| Summary: | The Kandori Guard rush through the gardens announcing the Princess to be in danger, but a plot seemed under-way to distract the guards while other matters were approached. |
ToT: Theowyn - Saturday, January 01, 2000, 11:29 PM
---------------------------------------------------
Theowyn escorts the Princess at his arm toward the edge of the balcony. She would not have the benefit of the sight for those about, but the spring air would more clearly press against her skin near the edge. "Always interesting, with a Cairhienin about. You could imagine I barely survived my trip to the nation with matters of the sort occuring each day."
From below, Cronus glances up to the Balcony and gives a polite respectful nod of his head to his prince, and one to the rest as well, before looking back to Zarya.
From below, Zarya is still straight, but returns her gaze back to Cronus...
From below, Cronus smiles and returns the hand squeeze as his arm is still draped about Zarya, even pulling her a little closer, for a hug and a light kiss. He mutters to Zarya, "... I get... conversation... you... relaxed.... biggest city in Andor.... are... going..."
From below, Zarya blushes from shame slightly... "I am sorry, but I am still a bit unused to ... /them/." You know that she is refering to poeple in general. You feel her back slacken a bit but gives you a quick peck on the lips and a brief flash of a smile that makes her eyes glow briefly with happiness that only comes after a show of affection. Seems like she is not used to anyone or thing caring for her and she seems to enjoy it ... immensly.
"Oh, Dear," Elyse responds, patting the railing a moment to get a feel for her position before resting her free hand there lightly. She tilts her head toward the voice of the Prince, "I daresay I am impressed, my Prince." She smiles, "I can't imagine how I could have handled such an environment," she adds modestly. Her three guards take up a perimeter around the couple on the balcony. Sohai, the officer, keeps a close eye on the surroundings of the Princess, alert for any danger.
Theowyn remains attentive to the area around out of the many years of training within the Tower, and the Queen's Guard further the level of protection around the Royals. He offers Cronus a brief nod as the Prince's brilliant blue eyes pass across the Gardens. "You realize now why I was eager to make a polite departure. Unfortunately, being polite in Cairhien requires to visit all of the major Houses, and then some of the minor ones that support the Queen. And a few enemies." Theowyn sighs. "A year."
Elyse offers a comforting squeeze of Theowyn's hand at the sigh, and smiles, "But you are here now, my Prince." Sohai's attention pivots suddenly to include a passing pigeon in his vision before he looks away, absorbing all movement in his surroundings, and therefore all movement in the Princess' surroundings at the same time.
From below, Cronus nods, He mutters to Zarya, "... do, for... staying... please..." he gives her another squeeze of reassurance and love.
From below, Zarya smiles at Cronus, but every once in a while she gives a brief glance up at the balcony...
From below, Suddenly, Zarya turns to Cronus and gives him a full-blown kiss on the lips.....
From below, Zarya grins evilly as she pulls away and says breathelessly.. "So, first you want one thing... now another.... So how was it? Am I not good?" she gets a little playful pout on her lips, her hand starting to reach for your ribs so she can tickle you...
(erpose)
"Happily here, Princess," Theowyn states quietly, even with the troubles that have recent troubles in Andor. He returns the squeeze of the hand, his eyes ignoring the nice spring view, and finding the beautiful Princess at his side. "As I began to say last time, Queen Aislynn has approved our courting. It is now to the King's favor that we seek," he is rather to the point, and perhaps makes a point to the Lt. Commander that follows them if he's close enough to listen.
From below, Cronus chuckles at Zarya and arcs a brow, "Nothing you can do, can be bad, my love," at the approach of the hands, his breathes becomw slow and steady as he locks a smile to his face. "It won't work, my love. You should know that by now."
From below, Zarya pouts and slowly pulls her hand back. She hangs her head and starts to sniffle.
To the comment of the King's permission to court the Princess, Sohai, the commander of the soldiers who brought Elyse, pointedly looks anywhere but at the Royal couple. Elyse smile brightly at the reminder, "I must confess. I had expected Her Majesty to want to meet with me first before granting consent. But I will not contest it, of course. As to my father, the matter will be . . . delicate, methinks."
From below, Suddenly, Zarya looks up to cronus with a wicked smile and a twinkle in her eyes... "So, where are you ticklish? Tell me, please?" She puts a hand on Cronus' knee, batting her eyelashes and making a small pout appear on her lips..
