Summary:Renford is discussed primarily between Rio and Kellian as Theowyn enters into the conversation. Kellian offers an odd reaction at the mention of Magnus. Murandy is the hot topic.

Kellian shakes his head,"I have not spoken to him but briefly the morning after we held him." His mood darkens at this talk.

Rio nods. "It is a dark day for those of us in Andor." She glances over at Theowyn as the First Prince arrives. "Peace be upon you, Theowyn," she murmers politely to him. She and Kellian are having a conversation in the middle of the sitting room, as they are often found doing from time to time.

Theowyn steps out of his chambers still adjusting his shirt as he heads into the noble sitting room. A forced smile comes to his features. "Kellian, Rio," he tilts his head to each. "I do hope our 'guest' is still in the palace?" he asks Kellian, basically continuing on their subjcet.

Rio looks over to Kellian, wanting to know the answer to this question herself.

Kellian nods to them both,"He is."

"This proof he has is not so quick to show up," Theowyn notes with a slight shrug. "If there is one proof that we have that he is indeed the true King, it is the fact that I question his sanity. And I know that to be a rumored trait of Lord Renford. Though he'll have us believe it was all negative press against him."

Rio shakes her head. "We've had too many eyes and ears observing him for the past year, although those reports as well are conflicting."

Kellian nods,"He presents a wondeful case against the evidence that stands against him. But, since it is certainly in his interest to dispute those claims, it is not in my nature to believe a word he said. The man may seem insane, but he is not stupid. And the theatrics at the High Council were designed to pull our strings and make us dance to his tune."

"And let's face it, what evidence did he bring? A blood-line that is already charged with treason?" Theowyn shrugs at that. "Then the armour, though I find that more a matter of convenience. In truth, maybe I have a bias against the man. For years I have been told that he was insane and rather ruthless. Still, Lord Magnus was close with Queen Sydelle, and he believed Renford was the man that killed her heir-apparent."

At the mention of Lord Magnus, Rio Sedai looks at Kellian to gauge his reaction.

Kellian jaws tightens at something, "I would be inclined to believe Magnus above..this man."

"I would as well," Theowyn agrees, eyes flickering between the pair. "Lord Magnus believed the attack on Andoran soil was by Renford's men because of the house colors and symbol on the assassins cloth. Admittedly, that could have been someone framing Lord Renford. Still, Lord Magnus had extensive research done on Murandy. He was no fool when it came to their politics."

Kellian raises a brow,"No, Noone has ever accused him of being a fool."

Rio nods in agreement with that last. She sighs. "Is the Errene man still to be put to death, Theowyn?"

"My point exactly," Theowyn nods in agreement, still flicking his attention between the pair as though their reactions are not exactly 'right.' "Though Lord Renford did suggest I was being rather foolish in thinking along those lines, Kellian." Another shrug. "I do not think years of collected evidence would be this false." To Rio, he shakes his head. "That is for my sister to decide. I would certainly wish the opportunity to question him beforehand."

Kellian looks at Theowyn,"I would advise against it. Renford didn't bring that man here to do Aislynn a favor. He knew what Aislynn would do. He knew what her reaction would be. Just for the sake of not playing his game, and for the sake of learning as much as we can about this situation so we can better protect Andor, that man should not be executed."

Theowyn frowns a little at the suggestion, though nods faintly. "Perhaps that is a matter to consider. Does anyone here actually believe his story of this other house being in a position to rule Murandy?"

Rio shakes her head. "I've not heard any evidence to this effect, Theowyn. Reports indicate that only House Fiores is of any strength in the Nation at present. I don't know how we could have missed any evidence of Errene's exsistance, no matter how well they hid themeselves. No one is an island."

Vasimer walks leaves the sitting room and walks out onto the balcony.

Vasimer has left.

"But if he is King Renford, then we will be forced to release him?" Theowyn's question is clearly to Rio, already expecting the answer he won't want to hear.

Rio looks up at the first prince, "You are soverign here in Andor, Theowyn. What you choose to do is your own concern. The White Tower is neutral in this manner, but yes, should you hold a monarch here against his will, you might have to deal with the power of the amrilyn seat."

Kellian nods at Rio,"We can not hold him unless we have some evidence that he conspired to commit crimes..or did commit crimes against Andor. And we do not have such evidence."

Vasimer enters the Palace Sitting Room from the Cairhienian Ambassador's Suite.

Vasimer has arrived.

"We have evidence," Theowyn notes. "About as circumstantial as his own. But I do not think that even then we could hold him on trial. Though perhaps then the Tower would be more willing to run interference."

Slipping silently out of the Cairhien's quarters comes the stoic guard Vasimer. He glances around the room, noting the important personages, and moves to lean against the wall near the doorway he exited from.

Kellian looks at Rio again.

Rio shakes her head. "I can not say that they will, Theowyn. Mother sent a delagation to Andor and to Murandy. She will remain neutral for as long as she can. The tower weilds such power that they much prevent fear in all nations, least they all join and act together against Tar Valon. It is a delicate balance, as surely you must guess."

"Indeed," Theowyn agrees quietly. "There may be hope still that Renford will respect the Tower in that regard. He was polite to Caenna Sedai out in the courtyard a few days before. He did not appreciate me being there, though as you could imagine, I was not too kind to that man."

Kellian smiles faintly,"None of us are perfect brother. Perhaps next time you won't treat him so nicely."

The silent wall ornament makes no noise to give his presence away, but then it's not like he is hiding his being there either. Vasimer's eyes idly wander around the room, being polite enough not to stare at those having their conversation.

Rio shakes her head. "There is something about the man that brings out the worse in all of us. The first day I met him, I threw a tankard of ale in his face." She looks sheepish, "Which I admit is not like me." Rio shakes her head, "Caenna Sedai has spoken to me of her short interview with Milton Trigaren," she still doesn't use the name that he claims as his own, perhaps so that she doesn't lend credibilty to his claim for the throne of Murandy, "however, she is puzzled as to why some of his own men do not seem to reconize him."

"He explained that he would use about five decoys in Murandy," Theowyn responds. "And so at any one time there were five of him running about. Again, I'm concerned by all these convenient excuses." The First Prince shrugs, noting Vasimer he nods politely to the man. "I would almost assume that Ian had been a spy for Lord Magnus. It is certainly odd that Lord Magnus would hire a man that had worked for a Lord that Magnus felt was insane. Unless Ian had not mentioned that."

Kellian's jaw tightens again. "What do you know of Ian..either of you?"

Vasimer returns any polite nods given his way but otherwise seems happy studying the various things within the sitting room.

Rio shakes her head. "He has a reputation as a deadly blademaster and a thirst for money. He is loyal to those that employ him, but doesn't seem to retain ties to them once he leaves their service." She pauses, "Zilfrin is familar with him, I understand that they fought once and took a draw. This Ian of Altara seems to respect the Arafellin for this."

Caenna climbs up the spiraling staircase, from the lower levels of the Palace.

Caenna has arrived.

Theowyn nods in agreement with Rio. "He also aided Andor in the purging."

Vasimer leans agains the wall near the Cairhien's quarters while the rest converse quietly together.

Caenna makes her way up the steps, stands at the top glancing around.

Kellian nods at Theo and Rio as they stand in a trio.

Rio turns and inclines her head to Caenna Sedai as she enters. "Ah, you are on time, Sister. Thank you for coming to see me, your missive of the other day was quite interesting." Rio Sedai is pleased to see the white tower's representive. She turns to Theowyn, "Did he? In what way? I am uncertain of all the details of that time period since it was before I arrived, although naturally I have studied the records left by the court historians."
