The article said AT&T and Mars Inc. pulled their ads from Smackdown, but not from Raw. Jim Byrne told Wrestleline.com's Mike Samuda that the only advertiser to pull out is Surge, which is a brand of Coca Cola. He said no other brand pulled out of WWF programming. That is somewhat shifty, because the sponsors didn't pull ads from "all WWF programming," but did pull out of Smackdown. The PTC has been no less shifty, as they have listed advertisers as pulling out who either never advertised with the WWF, or more likely advertised on a local level or with an advertising pool. There are a lot of word games being played by both sides with half-truths and technicalities being used to make their side look better. For instance, Byrne told Samuda, "Ford Motor Company has never advertised with us." When he told them Ford advertises in his market in South Florida, Byrne clarified: "We handle through our national sales office in New York. We can't speak to local co-ops of advertisers that purchase from local affiliates." Just To mention, I will not be posting for two or three days, as my cpu will be getting upgraded. |