"Delicate indeed?" Theowyn asks quietly, his eyes not losing sight of Elyse. "Queen Aislynn trusts my heart and my intentions, though she is curious to meet with you."
From below, Cronus arcs a brow, bringing his free hand up with one finger out and taps her on the nose. "That is something you will have to learn.... at another point in time, my love."
From below, Zarya starts to pout even more, but just settles giving Cronus' knee a squeeze and winks at cronus.... "Deal." she says quietly.
Elyse inclines her head deferrentially, remaining thoughtfully quiet a moment, pondering the situation. How can Theowyn go off to Kandor to meet her father for approval to court her when his own nation is on the brink of war?
From below, Zarya sighs with pleasure, enjoying the somewhat solitude with Cronus and being almost at home in the lush greenery.
From below, Cronus grins a little, at the squeeze and gives her another hug. He looks about the garden. "Well, I have a friend inside that might want to meet you... if you are up for it?"
From below, Zarya sighs.. "I guess. I have enjoyed this scenery for long enough. I must go see another one of /them/ now, shan't I?" she smiles and stands, attempting to help him up for once...
"I will send my intentions by letter, Princess," Theowyn tells her quietly, uncertain of what else to do. He draws her in closer, dangerously close for their public setting. "It will be some time before I can meet with him. But I feel I owe the King of Kandor atleast my stated intentions."
Elyse nods, 'That would be wise, my Prince,' she says softly. She doesn't resist as he draws her nearer, in fact her mood lifts a bit, and She mutters to Theowyn, "... you,... I... appeal to my father on..."
You sense Elyse nods, 'That would be wise, my Prince,' she says softly. She doesn't resist as he draws her nearer, in fact her mood lifts a bit, and "I love you, Theowyn. I will appeal to my father on your behalf."
From below, Cronus chuckles as she brings him to his feat, yes he does seem to enjoy the recent change in Zarya. So that she is trying to be his equal for once, and not follow like a servant. "you guess... you guess?" he chuckles, and spares a nod of respect up to his Prince as he departs with Zarya.
From below, Cronus stands and leaves the Bench near the trellis.
Theowyn hand moves away from from the Princess' arm but does slip about her waist, as he brings her closer to him. When their bodies nearly touch, he shifts their direction enough so that it would appear that they are looking out of the balcony. He mutters to Elyse, "... I love... disrespect... in my haist... it difficult... back... I... my heart... am..."
Elyse senses "Theowyn hand moves away from from the Princess' arm but does slip about her waist, as he brings her closer to him. When their bodies nearly touch, he shifts their direction enough so that it would appear that they are looking out of the balcony. "And I love you, Princess. I wish no disrespect to your father in my haist in our affections, but I find it difficult to hold back what I feel from within my heart when I am near.""
From below, Zarya stands and leaves the Bench near the trellis.
From below, Cronus doesn't seem to be surprised by the scene he spies when he glances up, and moves out.
From below, Cronus walks along the white stone path, towards the Palace Courtyard.
From below, Zarya leaves with Cronus.
From below, Rudra leaves with Cronus.
From below, Rezna walks into the Queen's Gardens from the west.
From below, Rezna moves to the fountain and takes a seat on the edge of it. He sighs as he removes the glove covering his right hand and...examines the bite marks that his friend left there. Hmm...some friend. he dips the hand into the water to clean it off a bit as it seems to have festered
Resting her hands on the balcony railing before her, Elyse smiles, seemingly into the distance with such a blank stare across the rooftops of the city, "The feeling is mutual, I assure you, my Prince." She seems to inch a little more against him, slowly, casually. Suddenly, Sohai springs into action, whipping around to face the the gardens as two men in Kandori guardsmen garb spring across the gardens toward the balcony. As soon as the Princess is in their line of sight in the growing dim evening, they shout, "Ho there! Danger is afoot! Guard the Princess! Guard the Princess!" Their cries are not in unison so to the unkeen ear it might take a moment to grasp what is being said. Sohai, however, turns to the Princess, the other pair of guardsmen moving to encase her other side, backs to her and fronts to any possible crossbow bolt. Elyse tenses visibly, gripping the railing in front of her.
