WCW to debut 'Wrestling Jesus' character

WCW is set to debut a character named "Wrestling Jesus" and will be played by Devon Storm once his Crowbar character is finished. Storm has the "look" of the character, with his beard and hair necessary to play Wrestling Jesus. "We will let organized religion continue to use the name 'Jesus' as long as it doesn't interfere with what we do," said Vince Russo. They are even thinking of marketing this by making "John 3:16" t-shirts. WCW doesn't want to be considered sacrilegious, but what can you really say when they are having a character named Jesus who is supposed to portray Jesus Christ. When asked if he was worried about the religious factors of the Jesus character, Russo said, "Not really. It was Madden's idea, and that fat idiot is going to hell anyway."
