Summary:Theowyn questions Kellian on the events at Tolmec with the Captain was taken hostage but later escaped. Kellian reveals he's Theowyn's half brother.

There is a draft within Theowyn's large chambers, at least two windows seem to be open. The First Prince of the Sword has had a small table set near the center of the first section of this room. A map is sprawled, and upon closer examination it would be obvious that it is a map of Andor and its direct borders. He's far from his usual self, though then again he hasn't been his usual self in a while. Those icy blue eyes examine the details of the map.

The Captain is allowed in. His own assistants stop outside the apartment as he enters. He stops a few feet into the room and assumes a position of attention. "First Prince Theowyn. Captain Kellian Devail reporting as ordered. Battle Strategies?" He ventures as he looks on curiously.

Theowyn's icy blue eyes face Kellian, his body following as he straightens. "Captain, at ease." Those eyes briefly fall on the map, whatever strategies he had been making were empty of markers typically used in plotting armies, and likely ones placed in thought. Whatever Theowyn was considering, its not for the sight of others. "Please, have a seat," he motions to the two chairs that are near the fireplace. "I hope you've received no consiquence in standing against Lord Durnik?"

Kellian moves his feet apart and clasps his gloved hands behind his back, he does not move toward the chairs yet. "None that I am aware of. It would not change my position even if I had, sir." His own silver flecked blue eyes study the younger man. "It had to be done."

"Indeed," Theowyn agrees, his mind clearly distracted on several matters. Up until a week ago he had none of the direct responsibilities that a Captain-General would handle. "Insure he is watched closely, Captain. Lord Durnik is near charges, if he had not past a line already. But he has been given the benefit of the doubt, and for the time being is being considered incompetent." That he adds, eyes once again finding the map, before he turns and heads toward the seats. "I had been meaning to speak with you for a while. Someone certainly had wanted your capture." Much like before, Theowyn does head for the points once his thoughts begin to clear.

Kellian nods and follows to the chairs then,"Yes. That became very obvious by the actions of the enemy during the seige at Tolmec."

Theowyn settles into a seat, one leg crossing the other horizontally. "Your bravery has been well prove, Captain. The safety of those at Tolmec is owed to you." Theowyn's tone borders on casual. "Though I have yet to hear the story of your escape, or for that matter, a likely reason why they were willing to give in a near certain victory to capture a single Captain?"

Kellian looks at the Prince with a level gaze,"Much of what happened during those weeks is lost to the fever and delirium that followed as I wandered aimlessly through the wilds of Murandy, sir. I will tell you what I can."

"So you were taken to Murandy?" Even that was more then Theowyn had heard, obviously. The Prince is still distracted in thought, though he slowly does begin to focus on Kellian, and those eyes that are a near mirror reflection of his own, and his sister's. "Tell me what you remember, Captain. I will ask questions along the way."

Kellian studies the prince as well, having never been this close to him for so long before, then he begins, his voice clear and elegant. A man used to speaking to new recruits in the new cavalry and teaching them. "After we repelled the initial assault by the rag tag band of bandits and vagabonds a new force arrived. These men were well armed and well trained. Black armored men bearing lances and riding atop large war horses of the finest breed. Hundreds of them. But when one of the bandits tried to take me down with a bow shot, one of the horsemen killed him."

"Yes, an army that showed no hint of origin, from the unlikely part of Andor," Theowyn nods to that information. Kellian gains Theowyn's full attention. Though the Prince is in his mid-twenties, he's truly beginning to show signs of quick aging.

Kellian nods,"Yes, my thoughts exactly. The reports I had received before myself and the party from the White Tower had been spirited there was that it was Cairheinens who were at the heart of the trouble. I was nearly killed by a Cairheined Assassin days before I received word of the trouble in the Mountains of Mist. It was a carefully planned coincidence, meant to push me in going to Tolmec."

"That certaintly suggests a great consipiracy," Theowyn remarks, his eyes going dark as he skips a few steps to realize the extent of Kellian's suggestions.