From below, Rezna seems more than a little suprised as guards zip out of knowhere and start yelling. His eyes begin roaming about searching for this horrible danger. while his right hand absently rubs his left hand. Odd how did he miss those 2? he must be getting rusty
Theowyn's free arm moves to Elyse's opposite shoulder, as he takes her away from the balcony. It would be the clearest line of sight, his fingers moving around her hand as he whispers, "this way" before hoping she releases her hold on the balcony. The other arm draws her near, and his back begins to face the gardens he moves between her and the railing.
Bowing her head and doing her best to keep up with the instructions of those with both sight and charge of her safety, Elyse clings to the closest body, bent slightly out of some primal instinct for self-perservation. The tall Kandori guardsmen form a ring around her, while the other two sound the alarm mount the steps toward the bounty with martial grace. About halfway up, they slow, however and give each other a curious look, then back at those around the Princess. They now appear confused, still approaching, but not with the hurry in their step that was there before. All of the guardsmen spy the Ambassador at one point or another, but he is apparently not the threat they perceived was here. They begin eyeing the darker portions of their environment, seeking some assassin hidden and waiting to strike.
Sohai purses his lips, seeing the reaction of the two, yet he does not move from his position as a human shield to the Princess. He does call to them in a deep rumbling voice, as they continue their ascent up the stairs, "How now, soldiers? Yoshu? Why have you left your post??"
From below, Rezna sighs as he looks about. He doesn't miss much...and as far as he is concerned there's nobody else here...with the possible exception of a few loidering Andoran guards. He looks to the balcany...frowning ever so slightly as he watches Theo's back. If there were an assassin here, likely Theo would be the target not the blind princess. And there he stands...his back to whatever danger is apparently perceived. Ah well. He guesses this is Theowyn's lucky day
The Queen's Guard flow into action as well, as even the Gardens would have some members about to insure the safety of those that walk within the night (after all, one Queen was already killed within the very Gardens). Theowyn looks around over the Kandoran guards as he tries to gain where the threat comes forth. He looks to one of the men that had accompanied him. "Clear the way into the Palace," he tells the Queen's Guards, and that they do, heading to the balcony door and insuring that they would be secure within.
"We.." One of the approaching Kandori guardsmen starts, still looking mildly surprised, but relieved at the wave by Sohai to leave off for now. He'll get the details shortly, *after* the Princess is secure . . . and as an afterthought, for Sohai at least, after the Prince is secure as well. He beckons the pair who had been guarding Elyse's Apartments to join them in escorting the Royals back inside the Palace, much safer there, presumably.
Continuing to clutch at Theowyn, Elyse wordlessly follows his lead, though stumbling a bit in both her hurry and fear, and of course, blindness. Such courage to entrust people with her safety and care, with such a disadvantage, some might think.
From below, Rezna sits back down on the edge of the fountain. He will stay and...face the peril
The Queen's Guard already hold the balcony doors open, each with a hand on their weapon though within the area seems to be safe as they give no indication otherwise. Theowyn does lead Elyse with the flow of the others, though once they are some steps away from the edge of the balcony he slows their hasty departure. With an arm already about her waist, he takes a hold with each stumble, briefly considering taking her within his arms once more though realizing he can't enter her chambers twice in nearly as many days in such a manner. They move inside.
Balcony: Royal Palace of Andor, Caemlyn
You are standing upon a long, curving balcony of white stone that looks down over the golden dome of the Grand Hall and onto the Queen's Gardens. Marble benches sit along the eastern wall and between the huge columns, providing views of the lush gardens and redstone fountain below.
The balcony provides a wonderful view of the setting sun. The western sky is bathed in purples, blues and fiery reds and oranges. The air carries a fresh scent of rain on the way. Half the sky is covered in large, fluffy clouds, the other half blue as can be. A pair of arching double-doors made of glass lead back to the east, into the palace. A winding staircase leads down to the gardens.

Sohai walks into the sitting room from the balcony.
Sohai has arrived.
Elyse walks into the sitting room from the balcony.
Elyse has arrived.
Once safely inside, and perceiving no immediate threat, Sohai leaves the Princess to her original two man escort, appreciating the Prince's Andoran escort as well at this very moment, and of course, the Andor First Prince of the Sword as well. Sohai does not leave farm, however, ushering the two guardsmen who sounded the alarm away a few feet to discuss the matter in hushed, but firm tones. Elyse does not let go of her grasp on Theowyn until he, himself, indicates either by action or word that it is safe to do so, even though she can tell by the feel of the floor that she is inside.
