost yer sister?"
"He's a Gaidin." Rennar states simply, "They are trained to do that sort of thing. It's mostly for intimidate, or at least that's what Tristan has told me." She glances back at Sadi in a casual manner, "Tristan is another cousin of 'ours' who is a Gaidin. And, we used to have a Keeper of the Chronicles in the family as well, but Naya retired the position." A sigh escapes Rennar at the question, "Aye, she was taken, much like I. Only, we think the Children are involved, for whatever reason."
Sadi frowns. "What is it bout your family dat causes people to come after you so much?" She ponders that...The Children. "You got people lookin for her?"
"The Queen's Guard are looking for her." Rennar states, though her voice is bland, as if she doesn't approve of the Guard's involvement, for whatever reason. "Right now, I don't have anyone who /can/ look for her. I don't exactly have a House guard any longer."
Sadi smiles. "Guards are over rated. You saw how much good they did yer Uncle...I get the feeling yer gonna see how much good they do your queen one of these days soon. All they can do is react. That's how da law works. What you gotta find is someone who operates above their rules."
"I am not exactly involved in the underworld, and from what I remember your 'friends' were not too particularly fond of me." Rennar points out, quiet enough that no others can hear. "There are very few that I trust, and with very good reason."
Sadi smiles her secret smile. Not very many people see it and those that do...usually have no clue exactly how to take it or the words that inevitably follow. "Nope...they don't like you one bit." There is a pause. "I like you though. I liked you from the moment I saw how strong you was. If ou ask me to help, I will."
Rennar looks away from Sadi at her smile, and her words, "I don't consider myself very strong at all. I did what I needed to do to survive, that's all." Some would consider that strong, others, like Rennar, perhaps cowardly. "You are probably already in enough trouble over me."
Sadi shakes her head. "They got as far away from Jeffrin as they could when the queen surrounded that place...Coulda cared less what happened to um. But, if ya donna need my help then fine. I gonna enjoy being a lazy lounge lizard." She smiles.
Rennar glances back to Sadi, carefully watching her with her emerald eyes. "I don't think I'll turn away any offers at this point. You've given me your Oath, so I believe I can trust you with my sister's life." At least, somewhat - a fleeting thought showing over her features. "The last place she was seen was in Ferret Run."
Sadi says "And dats all anybody knows about her."
Rennar gives a small nod of her head, "As far as I can gather, aye, that's all. However, if the Queen's Guard knows more, they aren't telling me, even after the Queen ordered their cooperation.'
Nicodemus comes from within the room behind the inconspicuous door.
Nicodemus enters the hall from a door near the Queen's own. Fastening his ashandarei over a shoulder, the Gaidin prepares to enter check on his ward. He inclines his head to The Lady Rennar, and her cousin.
Nicodemus walks through a pair of gilded doors, into the Queen's Chambers.
Sadi nods. "Well you give me a little tim to get myself situated round here...and I'll see what I can do about...coaxing a little information out of a guard boy or 2."
"Good luck. I had the Queen's authority backing me and I couldn't even get it." Rennar murmurs, her voice holding no malice, just lost hope.
Sadi smirks "Well da way da Queen's been actin lately...it shouldna come as any suprise that peoples are starting not to pay her any mind. I think I gots another way of gettin some info...They are men after all, and I find that with men, actions speak so much louder then words." She winks.
Rennar nods her head slightly, turning her attention back to the growing dark forming outside of the window, "What ever works for you, so long as no one gets hurt." Rennar murmurs quietly.
Sadi says "Can I give you a little piece of advice?"
"What would that be...?" Rennar inquires, eyes carefully scanning the darkness outside. She doesn't turn to regard Sadi.
Sadi leans closer and speaks quietly. "Don't be so afraid to hurt people...cause whoever it is yer dealin with...certainly has no qualms bout hurtin you."
Jhafir jingles out of his room.
Rennar stands by one of the windows, peering out. Sadi stands near by. She glances over to the woman, eyes widening at whatever was just spoken. Starts to say something when the jingling sounds of bells interrupts her. She looks over at the sound, a brow raised slightly.
Jhafir ducks out of his small, unceremonious door, and clicks the latch shut silently. Delicate fingers smooth his coat a bit and he turns. Long, musical strides carry him down the hallway. Despite the lighthearted tone of his Arafellin movements, there's a grim fatalism to his countenance that is grafted if somewhat ill-fitting, considering the heavy laughlines that crease his cheeks and eyes.
Rennar's features are currently pale and gaunt. She looks malnourished and vaguely ill. Her emerald gaze continues to follow Jhafir, having never seen him before within the palace. After a moment or two more of study, she turns her attention vaguely back on Sadi. She mutters to Sadi, "... my... prefer other... injury,... death.... I'm too... but..."
Sadi senses "Rennar's features are currently pale and gaunt. She looks malnourished and vaguely ill. Her emerald gaze continues to follow Jhafir, having never seen him before within the palace. After a moment or two more of study, she turns her attention vaguely back on Sadi. "That is not my way. It may be others, but... I'd prefer other methods than pain, injury, or even death. Perhaps I'm too soft hearted, but that's who I am.""
Sadi turns around to have a look at Jhafir. She responds to something Rennar says though..."Well if you donna act on others, yer just invitin um to act on you."
"This isn't Cairhien." Rennar simply responds, turning her curiosity back on the Arafellin stranger, "Nor does House Hune play by Cairhienin standards." She seems to sniff, "I'd rather be blunt and up front about things, than playing the silly games by uncle, and others insist on playing."
Jhafir steps from the hallway and into the sitting room. The concerto of bells dulls a bit without the acustics of a long hallway amplifying them. A servant curtsys low and extends to him the customary tray of tea and winter fruit. He reaches down, accepting the tiny cup of porcelain with a wan smile of thanks, but refraining from the fruits. He motions with a finger at the balcony, his words incredibly softspoken and laced with a Northlander accent as thick as Tearin stew.
Sadi looks back to Rennar now. "Yup, yer uncle was playin games alright...But now there's somebody else out there...and they not playin games. I guess you prolly know that better then I do...so I'll shut up now."
"Indeed, I am quite aware of that." Rennar's voice carries, "How can I not be when they continue to threaten my family."
Yes...I would like to get this started. Next weekend would be great for me...as I will be on all day that Saturday. Please let me know. Thanks.
Sadi excuses herself. "I have some things to do. I'll be hangin round here somewhere though if you need me."
Sadi heads out
"Yes, of course." Rennar turns her attention back to the woman she was speaking with, then watches as she moves off. Briefly, her eyes move to the window again, and the darkness residing outside. She shivers slightly, and pulls a shawl draped about her shoulders a bit more tightly. She leans her head against the window, the coolness pressing against her forehead.
