| Summary: | Out enjoying an evening to herself once again, Lady Rennar journeys to the Rose and Lion Inn. Once there, she meets a rather strange man, and comes to discover that he is a long missing cousin of hers; Lord Borric Tomlin Hune - a distant cousin on her great uncle's side of the family. |
Common Room: Rose and Lion Inn, Caemlyn
The common room of The Rose and Lion is a merry place. The patrons here appear happy, and sit at stout wooden tables, or at the long bar, in groups of twos or threes. There is much drinking, talking and laughing.
The patrons sip cups of goat's milk and breakfast on hot cereal, fresh fruits and sausage. White curtains billow back from the open windows, admitting the warm breezes of the summer. A stout wooden door leads back out to the busy Caemlyn Road, a smaller wooden door leads to the stables, and a well-worn staircase leads up to the private bedchambers and common sleeping areas.
Borric
Sorenis arrives with Rennar.
Borric sits at the bar, drinking his Whiskey, looking slightly worried.
Entering the common room, followed by what looks to be a House Hune guard, is Lady Rennar Hune herself. She flashes the guard behind her, Sorenis, a disapproving look, but does not otherwise say anything to him. In fact, he stays near the entrance of the room, giving the Lady her space. It takes her a small bit of time to get situated, then she moves toward the fireside table, one of her usual haunts.
Borric nods to the new arrivals, "How are you this morrning?" he asks.
Pausing a moment, Rennar turns her attention to the person who spoke. She manages a light smile for Borric after shooting another scowl in Sorenis's direction, "I am well this morning, thank you." Rennar manages a bit of the small talk, "And yourself...?" She inquires politely. She does return to going to her table, intent on taking a seat before someone else takes her spot.
Borric shrugs, but returns the smile, "Well, there was someone I should have met, but that person never showed up. But otherwise I'm fine."
A brow quirks faintly in interest as Rennar finally does manage to take her seat, and just in the nick of time, as another couple were headed in the very same direction. She tilts her head to the side as she regards the young man, eyes carefully taking in his demeanor and build. "I can see how that could be bothersome." She answers, her words softly spoken, yet loud enough to be heard over the noisy common room.
Borric shrugs, "Well, otherwise this lovely city is enough for the eye, I guess."
Rennar chuckles lightly, a faint jovial expression coming to her features, "I am certein the Queen would be rather pleased to hear people say that." She comments gently, then glances to Juli, the server, and waves her down. Before the Lady even gets a chance to order, the young woman dashes into the kitchen, already knowing what the young andoran noble woman wants.
Borric mumbles half aloud, "I wonder why I even left this country?"
Borric smiles to the Lady, "I heard things have been, exciting around here lately, people disappearing, and such."
"So, why did you?" Rennar responds, tilting her head to the side. Just at that moment Juli arrives, bringing a cup of hot tea. She sets it down before the Lady, smiling warming, before dashing off to help other customers about the Inn. Sorenis remains by his place at the doorway, watching people come and go, and searching them for any sign of threat to the Lady.
Borric sips hiws Whiskey, "Well, I ran away,. Wanted to see other places around the world."
"Ah... and did you see other places?" Rennar questions, tilting her head to the side a bit. She does cast a glance in Sorenis's direction. As she catches sight of him, she frowns rather visibly.
Borric nods, "Places like Cairhien and Tear, and of course, Tar Valon."
Borric continues, "And also places like Ebou Dar, Illian and Fal Dara, north in Shienar. They are all places that is nive to visit, iI guess, but to live in?" he shakes his head.
"I have only been out of the city once, and that was to visit Tar Valon. I do not fancy visiting there again, due to some rather compounded bad experiences." Rennar responds, turning her attention back to Borric and away from the hired guard.
Boric smiles, "Well, People of power in Tar Valon seems to be too much concentrated on politics."
"It's no wonder, what with the concentration of foreign nobles there of late." Rennar murmurs, taking her tea cup within her hands. There's an almost wry expression touching her face as she shakes her head, "That is a city I would rather not visit again, and won't if I can help it. I'll stay right here in Caemlyn."
Borric nods, "Well, what had happened if I've followed that ideas?" He nods, "But it always seems that people must go away from home to really appriciate their homeplace. Have you observed the same?"
"I appreciated my home place before going away. I merely went to escort the Queen back from the Tower. I ended up leaving Tar Valon before she even came home." Rennar replies, that wry expression growing to one of distaste, "Not only were the locals rude, they were downright impolite all around."
Borric smiles, "You know the Queen?" He then thinks out loud, "Well, why did I really run away,? I enjoyed hunting in the forrests with Karlis, and so on."
"The Queen and I are close friends." Rennar responds quietly, watching Borric's reaction in a careful manner.
Borric shrugs, "Well, lucky for ...." He then looks right towards Rennar, "You are?"
Rennar gives a small nod of her head, "Indeed, we are." She comments lightly, taking a casual sip of her tea. Her appearance does bear the resemblance to noblity, what with her fine clothing, and well practiced mannerisms.
Borric thinks for a moment, "Well, that may make you nobility, I think."
Rennar lifts a brow at Borric, "I am Rennar Elliya Hune, High Seat of the House. Also, and heir-apparent to the Lion Throne." Hefty claims those are, and as she makes them, Sorenis steps closer, a little uneasy at her words. He glances about the room carefully to make certain none move threateningly in her direction.
Borric glances around, "Oh," he says. "Do you perhaps then know of a certain Borric Tomlin Hune?"
"I know of him, but I don't know him personally." Rennar manages, after a long moment of thought. "I believe he's on my great uncle's side of the family. There are quite a few Hune's to remember them all." She smiles apologetically.
Borric nods thoughtfully, "Do you perhaps know his current whereabouts?" he asks.
Rennar quirks a brow at Borric, "I do not. As I said, I know know of him... I do not know him personally." She chuckles wryly, then adds, "I hardly can keep track of my own immediate family, much less a person I've probably only met once or twice at family functions."
Borric chuckles, "Would it surprise you if I said he was in this very room?"
Carefully, Rennar looks about the room, then looks directly at Borric when she ends her sweep. "Perhaps, though from the direction that this conversation is going, I would suspect you are he."
Borric nods, "Not bad thinking." He then smiles, "Because it is true."
