The Tower is all that remains of the old Norman church,
which is believed to have dated to the 1200s.

Illogan's Parish registers:

"Illogan's parish registers commence in 1539, a year after Thomas Cromwell's mandate for their keeping.
They are in bad condition with gaps until 1751 though  a copy was made about 100 years ago and is more legible and these have now been preserved by the Parochial Church Council on microfilm and kept in the County Records Office in Truro."
-- source: booklet, "The Parish Church of Saint Illogan," originally compiled by Rev. W.E.W. Wycliffe-Jones, and published by the church.

Notes:
Illogan's parish registers were not filmed by the Latter Day Saints (LDS) and are not available for viewing outside of the Cornwall Record Office in Truro.
However, transcripts of the registers (1539-1845, baptisms, marriages and burials) were undertaken and indexed by the late Mr. Richard Bawden of Redruth.  Mr. Bawden's transcripts have been filmed by the Latter Day Saints (LDS) and are available through local LDS Family History Centers. Order film # 1849636.
In addition to Illogan's  baptism, marriage and burial registers, Mr. Bawden included extractions of baptisms from Tuckingmill's registers from 1845 to 1846, and all entries 1846 to the end of 1875 for persons born up to 1845. He also included baptisms from numerous nonconformist (Methodist) registers in the Illogan vicinity.
This film has the bonus of also containing the following of Mr. Bawden's transcripts of other parishes:

In addition to the registers listed below, the CRO holds other Methodist records, including quarterly minutes, local preachers' minutes, circuit plans and trust schedules, and for many chapels there are trust minutes and accounts, leasers' minutes, Sunday School records, etc. Complete lists and indexes are available at Cornwall Record Office in Truro.

In 1907, the United Methodists were formed by the joining of the Bible Christians, United Methodist Free Churches and Methodist New Connexion.
In 1932, the Wesleyans, United Methodists and Primitive Methodists formed the Methodist Church, which brought together all Methodists in Cornwall except the Wesleyan Reform Union. The dates upon which local circuits amalgamated varied from place to place.

Transcripts of Methodist Registers:
Richard Bawden's Illogan Transcripts (mentioned above) contain extractions of baptism records from the following Nonconformist Register of people born up to 1845. Note, these baptisms often took place later in life and include the date of the person's birth. Only those born up to 1845 are included in the transcripts.
