| Summary: | Theowyn and Rennar discuss Calisa's return to the Palace, and Durnik's invitation of her. The First Prince also reminds Rennar of her position as heir-apparent. |
Rennar comes into the room.
The First Prince of the Sword is seated in one of the two large arm-chairs set on an angle to the fireplace. Currently he holds a book within his lap, the brilliance of his sapphire blue eyes hinted upon from the light of the fire. The room is fairly dark otherwise, with only a few torches about setting a visible scene. A glass of, what would appear to be water, sits at a table beside the arm-chair.
There is a faint pause as Rennar speaks with the servant before she is shown into the room. "Thank you." She speaks to the young woman who announced her presence. She adjusts her skirts and steps inside, nodding to Theowyn where he sits upon the chair. "Good afternoon, Prince Versyr." She remains formal, despite her normal preference to do away with formalities.
At the entrance of Rennar, the Prince sets the book to the side and stands in respect. A sudden darkness takes over his features as he turns away from the fireplace to face the door, though those eyes seem to still lighlty shine against the dim torch-light. "Duchess," he greets with the appropriate bow of his head. "I did prefer to do this in person, though I did not wish to make assumptions on your priority in this matter." Theowyn's hand raises to offer the other large chair. "If you'd like to take a seat?" he offers with a slight question in that tone. They are alone, the servant had not even gained entrance to the room to take drink requests. At least not yet.
Rennar steps further into the room, looking a bit lost for a moment or two. She snaps out of whatever thoughts were plaguing her mind and nods her head to the Prince. "Thank you, yes." She moves over and delicately takes a seat within the other chair near Theowyn. "I must say that I still do not know why I've come. Calisa is dead." At least, from the tone of her voice, Calisa will never return from the grave in her mind.
Theowyn take a seat after Rennar does, settling his shirt down as he stretches out into the arm-chair. The Prince looks at home here, or at least as though he had been seeking some sort of escape from the recent events. "I realize that there are conflicting reports on her death. I also realize that you will likely not acknowledge her whether she is living or dead. Though I felt that you needed to be informed, then surprised on the street." He sets that thought, which might not be the most pleasant of ideas. Theowyn tries to recover from the matter. "I trust the matter will be resolved shortly."
"Is the Queen aware that she has a Darkfriend in her employ?" Rennar states, her tone bland and without emotion. "That would be my only concern.... that the Queen is aware of who is in her presence and within her employ. My sister died the day she took Oaths to the Dark. I do not believe as others. If they tortured her into taking Oaths once, they will do so again if they find she's supposedly rescinded her Oaths to the Dark, particularly if they were Andorans and take then as stronly as most others."
Theowyn's features are well illuminated against the low fire, his features well defined. If he is surprised by Rennar's words, he does not show it, though his expression is less casual then it was some moments ago. "My sister will be informed. I have no intentions of keeping her here, I assure you. Though she has arrived with information that maybe of use, whether it was planted there by the Dark or for other reasons." Theowyn is likely fairly satisfied that it was planted by the Dark. "I explained her intentions in the letter, she wishes to serve Andor during its time of need." Theowyn shrugs, leaning back on the chair. "I'd not trust her cleaning horse dung from the stables, if you pardon the language."
A satisfied nod is all the expression Rennar seems to show on the topic. "She's lied to the Queen on the matter of being Dark. I'd trust her even less than yourself. I do appreciate your concern for my well fare. And, you are right.... this is better than being surprised along the streets. I cannot say that I would have been pleased to see her, no matter that there is an injunction against her coming in my sight, made by the Queen herself."
Theowyn seems somewhat pleased, the expression is brief but visible. "I trust this matter will be resolved. Certainly someone will need to explain her being here without notifying yourself and the Queen." Theowyn frowns a touch. "Rennar, I am not against compassion, though Tebrya's life would have better ended the day her title was stripped. Still, she is young." Theowyn will not call her by her former name, accepting the name she had choosen for her new life. "She is certainly foolish in coming here. I would think that if she were not of the Dark, then her life is in danger." Theowyn shows no sympathy.
