Vince Russo and Kevin Sullivan still battling for power backstage in WCW...

- The Pro Wrestling Torch reports that Vince Russo and Kevin Sullivan are still battling over power backstage at WCW events. Bill Busch, who is Vince Russo's boss, has been telling Russo in his face that he supports him and that he has six-to-twelve months to prove himself before he will be heavily scrutinized for his doings. J.J. Dillon, Bill Busch's right-hand man, is working along with Sullivan and against Russo. Dillon has been said to be hostile towards Russo. At recent booking meetings, Dillon questions almost everything that Russo says. Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter adds that the growing belief in WCW is that Busch, Dillon, and Gary Juster have all lost confidence in Russo and his abilities, but since they hired him, they need to try to make their decision look good. Many are said to be tired of Russo's excuses regarding the Standards and Practices division. Either Russo seriously believes that his booking abilities have a limit to them due to the Standards and Practices, or he is using them as a scapegoat for his shaken confidence.
Kevin Sullivan has recently been in Bill Busch's ear, arguing with him that he should become a top booker because he's never been given a chance like that before. His arguments include that he has been an assistant booker, or a part of a committee, but never having 100% full control over talent. At different times, he had to answer to Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Kevin Nash, and several others. It appears that backstage, Terry Taylor has not sided with Kevin Sullivan, even though both Sullivan and Russo were instrumental in hiring Taylor back. Nash, since he doesn't want to end up on the losing team, is holding out with whom he is siding and is keeping it to himself. Upper management is tired of fighting with Standards and Practices every week as well. Sullivan and his group appear to be selling Bill Busch of ideas that Sullivan could book a better program and deliver better numbers without all of the headaches that Vince Russo causes every week.
