athletic program
In general, all
students enrolled at John F. Kennedy High School are eligible to participate
in interscholastic sports if they are under 19 years of age on the
First of September of the current school year, meet the school's eligibility
requirements, and have parental approval. To be eligible, a student
must meet the physical requirements as judged by a physician's physical
examination, be an active participant and in regular attendance, and
have a 70% average which is verified each quarter. Any student who
receives a U for citizenship an F for a course grade will not be permitted
to participate in sports. Students who have been suspended will not
be permitted to participate during the suspension and/or for the remainder
of the season. Following is a checklist of requirements that need
to be completed before any student athlete may participate. 1) An
updated physical on file at school. 2) Parental permission for participation
on file. 3) At least 10 official practices before competition. 4)
A signed attendance check on competition days and 5) A POSITIVE ATTITUDE.
To qualify for a school letter, a student must participate in a competitive
activity which requires practice after school and competes against
other high schools. After earning a letter, the student will then
receive pins for additional participation in competitive activities
(ie: Debate, Mock trial, Football, Cross Country, etc.