"I have no sympathy for the troubles that girl has gotten herself into. It would have been better had she really been dead after the word she had Master Kael send to me. I can say that there are members within House Hune who feel more strongly than myself about her predicament, but I cannot say how they will react to the information that she is alive." Rennar carefully folds her hands within her lap as she regards Theowyn, her eyes taking on a neutral expression. "And, that's not to mention that there are those in Andor who would see her as nothing but a Darkfriend."
"Certainly this matter requires a prompt reaction," Theowyn nods with agreement. He takes a heavy sigh, those eyes moving to the light fire as a few sparks are heard from the heated wood. One leg crosses horizontally unto the other. "Certainly the Children would not react well to believe an admitted Darkfriend so openly walks within the Palace. I fear at odds as well. My sister did give Tebrya her punishment. Having Tebrya removed from the Palace now might contradict Aislynn's acceptance of Tebrya as no longer of the Dark, and punished for her mistake." Theowyn admits this with a clenched fist on his thigh. "She should have never been hired, but now it will be dealt with. Though, as you say, your sister is dead. This is now a matter for us to deal with. Did you have any questions for me, Duchess?" Even though he uses her formal title, the tone is more casual, his eyes coming to Rennar then.
Rennar gives a small shake of her head, letting the other stuff lie as it should remain, "I do not, Prince Versyr." Her tone is quietly spoken now, and seems to relax a bit as matters move on. She starts to rise from her seat, smoothing her dress down as she does so. "If there is nothing further, I won't disturb you any longer." She seems pretty anxious to be out of the Palace herself.
Theowyn nearly copies Rennar's motions in rising, offering her a reassuring princely-like smile as he stands. "If there is no other issue House Hune wishes with the Versyr's, then that is all." He does leave that open for Rennar to address another matter if she wishes.
Rennar gives another small shake of her head after ensuring there are no wrinkles in her dress. "Nothing that comes to mind, Prince Versyr." Her response is as softly spoken as the first, yet there is no expression in her eyes.
A hint of concern does show in his eyes. If there is one thing he knows about nobles, is they have concerns, and especially those High Seated types that have plenty of nobles with issues beneath them. He doesn't take this as a positive sign, though he does take a few steps toward Rennar to offer his arm. "If I may offer your escort to the door," he offers. Well, it's at least several paces away. "When is the last you have been in the Palace, Rennar?" The question comes at the most casual of tones, now that he towers over her from so near.
There is a pause before Rennar takes the arm, uncertain of protocol in this matter. Though, in the end, her features tell that she's decided this is the better of her options. "The last the Queen held a formal meeting of the council." Rennar responds, allowing Theowyn to take her to the door. Still, she brings no concerns to the Prince - keeping Hune business to itself.
"Since the reopening of the palace, few nobles have visitted within," Theowyn admits, though he maintains his tone to be casual as he slowly escorts Rennar to the door. "Extremes are sometimes required for matters of extreme preportion, or at least with that very potential. I trust that we know better now then to restrict the entrance of Andor's noble within their own palace." In that, he offers an apology, his eyes taking to Rennar as he reaches to open the door to his chambers.
"There is no apology needed, Prince Versyr. I am certain that Lord Kasagara was well intentioned, no matter how misplaced his intentions were." Rennar refuses to call Durnik by his first name, or even mention his title of Captain-General, not recognizing his position. "It seems he has a record for such things, a long record." Her voice is rather dryly spoken. It is no secret that she holds Durnik solely responsible for Calisa's predicament, or what was her predicament.
The next motion might surprise Rennar. Theowyn had opened the door, then pushes it closed, turning more to her though still maintain his hold on her within that casual escorting manner. "You have had unfortunate dealings with the Captain-General over the matter of Tebrya," Theowyn states casually. "There was a matter of him holding back information from you, yes?"
Indeed, the motion does surprise Rennar, and it shows in her eyes even though she doesn't let it show otherwise upon her features. "Indeed, he has. And, it was against the direct order of the Queen, and in the interim, he showed just how well he could manage himself by damaging Palace property before storming off and going missing for several days."
Theowyn did attempt to gain some advantage from the Duchess with his near proximity and sudden change in expected motion. Though if he's satisfied, he doesn't show it, and likely the contrary. "What information was not he not revealing?" Theowyn asks quietly, apparently not allowing Rennar that quick escape he had almost promised by escorting her to the door.
