- Mike Mooneyham of the Charleston Post and Courier reported in his Sunday column that Tommy Dreamer initiated the ongoing discussions to get Shawn Michaels into ECW in a manager-type role, probably to aid Michaels' good friend Justin Credible. The storyline being pitched is that the Heartbreak Kid would be involved in an angle during which the Impact Players, Credible and Lance Storm, would continue their feud with Dreamer and Raven. Dreamer told Mooneyham that a deal will probably be worked out soliciting WWF
permission for Michaels to appear in ECW, but if the WWF places any obstacles in the way, HBK would have to go along with the wishes of the WWF. Michaels has a $750,000 a year deal with the WWF. No matter how well off he may be
financially, he and his wife (former Nitro Girl Whisper) have a baby due in January and he won't do anything to jeopardize his contract with the WWF. (Cody Monk of the Dallas Morning News reported in his Friday column that Michaels has had "several" conversations with ECW owner Paul Heyman about coming to ECW, but Heyman has not yet contacted WWF officials seeking their
permission for Michaels to appear.
- Mooneyham reported that several months ago, Michaels turned down a WWF request that his contract be renegotiated, stating his injuries resulted from bumps taken in WWF rings. Doctors fused his fourth and fifth vertebrae in January and recommended that he never wrestle again, saying the pounding he's taken during his career had virtually destroyed two disks in his lower back.

- Mike Mooneyham reported in the Charleston Post and Courier that Shawn Michaels is experiencing some problems with the wrestling school and indy
promotion he runs in his home town of San Antonio. According to Mooneyham, Michaels' former mentor, Jose Lothario, is no longer affiliated with the enterprises after severing a business relationship with Michaels several
months ago. Lothario cited Michaels' attitude and lack of respect as reasons for leaving adding that Michaels was very rude in his treatment of talent sent in by the WWF for the local shows in Texas. Another source confirmed to Mooneyham that Michaels' poor treatment of the WWF imports eventually led to Vince McMahon's refusal to allow any more wrestlers to appear for Michaels'
promotion. The source told Mooneyham that when Micheals does make an infrequent appearance at the wrestling academy, he often screams and tosses
chairs around. The source said everyone who's been brought into the academy has eventually quit. (It should be noted that although the above accounts may be 100% accurate, it doesn't completely jibe with the reports of why Michaels is considering the ECW appearances. According to most reports, in addition to giving a rub to his friend Justin Credible, Michaels also wants
the wrestlers from his academy and wrestling promotion to have an opportunity to appear on ECW's national telecasts on TNN. Such publicity would be invaluable to young wrestlers who otherwise might not get such an opportunity
for years.)

- The Chicago Sun-Times reported in its Sunday column that Shane Douglas is looking to return to action by late December. As previously reported,
doctors fear Douglas is rushing his return and risking further injury to his torn bicep.