Theowyn remains uncertaintly for the reason of the alarm, and continues to hold Elyse near though he pulls away enough so that he may clearly see the Kandoran guards. "We are safe," he tells her quietly, as the Queen's Guard secure the two main entrances within the room. "I did not see the matter of concern," he tells her, his breathing steady though deeper now as he begins to calm from the initial rush away from the edge of the balcony. He looks to the guards.
Quiet though it is, a rather heated discussion appears between the three Kandori guardsmen discussing what the situation was to sound the alarm. "There was . . . nothing?" Elyse asks, straightening, though remaining close to Theowyn as well. She tilts her head toward the sound of those hushed voices, and asks firmly, "Lt. Commander?" her own breath slowly starting come down from exhilaration.
Clicking his heels together, Sohai turns and bows to the Princess, crossing the few feet to her, "It would seem Your Highness, there was a misunderstanding." The two who cried wolf shift slightly, but don't look ashamed, they honestly felt she was in danger, afterall.
"A misunderstanding?" Is Theowyn's reaction, a question that almost requires no answers. He allows them both to better face Sohai and his men, looking between each with an expression that doesn't hint at his thoughts. The two Queen's Guard, likely accompanied by more now after the yells for Elyse sounded the alarm, do not lose their attentive gaze of the room, though they do visibly relax. He holds back the request to explain, knowing Elyse will likely make such a request. Theowyn is visibly (and figuritvely) bites his tongue.
In response to Theowyn's comment, Elyse merely arches her brows and asks, "Care to elaborate, Lt. Commander?" Her tone is even, neither chastizing nor praising.
Sohail barely manages a glance to the Prince, not letting his own personal feelings surface as he looks back to Elyse, "Yes, Your Highness." his voice calm, "The men were summoned by a servant wearing palace livery," pointedly refraining from looking at Theowyn at that, "Who begged them to follow her at the suggestion that you were under attack." He lets it end there, looking back at the pair standing close by and dismissing them back to their post at Elyse's apartment doors with just a wave of the hand. Sohai, and the original two, however, remain. Sohail still before the Royal pair in case they have further questions.
Apparently one of the Queen's Guard were paying attention, because he moves forward and closer to Theowyn as Sohail makes the announcement. For his part, Theowyn checks the men that had rushed for the balcony as though judging them. Finally he settles for a nod. "The servant is by now gone, of course," Theowyn states the obvious, though turns to the Queen's Guard near. "Get a description from the Kandoran Guard." He seems doubtful that will come to anything, but he makes the obvious request. "That makes little sense, where were the men being distracted from?"
Gladly giving what vague a description that they can the Kandori Guardsmen do so at their post, however, having been dismissed back to it now. "They were on duty, Your Highness," Sohai answers Theowyn dispassionately, "At Her Highness' Royal Apartments." Suddenly he narrows his eyes speculatively at that. And looks towards the doors, if they are in line of sight from here.
"Odd," Elyse responds thoughtfully, not seeming angered by the disruption in the least, "No one would have been in there for any interest. Lady Alianthe is gone on an errand, and the servants have either retired or are performing their duties in the servants quarters tonight." She tilts her head towards Theowyn, a question on her features.
"That that is where someone wished to distract them from," Theowyn concludes the near obvious as he looks between Elyse and Sohai. "Shall we make a cautious entrance?" It's less the question, as more Queen's Guards come to the top of the stairs. The Kandoran had managed to draw out enough attention, especially among an army of paranoid Guardsman especially when it comes to foreign nobility.
"Cautious?" Elyse seems surprised, "Whatever for?" not quite clear of the conclusion Sohai and probably many of the other men in the room have come to. Though Elyse waits for Theowyn to escort her to her apartments, Sohai makes a bow and starts there himself. Giving the arriving Andorans a brief but scrutinizing gaze as he heads there.
"You clearly were not in any danger, Princess," Theowyn begins to explain as he escorts her toward the chambers of the apartment. "Yet someone went out of their way to distract the guards that were standing at the doors of the apartment. For what purpose? Perhaps they wanted to give you a scare," he concludes with a slight shrug. "Or to gain entrance to the apartment." The logical two conclusions.
