JOINING TROOP 121 Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 121, we are glad you are interested in joining. It is our hope that you will find your time with Troop 121 a rewarding and, most of all, fun experience in which to continue or begin your Scouting adventure. Below is information to help you become a part of our troop. Please contact the Scoutmaster, Paul Nuss, if you have any questions. For the Boy To
join Troop 121, you must: · be at least 11 years old, but not yet 18 years old, or · have completed the fifth grade, or · have earned the Arrow of Light In addition, by the time of your induction into Troop 121, you must be able to: · repeat the Pledge of Allegiance · demonstrate the Scout sign, salute, and handshake · demonstrate tying the square knot (joining knot) · understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, the motto, the slogan, and the Outdoor Code · describe the Scout badge · complete the exercises in the pamphlet in the front of the Scout Handbook · participate in a Scoutmaster conference If you earned the Arrow of Light, then you have mastered most of these requirements. If you did not earn the Arrow of Light, a Troop Guide or an Assistant Scoutmaster will teach the joining requirements. For the Parents The following items need to be completed and turned into the Scoutmaster so that we can register your son in Troop 121: · Completed and signed Boy Scout Application · Completed and signed Consent to Medical or Dental Care of a Minor Child form · Vehicle Insurance Information · Troop Resource Survey · Personal Health and Medical Record – Class 1 and Class 2. The Class 1 form does not need to be completed since it is part of the Boy Scout Application, but it will need to be updated annually. The Class 2 form is required for summer camp and is valid for 3 years. A doctor either during a physical examination or from a recent physical examination must fill out the Class 2 form. · Check for annual dues made out to Boy Scout Troop 121 in the following amount:

The items you need are: · Boy Scout Handbook (about $8) · Boy Scout Uniform (check with the parents committee, we have a uniform box with uniforms that Scouts have outgrown): · Boy Scout Shirt · Red Shoulder Loops · Green Pants or Shorts · Green Socks with Red stripe (mandatory if shorts are worn) · Green Belt with BSA Buckle · Patches (121, Redwood Empire Council) You can get the following from the Parents Committee: · Red Beret and BSA patch (first one is free, replacements are $15) · Optional - Troop 121 T-shirt ($6) |
