The Homestead text chat client is
not very good as chat clients go, but its main advantage is that it is easily
created and accessed. (It was created by opening an account at http://www.homestead.com and in the web
page builder simply dragging a chat icon from the choices available onto the
page a-building; the guest book was created in the same way). As far as access is concerned, visitors can
join the chat simply by browsing to the url, so that no registration is
necessary or application software other than a browser.
The buffer size of the chat that can
be preserved from this client is small, and during presentations there is no
time for me to be saving the buffer as I would do during less frenetic
events. Therefore, what you see below
is what was in the buffer at the end of the session at 12:15 GMT.
When someone changes his/her name in
the chat client, that person “leaves” the chat and then “joins” it again under
the new name, which explains much of the activity.
If you know a chat client that
can as easily accessed while allowing complete recovery of chat logs, please
let me know - Vance