There is a brief pause before Rennar answers once more, still a bit flustered over Theowyn's closing of the door. "The apparent location of my sister when she was kidnapped, and any other pertinent information so House Hune could make their own investigation." There is a small frown that comes to her features, "We would have cooperated fully with the Queen's Guard, and I had the Queen's assurance that the Guard would do the same. But, when I had asked once more for the information, I was flat out refused." She pauses, then adds with a darkened tone, "I hold him fully responsible for all that has happened to her. Had he told me, then I could have gotten others in on the search and she might have been found sooner than she was." Of course, she's not going to acknowledge publically that Calisa is still alive.
"Interesting." Theowyn's words hold a hint of intrigue. It is then that his proximity might become particular obvious, especially as those brilliant blue eyes seek out Rennar's. He still clearly has a hold on her, the other hand coming across his chin and cheek. He would bring the image of a man contimplating a matter. "Interesting that the Captain-General now holds Tebrya within his staff." That he drops with purpose. If Andor's recent actions are to be blamed on someone, he will let it fall on the Captain-General he doubts has much of a future.
"If that is true, I would suspect him of being a Darkfriend himself." Rennar's voice turns flat, yet holds a sharpness to it as well. What other viewpoint would she have, given the information she, herself, has been holding thus far. "Or no less than one, certainly nothing more." She sniffs faintly, her eyes narrowing a touch dangerously. Oh, she does place blame on Durnik, now more so than before.

The nod Theowyn produces shows no hint of reason to which he agrees with, though the Prince does seem agreable to Rennar's statement in general. "M'lady, if they are of the Dark, then they are certainly the foolish sort. It would be almost the too obvious answer." There is no amusement in Theowyn's voice. "It better to hang the sort then to have them removed from the Palace." Now, he could be speaking about Durnik, Tebrya, or both. "I trust you will take care in what I've shared? Certain information your First Prince should not reveal."
"Of course, Prince Versyr." Rennar agrees quietly, as though she would do no less than keep quiet their conversation. "The only person I would share anything of value with is my husband, Demonder. Though, there are things that I will not tell even him." A slight smile comes to her lips at mention of her husband.
Theowyn arches an eyebrow. He had begun reaching for the doorknob, though apparently Rennar had once against insured her further intrapping. "Is that always the case. The wife holding back facts from her husband?" he asks, features reacting to her smile, as a concerned amusement shows.
"That I cannot say, Prince Versyr." Rennar states in a calm voice, her eyes taking on a note of curiosity, "But if the Queen commands that I tell no one something we've discussed, then I cannot tell even my husband of our conversation, would you not agree?" She waits patiently, of course, for her entrappings to open up again, remaining patient all the while.
"Of course," Theowyn agrees, falling into another state of pondering as evident by the way his fingers brush against his chin once more. "Though..." perhaps Theowyn has a matter of disagreement, even though he had earlier agreed to the statement. Finally, the First Prince is defeated with his amused look, reaching over and opening the door to his chambers. "I will think on that." Theowyn's words may seem strange.
This time it is Rennar's turn to be reluctant to leave. Just when it seems as though she is going to ask a question, she stops herself. Nodding her head, eyes going to the now open door, the heir-apparent speaks in a quiet voice, "I wish you a good afternoon, Prince Versyr."
"Light Illume, Duchess." The words hold a hint of fondness, perhaps amusement. She is the heir-apparent, a matter Theowyn has not forgotten. "I look forward to seeing you within the Palace at great frequency once this most recent matter is dealt with. That, at least, will insure your comfort here."
"There are those within House Hune who are taking care of political matters here. You will see me at the next council meeting." Rennar states as she finally lets go of Theowyn's arm. Better to do so now before he shuts that door on her again. Rare is it that she even leaves her House - though she does leave. Those rumors would still be lingering upon the streets as well.
"As you wish, Heir-Apparent." Theowyn can play tricks with the title, his voice a near whisper yet likely just as clear in tone as though he had announced her. It likely better that she made her retreate when she did. "Light Illume."
Outwardly, Rennar seems to wince at that title, as though it were one she wished she did not bear. She nods her head once more to Theowyn, placing herself just on the other side of the door now. "Light Illumne, Prince Versyr." With that she turns toward the exit and moves out the door before he moves to hold her back once more.
Rennar leaves the room.