Kellian continues then,"When I realized they did not wish me harmed..and despite my tactical prowess..they likely could have leveled me in that moment..then I had to use that to my advantage. I agreed to accompany them if they would stop the siege and let the others go free. I had to bet they weren't going to all this trouble just to kill me later."

Theowyn stands then, becoming far too concerned over this matter. "Cairhien, that does not speak well," he finally speaks a few of his thoughts. The Prince begins to pace, simply put. "Go on."

Kellian nods,"It wasn't the Cairheinans Prince. It was...Murandy. The usurper. All along."

"With access to Cairhienin assassins," Theowyn shrugs a shoulder. He's been paranoid of other nations jumping on-board with Murandy. Murandy would be slaughtered in a battle otherwise, and so many facts are not known to him. He knows that Murandy would need to join another nation for chance at victory.

Kellian narrows his eyes at some connection he just made,"I've never been very fond of the Ambassador from Cairhein I must admit. I have to wonder if he feels the same about us.."

Theowyn's pacing settles near the chair, as he finally forces himself to stop the motions and turn to hit unknown older kin. "The Ambassador held the role high within the Royal Guard of Cairhien. He was in charge of the Queen's security, and likely held a position nearly as well ranked as mine, but not nearly as well decorated." Theowyn's words are meant to put Rezna in context. "I've yet to know what to make of him, but when I had stayed in Cairhien for that year, he was among the most feared. Cairhienin involvement would not speak well. But go on Captain."

Kellian does so,"I was told to enter a carriage..a strange man awaited me inside..wearing glasses and having a strange manner of talking. He kept refering to an Emporer...the shades were drawn closed..I could feel the road get rough and bumpy as we traveld..then I was forced to drink of something.."

Theowyn's eyebrow raises, and then those arms fold behind his back. He begins pacing once more. "A strange manner of speaking..." he repeats, insuring to memorize certain facts.

Kellian frowns faintly. But then says,"Everything is shadows and sickness after that. Something happened. They took me..to ..a large keep..well secluded and well protected..I remember..a place like that..something happened..I refused to do something.." He looks at Theo then, leveling his gaze,"I swear upon the light, Prince Theowyn, I faced a great test of my loyalty that day..some choice I was offered..but they were unhappy with my decision I think..and that is why I was dumped in the wilderness alone and unarmed.."

At Kellian's last words, Theowyn is left watching the hints of burning wood that are barely a fire now. The hands are still folded behind his back, as he considers Kellian's recalling of the events. "Your loyalties were tested? They asked you to do something against Andor?"

Kellian nods. As he talks about it..pieces of the discussion rematerialize in his mind. But only vague things that may be completely wrong,"Rio tells me what I remember may be nothing more then fever dreams. They asked me to be Captain General of the greatest army in the world. I refused and said I would not betray my oath to Aislynn and Andor and that I would rather die." Hopefully that's vague enough and uncertain enough that I didn't just break my promise :)

"They offered you what?" Theowyn's eyes settle on Kellian then, a surprise becoming rather evident on his hardened expression before it is masked. "They wished you to ride against Andor," is the next conclusion he reaches. "If there is truth to that. The matter is becoming to sound less likely by the word. Certainly you are a fine Captain, your reputation is near renown. But why would they, Captain?"

Kellian takes a deep slow breath, then turns his gaze back on Theowyn,"Because, Theowyn, I am your brother."

The first of several blinks might indicate confusion. Theowyn stares at Kelllian from the angle near the fireplace. There are certain details that he grabs about Kellian's appearance, but mostly those eyes. "You are...?" There's only a hint of question in his voice. "Explain, Captain." The next words come with some strain to his expression. Theowyn is likely uncertain, but if he is, he's well hidden behind his current mask and the use of Kellian's title.

