| Summary: | Rennar and Demonder call a meeting with Lord Turial of House Roesone. There, within the Roesone Manor, they discuss various issues surrounding the city. In this conversation, they also inform Lord Turail that the Lord Captain Inarin is Ta'veren, thusly making one of the major Houses which support the Children aware of what might have formed some of their alliances. |
Vintner's Study: Roesone: Caemlyn
The open door leads you to a large room, which contains so many warm rugs and tapestries that it feels intimate despite its size. This is the informal area for House Roesone's wine-tasting, or just for relaxing after dinner with music and guests. To your left, a writing desk with three chairs. On the far end is a fireplace, with some comfortable chairs strategically placed for talking business or politics. To your right is a large rack which contains various musical instruments, next to an open door where you see the apparent living quarters of a musician, judging by the instruments lying on and around the bed within.
The sounds of the Manor staff bustling about in the Great Hall filter into here, as the evening wears on. The fireplace is aflame, and a bowl of harvested grapes lie on the writing desk, ready for inspection. The large oaken door leading to the Great Hall is just behind you.
Demonder
Rennar arrives with Demonder.
Turail comes into the wine room.
It was only that morning that Lord Demonder and Lady Rennar had requested a meeting with Lord Turail. The newly married couple make their way into the room at the decided upon time, Demonder leading his wife with the hints of a concerned expression on his face. Even before he looks over the room, he looks to Rennar with a moment of reassurance, though that reassurance likely more for himself then for her.
Turail has seen to it that the fire has been lit for several hours so that the room is comfortable, and there has been an extra settee brought in also, to make it comfortable to discuss things in here. He's seated himself at the writing desk, but rises when his cousin Demonder, and the Lady Rennar are shown in.
Rennar walks in upon Demonder's arm, squeezing it gently in a manner which indicates she tries to comfort up. Seeing Turail, she dips her head respectfully, "Lord Turail." She murmurs in a gentle voice, "It seems there's a bit we need to discuss."
Demonder's bow to Turail is not what it used to be, the young Lord proving to have some rank with the woman at his arm. There's an almost playful quirk to his lips as he manages to amuse himeslf with this little detail. "Lord Turail. Cousin. Certain information needs to be shared," he denotes, as he leads Rennar to their sits.
Turail bows slightly to both, "Peace Favor, my Cousin, and his lovely wife, Lady Rennar." And eyebrow rises at her words. "Certainly I would be interested to hear this information." Turail has never been one to concern himself much for rank except when its required to do so. He doesn't notice the depth, or lack of it in Demonder's bow. "Please, can I offer you something to drink perhaps?" Turail retakes his seat at the writing desk.
"Perhaps later." Rennar speaks in quietd tones, though remains standing for the moment. She observes Turail in a studious manner, as if assessing the young man before her and his worth. "We can enjoy refreshment afterward if you are still in good humor when we finish speaking." With that, she does finally take a seat, glancing for Demonder to do the same if he desires.
Demonder shakes away the offer for the drink and takes a seat. "This matter concerns the Lord Captain, Inarin." His eyes briefly look to Rennar, before he turns his attentions on Turail. It's unlike Demonder to be so straight to business and actually to avoid pleasantries. And wine! "You have had dealings with him, yes?"
Turail nods his head, aquiescing to this proposal. "As you wish then." His eyes move to Demonder. His cousin has been changed by marriage, he thinks. He thinks he approves of the changes, at least.. what he can see of them in a passing meeting. He wonders briefly what his own impending marriage will carve into him, if anything. He smiles, "I have had words with him yes, and dealt with him insomuch as Cathryn was unable to receive his request directly. I'm afraid I did not exactly approve of Cathryn's decision, but I had no other option to offer her."
More direct and down to the point than Demonder, as she has always been, Rennar simply states what it is she came to tell Turail, "He is Ta'veren." She waits a moment for Turail to take in that particular set of wards and what it might mean for himself and House Roesone. Carefully, she folds her hands in her lap, though not once does she take her eyes from his features.
Demonder's lips open as though he was going to follow up Rennar's words with his own comments, but then the lips shut tight. Looking to Rennar, with no real surprise, he nods quietly to himself before turning his attentions back to his cousin. Demonder straigthens in his chair, and simply watches.
Turail's forefinger drums on the desk, one eyebrow arching again. "Ta'veren?" He sits a little foreward looking at Rennar and noticing the fixed way she looks at him. Something Reslaric said to him recently concerning Inarin makes little 'notice me' patterns in the back of his head. "A dangerous man then.." He sounds as if he thinks aloud. "How does one resist such a man, or can his gravity be escaped?" He glances up at Demonder and Rennar.
"The only way that I know to escape such a thing is to stay away from him. Otherwise, the weave bends around him and changes threads unexpectedly." Rennar continues to speak directly to Turail, reaching out a hand to carefully squeeze Demonder's arm in a reassuring manner. "He should be watched."
Demonder's fingers briefly touch upon Rannar's leg just out of view from Turail since he sits behind the desk. "The fact is, what-ever decisions you make can be affected by the man. His very location within House Roesone can cause the pattern to spin people to him. Considering his position..." his voice trails. "Not to mention danger can follow him, as it did Mistress Maggae."
"And when such a man comes to you? What then?" Turail asks quietly. He after all did not approach the man, but was sought out.
"Play your cards carefully, and when you come to a decision or agreement on something, make absoluitely certain it is one within your own best interests, and not his." Rennar offers quietly, signing a small bit as she answers.
"Of course, showing him fear will lead him to suspecion. So will caution." Demonder taks a sighing breath as he looks to Rennar briefly before going on. "We tell you this in confidence, of course. There can be no hint to him that you know, at least not through us. And even then."
"Of course, cousin." Turail's voice rasps in soft thoughtfulness. "The question is, does the man himself know he is Ta'veren?" His eyes, which had been out of focus in thought sharpen. "I am also curious, Lady Rennar, how it is you came by this information.. and did you have it when last we spoke?" There's no accusation there, just curiousity. His cheek muscle twitches as Reslaric's words replay in his mind. Reslaric? The man has always had an uncanny skill in reading people.. could it be possible..?
There is a short pause before Rennar answers Turail's questions, "He knows. Only he knows. I told him last evening." With a glance to Demonder, Rennar continues, "And I know this just as I know that you will be the next Lord of Roesone." There's that odd certain sureity about her as she speaks those words, her eyes moving from her husband to land more directly upon Turail. "You were the third person told; Demonder being the second and the Lord Captain the first."