Alianthe has arrived.
Elyse nods, pondering the theory put forth by Theowyn as she is led towards her apartment doors. At her approach, the guardsmen at her doors bow, and open the doors to the sitting room. Opening to reveal an incredible mess. Utter chaos seems to be a good term for the look of the Kamikatsu apartment sitting room. Furniture is turned over and moved, smaller items are haphazardly strewn about, some vases are broken on the floor. Elyse's harp is on its side, banners and tapestries are torn down and the door to Elyse' bedchamber is wide as well. Sohai goes rigid with attention, and the two at the door follow suit.
Theowyn is in attention of the room as the doors open. He doesn't move inside, looking rather suspecious at the room. A slight frown comes to his features, and the arm of Elyse's that holds receives a comforting squeeze. If he is to be her escort, he is to be her eyes as well. With a deep breath, he tells her. "The room has been invaded, it seems that everything has been turned over," he whispers quietly.
Alianthe strolls up the stairs, halting in her steps as she catches sight of the mess in the Kamikatsu apartments. Her normally sunny expression is replaced by one of shock and dismay as she gasps loudly, one hand pressed daintily to her lips. "Dear Light!" Covering the intervening space at a dainty scramble, she flutters to a halt just before the door. "Whoever could have done this?"
There is a small gasp, and Elyse bites her lip, leaning a little closer to Theowyn, then suddenly turning her head at the sound of Alianthe's arrival, her voice is grim and not above a whisper, "This is a grievious event, indeed." Sohai signals the two at the door and all three step in, cautiously, in case the perpetrater might still be about. The two guardsmen behind Elyse, tense with alertness as well, but don't move away from Her Highness' personal safety. Sohai and one of the other pair enter Elyse's bedchamber also cautiously. Silence from within that dark area for a lengthy moment.
There are a few Queen's Guard behind those from Kandor, and as Theowyn moves within the room he steps almost ahead of Elyse, proving to be a difficult escort. There is no need for them to step within as well, better to have the Guard check the room, but curiousity over-takes him. And there likely little reason for whomever did this to stick around.
Alianthe heads into the room after the rest, innate curiosity urging her on, timidity cancelled by the presence of the several big burly men around.
Elyse can't help but go where Theowyn takes her, but there is definitely hesitation in her step, and uncertainty in her manner. The two in Elyse's bedchamber return, Sohai responding, "Your Highness, I'm afraid your bedchamber is in a worse state. But the person who did this does not seem to have remained. Guards move in to check the balcony and Alianthe's room to verify, even while the Lt. Commander says this.

The men return from Aliathe's chambers grimly admitting that the Lady-In-Waiting's chambers are in a similar state as well. The rooms secured, Sohai gestures to Elyse's accompanying guardsmen to fetch servants to begin cleanup, while the sentries resume their post at the door with strict instructions as to who should enter and who should not, "The treasury, Your Highness, was breeched, but very little taken out of it. It would seem they were, indeed in a hurry," says Sohai to the Princess, "What could they be looking for?" She asks, she rubs a temple, tiredly.
Theowyn looks through the room with vague alertness now, not one trained to investigate the crime scene. He simply accepts the words, and nods in greeting to Alianthe. "If the invasion was not for the purpose of financial gain, then something else?" There's a hint of question in there. He casts a further glance around the room, leading Elyse carefully further within, avoiding anything that might have been thrown on the floor.

Spanning the huge room is a well-polished white marble floor, covered in places where furniture rests, each fringed carpet with a brilliant and intricate design. The tall multi-paned glass doors set inside the exterior wall open to the balcony. In the same exterior wall, but towards the other end of the room, a wide marble fireplace shares its warm countenance with an ensemble of cushioned chairs and couches facing it. An ornate stones table rests in between two wing-backed cushioned chairs. A large harp stands before a cushioned chair near the ensemble, ready for the harpist's fingers. While an ornate cittern case rests on the table behind it. A scrivenor table and chair sits at the opposite corner, with implements for writing, including a locked strong-box which presumably contains the a seal and capsules meant for messages sent by pigeons. In addition, there are two tall bookcases filled with a plethora of titled spines for the avid reader. The walls are anything but bare. Where they do not hold masterpieces of tapestries, they hold masterpieces of paintings. Above the mantle of the fireplace, resides a six foot long trumpet of archaic design, and from the center of the trumpet hangs a banner with the Kamikatsu House Coat of Arms. A set of doors leads back out into the corridor, another set leads to the Princess' bedchamber, and a third to the Lady-In-Waiting's bedchamber.