Kellian says "My mother was Queen Arian. My father..well..my father was an embarrasment apparantly..I was sent off to be raised by a man who was not father. Unaware of my heritage. The Queen knows this. Of that I am fairly certain. Or I've missed my guess on why I was called here.""

"Brother..." Theowyn's voice lightens at the thought. He's used the term often enough, but for fellow Brother's of the Tower. "We share a mother, that is." The latter said after another gaining of composure. "How long have you known?" If Kellian found out in Murandy, it was not obvious to Theowyn, his thoughts not drifting elsewhere as he turns away with a hint of uncertainty.

Kellian says levelly,"Not very long..I've known my whole life that I was meant for more then currying the horses at Farmer Hansen's. It took a visit here to the palace to finally piece together a few things. Talking to some of the staff that has been with the family for a very long time..wondering why two men from the Guard came to pick me out of a group of much more likely men to join the Guard long ago.."

"So you are my brother," Theowyn states quietly. If it were not for Kellian mentioning that Aislynn already knows, or at least he thinks she does, Theowyn would have been more suspecious. He takes a deep breath. "They knew?" And even when he returns to business, his mind is clearly drifting elsewhere.

Kellian shakes his head,"No. But certain things that happened here were confirmed. Rumors of a dalliance by our mother."

"I see..." Theowyn has been pushed. He's barely sleeping, and now learns his mother was rather lose. He sighs. "I had not heard." The voice nears a whisper.

Kellian looks at the man who is his brother,"It was brief and probably meaningless. Everyone I know speaks highly of Queen Arian and her devotion to your father."

"It is of no concern," Theowyn states, not meaning a word as he turns back to the fire in considering of this. Just when he has found love in his own life, he is introduced with the struggles of it.

Kellian frowns, struggling with some problems of love of his own,"Might I ask what you summoned me for, Prince Theowyn..I may need to send word to Rio Sedai to expect me later." Then he pauses, but adds,"Some of the Guardsman are leaving Caemlyn with Durnik tomorrow."

"I meant to speak with you about the matter we discussed," Theowyn responds, voice still strangely distant. "You have plans with Rio, of course," he nods quietly next. Another pause, though after this one he moves to turn toward Kellian. "Guards are leaving with Durnik? How many?"

Kellian says "File Leader Rik Gimlet for one. A handful of others. A Captain, the one he had working for him in Ferret Run."

Kellian adds softly,"And I worry about General Ozric's loyalty as well, sir."

"Is there word of where they are departing?" Theowyn asks next. "Certainly treason charges are only a short distance from him. Perhaps it be best if he was let go. I've known him for many years, in that Rio Sedai was correct. He can't be evil, yet, what he did..."

Kellian looks back at Theo,"I think it would be best that any charges be brought by the Queen. Many would see your hand as biased and it could start an even greater split in the Guard then these little cracks. We can patch these holes, sir, we may not be so lucky if the bridge collapses completely.

"Good advise," Theowyn agrees, his head still likely spinning within. The void holds his composure, uncertainty over-taking him. The thought of his mother betraying the father Theowyn could barely remember... It certainly has an affect. "Guards are court-marshelled for desserting their posts, however, Captain."

Kellian nods,"Then these men should leave the guards before they depart with the Captain General. There is a time for strict discipline and there is a time to tread carefully. Offer them the choice to resign there commission and go with Durnik or stay with the guard and face the consequences should they later choose his path. We could try to hold them all by force of punishment..but that would only strengthen Durnik's position. And it would certainly weaken morale at a time when we need the men at our command to be proud and fit to defend Andor. Any of those that want to go with Durnik we are probably better off without anyway."

The last convinces Theowyn. "Those that are loyal to Lord Durnik are better gone," he agrees. "If he takes more then ten guards, we need to insure they are well tracked Captain."

Kellian nods,"Agreed."

"A spy would hold well," Theowyn states next. "Are there any we may persuad against Lord Durnik? The man is incompetent, perhaps it a matter of his age, I don't know. But he needs watching."

Kellian nods,"I agree."