Elyse has arrived.
Sohai has arrived.
A tall, broad-shouldered man--even for a Kandori--with steel grey eyes that seem to absorb everything in his surroundings. His hard-lined, stoic countenance infers the warrior's heart and soul trapped within his strong form. Sleek bond-hair drapes a little paste his shoulders, bound at the nape of his neck by a leather cord. He wears the clours and garb of the Royal Honor Guard of Kandor, and those who'd know the knots at his shoulder would recognize him as a commanding officer. Militant in most of his demeanor, he is not without proper earrings: a pair of silver hoops dangling from each ear.
Alianthe has arrived.
Alianthe stands off to one side, making various little noises of shock, dismay, or flutteriness as seems appropriate, apparently rendered speechless (for once), but thinking extremely hard behind her mask.
Elyse shakes her head, sighing exasperatedly, "But I don't have any idea what thay could be." She blinks then, "Lt. Commander, my jewels?" Obviously she means those not already on her person. He shakes his head, "As far as I can tell, Your Highness, they are all still in your bedchamber, though somewhat strewn about, as if they were searching through your strongbox," nodding to Theowyn and drawing similar conclusions.
"Documents then?" Theowyn asks the next logical step in what might be gained. "If it is not financial gain that they were after, then the search for knowledge would likely be next on the probable list." Of course, Theowyn would have no idea what sort of documents would be held here. "I see little reason for an Andoran noble House to make such a move, nor our visitting Houses. We can conclude these troubles are related to matters in Kandor?" It's mostly question to Sohai.
Not for the first time, Alianthe wishes that she could cast away her disguise and have done with it. It does tend to make things rather inconvenient at times. "Politics?" she suggests timidly from her position.
Turning in the direction of where the scrivenor's desk is, though all the drawers and cabinets are broken into and parchment pieces in a disarray around the desk, Elyse beckons, "Ali?" Unable to see what, if anything is missing, but releasing Theowyn's grasp, or trying to, and taking a few cautious steps in that direction--the direction of the desk.
Sohai nods grimly to the Prince, "I would suspect so, Your Highness." Then nods to Alianthe, "Perhaps a combination of both, My Lady."
Theowyn begins to lead Elyse in the general direction of her steps, until finding the matter of her interests. The desk. He guides her across the floor, making a note to be careful at a few places where papers and glass lays scattered. "One in the same, truly."
Alianthe steps forward quickly to aid Elyse to the desk, kicking away any clutter that half-blocks the way to it.
With Alianthe and Theowyn assisting her, Elyse gets to the desk and begins to feel around, asking, "The letters we have received, Alianthe. Are they here somewhere?" Concern furrowing her brow as her hands begin working blindly through the debris, then suddenly she cries out, withdrawing her hand to reveal blood where a sharp edge of a vase cut her.
Theowyn takes Elyse's hand looking over the injury as best he could. It's always a struggle, holding one so freshly injured. He assumes someone else will call for a wisdom. "It's not so bad," he assures even before he has a good look at it.
Elyse nods, biting her lip a moment at the sting an then saying, "Perhaps further investigation should wait until the servants have an opportunity to clean this up? I don't want anyone else hurt."
"Very well, Princess." Theowyn agrees, releases the hand once its suitably checked. He looks between the Princess and the Lady in Waiting briefly. "Princess, I'm sorry for your inconvenience this evening. You will keep me informed if the purpose of this becomes know, yes?"
Seeing that the Princess' hand isn't badly off, Alianthe rummages through the papers carefully, avoiding picking up large slashes, but nevertheless garnering her share of tiny scrapes. She bites her lip as her search comes to an end and something turns up missing. "The letters are here, but...the royal seal is not..."
Elyse nods to Theowyn, "I will, thank you, my Prince." Then frowns as she learns the news from Alianthe, "Oh, Light I hope it has simply been cast aside somewhere here in the room. I hope Gherta and the others find it." She bites her lip again.
